  5. Baylor, Hixson Claim Mat Wins In matches involving state duals champions and runners-up, Baylor and Hixson claimed regular season wins Thursday. Division II defending state champs Baylor (21-5) defeated D-I runner-up Ooltewah (10-5), 60-13, while D-I small school runner-up Hixson stopped host and small school duals champ Notre Dame, 36-30. Hixson 36, Notre Dame 30 With the match starting at 160, visiting Hixson (13-3) won four of the first five weights ??“ three via forfeit ??“ and led 21-6. Notre Dame??™s lower weights brought the Irish (13-5) back with pins at 103 (Grayson Mullin), 112 (Jack Boone) and 125 (Tee Boone) to offset a regular decision by Hixson??™s Logan Vandergriff at 119 and the match was tied at 24.   10. Tee Boone Sets Notre Dame Win Record The Notre Dame wrestling program is celebrating its 70th wrestling season as well as the success of senior captain Tee Boone. Boone claimed the 125-pound championship at the Soddy Daisy tournament this past weekend and his four wins makes him the school??™s all-time win leader at 171-11. His semifinal victory pushed him past previous leader, two-time state champ Jay Adamson (169-14). The ND career top four are Boone (171), Adamson (169), Ian Meredith (157-20) and Billy Hayduk (132-6). He does not plan to wrestle in college, so his mat career will end at the state tournament in February. ???I have been wrestling since kindergarten and I??™ll hang it up after the state,??™??™ Boone said before Thanksgiving. Baylor Wrestlers Stop LaFayette, Heritage Two defending state team champions from Tennessee and Georgia sent 15 state medalists, including four state champs, to the mat Friday night and the fans at LaFayette Academy got their money??™s worth as Baylor defeated LaFayette, 49-21. The visiting Red Raiders (4-4) used victories from state champs Zach Watson (112), Stuart Doster (119) and Cole Hayes (130) to build a 20-0 lead after five matches. But Derek Murdock??™s 14-8 decision against Matthew Cate at 140 jump-started the Ramblers comeback, as the hosts won four of the next five matches to trail 26-21 with four weights remaining. After Baylor??™s Chanse Hayes stopped 2008 state runner-up Joe Franks in 3:22 at 145, LaFayette??™s Justin Ownby, Justin Gilbreath and Will Gilbert each recorded consecutive second period falls to pull within five.
