  1. Dang it vandy1 it was my goal to keep it a SECRET /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> As for Class 3A from for the next four years following this upcoming season I see things shaking out as follows: Region 4 White House Greenbrier East Robertson (playing up): they learned their lesson in 2005-2006-2007 Trousdale Co. (playing up): they've already shown that they will do whatever it takes to avoid the privates Smith Co. Livingston Academy Macon Co. DeKalb Co. Region 5 Cheatham Co. Sycamore Harpeth (playing up): they learned their lesson in 2005-2006 Spring Hill Marshall Co. Montgomery Central Pearl Cohn Both Waverly Central & Stewart Co. are jumping up to Class 3A but they will likely be placed in Region 6 with Lexington, McNairy, JSS, Bolivar, etc. I don't know what East Hickman or Hickman Co. will do so don't ask /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" David Lipscomb will go back to 2A with the loss of the multiplier and they'll join Goodpasture. Other 3A privates that will drop as well include Knoxville Catholic and Notre Dame. CPA, DCA, FRA, and Ezell will all go back to Class 1A as a result of this very same thing. Notable 3A schools that are moving on after this year will be Station Camp, Creek Wood, and Giles Co. Springfield will be a borderline 3A-4A school enrollment wise but I don't think they are going to drop. Other notable 3A schools that will make the jump due to their enrollment numbers include both Dyer Co. as well as Knoxville Fulton. Page is electing to play up to Class 5A in the years to come to ignite region rivalries with their area schools. This list includes Franklin, Independence, Brentwood, Centennial, & Ravenwood. Look for Station Camp to jump all the way to Class 5A and do the same thing with their area rivals (Hendersonville & Gallatin).

  3. Bolivar Central will win the region and likely be David Lipscomb's largest obstacle to a state title. The Tigers return Overton at QB and Pirtle at RB. Fayette Ware returns #3, #6, #7 and some other key playmakers but how will all of those stars react to losing Thompson as their coach?????? Look for Lexington to get right back in the thick of the region race this season. Lindsay is a good coach.
  4. All this thread really and truly is would be a case of a Hillsboro supporter (maybe even a coach) who has it out for the Firebirds.
  5. Harpeth??????? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> The only football team that Harpeth is CLEARLY tougher than is RBS. Outside of that they are no better than anyone on a given night.
  6. Doug Loope Following the 2008 season the Harpeth Indians will be a borderline 2A-3A team. This means that they could stay in 2A for the following four years OR they might have to make the jump to 3A. In 3A they would have to play both Sycamore and Cheatham Co. as region games. There's no way those three teams would not be placed within the same region. That would make things very interesting on Friday nights in the fall around the county. The baseball and basketball teams already have great rivalries and I for one would love to see the rivalries in football take on the same kind of meaning as far as it relates to playoff status.
  7. Marshall Co. will be very good again this year. They have a great back in Braden. They have an efficient QB that spreads the football around well in Morris. The defense will be good with Murphy returning to lead a group that was 100x improved from the previous two years (2005 & 2006) in 2007 under Thomas & Co. Losing players like O'Neal, hightower, and Greer hurts but the Tigers have the young talent to overcome those losses. Region 5-3A as a whole is going to be awfully good in 2008. David Lipscomb returns Rogers, Lehning, Simpson, and a great group on their front 7 defensively. If the Mustangs can replace Holt, Moneypenny, and Davis in their offensive backfield and find two more tackles like they had in Hunt & Cannon then they'll make another run at a state title. Marshall Co. returns what is listed above........... Giles Co. returns Wallace at QB. He can flat out sling it around the yard folks. The Bobcats backfield will be good again with both Tobias and Cory Houston back this season. Rico Brown is one of the top receivers in the midstate. On defense Birdsong is a beast and Turner should really be a force this year. If Giles can find that second receiver on offense and reload in the defensive secondary then they'll be right back in the region title picture. Cheatham Co. returns nine starters to both sides of the football. Potts is back for a full season at QB. Wilson, Rhinehart, and Adkisson are all back at receivers. Anderson is back at tight end. The line is virtually the same on both sides of the football. If the Cubs can find someone to get pressure on the QB and find an every down back to be as reliable as Rhinehart was down the stretch last year then they'll return to the postseason for a 7th consecutive season. Page returns the top offensive player in the region in QB Blake Neel. He is a really nice football player. Both Meenach and Bagsby return as primary receiving options for Neel to get the footbal to. Lankford is back to join Neel in the Pats starting offensive backfield for the third consecutive season. If the Pats defense is able to get stronger against the run and keep their offense out of "must score" situations then they'll make a run at the playoffs this year and may win a playoff game or two once they get in. Creek Wood returns a tremendous backfield in T.E. Stokes and Caleb Bell. Both players have excellent build and run the football with a purpose. Defensively the Red Hawks are going to have to replace Tucker and Hill and on offense they have to replace a good athlete at QB in Dollard. if the Red Hawks are able to run the football on offense and continue to hit people the way that they traditionally have on defense under Daniel & Co. then they'll be in the thick of the playoff hunt. I still believe David Lipscomb is the team to beat in the region. They are perfect against the region for three years. Spring Hill will be a rebuilding project for Scharsch in his first year. Montgomery Central is still anotheryear away but they should be more competitive this upcoming season. Outside of those teams I believe #2-#6 in this region will be as highly contested as in any region across the state.
  8. The 2008 season should bring plenty of excitement to White House. AGAIN, they will be the favorite to win the Region 4-3A crown. Porter & Co. will by far and away have their best shot at making a run at a state title. I said OVER & OVER that last year wasn't the year but this next year the Blue Devils better make the run if they are ever going to do it. Allen, the Paynes, the Neals, Barrett, Boone, Dixon, etc. will all be players with heavy experience. Both Pearl Cohn and Station Camp lost a lot of experience from last year. The Blue Devils are going to have to beat Station Camp in the regular season and they are certainly going to have to beat Pearl Cohn in the playoffs if they ever want to be considered an elite team. They have done neither of those two things the last two years. The regular season games against Alcoa and Beech are intense but they are not obstacles like those are two teams present in front of WH's goal to win a state title. If White House EVER....wants to win a state title they have to: a.) beat Station Camp in week nine to earn homefield in the playoffs b.) take advantage of homefield in the playoffs and beat Pearl Cohn If both of these things are NOT accomplished in 2008 then White House's season to come will be a huge disappointment. ANYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS!!!!!
  9. Harpeth does not play Cheatham Co. in football. They do not want to play Cheatham Co. in football. Loope took the Cubs off of Harpeth's schedule at the end of 2006 when he called Finley and told him point blank that he was tired of getting drilled by Cheatham Co. year in and year out to begin each season.
  10. Pearl Cohn will not be a super power like they have been these last two years but to say that they are lying about scholarships and that they will finish in the Region 4-3A cellar is an understatement. Tony Brunetti has guided that team to the state semifinals each of the last two years. Along the way he is 2 fo 2 in the playoffs against White House. He is also 3 for 3 overall against both Station Camp and Sycamore. For the last two off seasons this has been the talk on the forums. Two years ago folks were saying that Fitzgerald resigned and it took the AD, Scott Brunette, forever to hire Brunetti as the guy. They opened up the search on three different occasions prior to naming Tony as the head coach. I know guys that applied for the job. Last year everyone swore up and down that PC would be terrible. Mason was labeled as a QB that simply just "threw the football up for grabs". Losing Rashad Mason, Brian Gupton, Jeremy Gordon, Trokon Paye, and the entire starting offensive and defense line from the 2006 semifinal bunch was hard. It got even harder when Deaveon Gregory was kicked out of the school at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year. Mason had a entirely new group of receivers in Wayne Cox, Michael Venoy, and William Johnson (who transferred from LaVergne). With that being the case the quarterback who couldn't throw and simply just "threw the football up for grabs" guided the Firebirds to another semifinal appearence and in the process he won Mr. Football. Last off-season Deaunte Mason was said to be a poor quarterback. This off-season you'd swear that he is the second coming of Joe Montana the way that everyone is talking about how his loss will kill the PC football program. All this thread is about is a bunch of people HOPING THAT PEARL WILL BE TERRIBLE!!! Pearl Cohn returns all of their linemen (Popovich, Ridley, Williams, etc.). They return all of their backs from a year ago (McLaurin, Murray, and Johnson). They return Jarvis Roberts and Darrell Fitzgerald. Let's not forget that it is a MAGNET SCHOOL. This means that you have to always take into account that they'll get a few players here and there. They always do! Finally outside of Sycamore the early season region slate is not very tough. Pearl doesn't play Greenbrier, White House, and Station Camp until the end of the year. They won't be young at that time. Also if there is a school that has ever proven able to go on the road and have success in the playoffs it would be PEARL COHN. See last year as well as the 1996 state title bunch. Pearl Cohn will be a playoff team in 2008 no question about it.
