  1. Do the Jackson private schools still pull quality players from surrounding the counties? Riverside is on the edge of no where, and I cannot imagine them pulling kids from other districts or schools. I believe the are the only high school in the county.
  2. and most Private and Class AAA schools.
  3. I have seen them play several times, and trust me they are very good. They will have no problem getting to state.
  4. He should not need to pitch excessive innings, Riverside is a very strong team for Class A baseball. They are strong top to bottom.
  5. Your probably right - I have seen a few fields in Class A ball that are not much larger than girls HS softball fields. Riverside in Decatur County is a great example....
  6. What are the chances Gant goes to USJ or any other private school? I saw him pitch earlier in the year and he will not be challenged as he gets older playing in class A.
  7. This game was never close - Riverside came out swinging and Middleton had no pitcher that could stop the hitting. Middleton's players looked shell shocked, as did the coach. Not sure if they were ready to play baseball.
  8. Great event - Were the players all graduated seniors? Probably a good place for a college to round out their teams for the upcoming year. I saw several scouts in the stands . . .
  9. It's never good to show your emotions, especially when it's a tight game. I sure hope the ump did not artificially open up his strike zone because of the players emotions. Back during my days, you slam or throw a bat your were warned and the entire team was told that you were automatically out of the game if it happened again. I would just clear my throat /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  10. Ump was consistent - bad calls throughout the game. The call on Middleton's first batter in the last inning was so low the catcher had to turn his his glove down to catch up the ball. The next pitch was high - very high, but right down the middle. He made calls all day like that, but the timing was tough for Middleton, sometimes strikes, sometimes ball. ( I had a side view ). Was this Hunningto's best pitcher? He did a great job.
  11. Excellent game until JCS last at bat - Middleton could not hold on.
  12. Middleton does have a good team, but JCS was too deep. I was at most of the game this afternoon. So much for Middleton's home field advantage! They even played JCS music, which I thought was a tacky. This was the first time I saw JCS - wow what a team for such a small school. I looked up the enrollment for 2008 and was suprised to find out the high school only has, on average, 60 kids per grade! They must have the gene pool working..... From the JCS web page: District Champions: 1990, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008 Region Champions: 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2007, 2008 State Tournaments: 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007
  13. Heard gane location was changed to Union University at 4pm - due to rain. Anyone know for sure?
  14. Oops ! My bad on Tatum. He does pitch for Fayette Academy. I lumped Middleton's tourney games together. . . . I heard it was a great game, very few mistakes made by Middleton.
  15. Middlleton - excellent pitching and fielding in previous games. Tatum pitched first game in series that Middleton lost. Kid throws hard a very accurate.
