  1. Maybe I should rephrase my statement. I believe that Grace looks at these annual games/rivalry stuff a little more seriously than Temple does. I mean think about it...looking at the past 12-15 years as a whole, Temple has not really had to worry about Grace that much. I mean Grace has had the upper hand a few seasons, but not year in and year out like Temple basically has. That being said, why would Temple care as much as Grace? Just b/c Grace is a cross-town Christian school? The Temple fans I talk to say that the Grace/Temple game is only really big b/c it's a district game, not b/c it's Grace and there is something to prove or whatever. Grace has and will continue to have something to prove b/c they have consistently lost to Temple (except for those few seasons already mentioned). This is just my opinion. I appreciate both institutions and I enjoy wathcing these 2 teams play every year.
  2. I don't think there is much separation between Temple and Grace...but 21st beat SD twice already and 21st lost to Temple and Grace twice each... SD is so up and down...one day they may play Temple or Grace close then barely beat an average South Pitt. team. If it is not Grace/Temple in the finals then a major upset has occurred.
  3. Can a rivalry be one-sided? If so, then the Grace/Temple "rivalry" is a good example. Grace looks at it as a rivalry, Temple does not. (generally speaking of course)
  4. I believe Copper plays 21st tomorrow and SD plays DB Games are at Temple but not sure which gym.
  5. Great story and great pics. You can really tell that everyone in that gym was genuinely excited for Avery. Really cool story.
  6. Looks like the semi-final round SHOULD be Silverdale vs Grace and Temple vs. 21st Century... SD played Grace close once and got blown out once I know the most recent Temple/21st game was pretty close. Could be two good games potentially, but I give the upper hand to the higher seeds. As far as the finals go...Temple/Grace have actually played two entertaining games this year, but the Eagles are a better team. That doesn't guarantee a win, it certainly helps. If Shaughnessy can continue to dominate in the post and stay out of foul trouble, then Grace wins the District Tournament. Final Grace 66 Temple 62
  7. Those are good picks. What about Lowery from Silverdale? It seems like the team runs through him....of course he is the point guard so it should run through him.
  8. Tough loss for Grace...Hope it doesn't affect their confidence going into district tournament play on Saturday. From what I can tell, they played hard and just lost a close one against a decent AA school. As far as ER is concerned, this should be a big confidence boost going into their district tournament. Grace is a good team who was on 10+ game winning streak coming into the game last night. If Carter scores 16 and Herman has 27 and you can still win....that's pretty good.
  9. Grace Academy has a soph. named Brandon Herman who averages about 20 points/game. Really a dynamic player with good court sensibilities. He could be a big time player if he grows some and stays healthy.
  10. I really hope Eaglemaniac is not a Grace fan because Grace fans hopefully do not get on here and shoot their mouths off. Temple may in fact beat Grace and any reasonable fan wouldn't be shocked. Now, I expect Grace to win, but if they do not win I could see why. All that stuff about 1-0 in football etc. really adds nothing positive or constructive to this discussion. My prediction: Grace by 5 in a much closer game than last time. Temple has been playing a lot better lately (see Pickett Co. & Arts Games), but I really think Grace's size will be the difference.
