  1. That was REALLY stupid. NOBODY has once said on this thread that the refs took the game away. As a matter of fact, I even noted that we would have probably lost to Marshall anyway because they were shooting us out of the gym. If you have nothing remotely related to the topic at hand, don't waste your time-- nobody cares to read that bs.
  2. Oh good grief! If they really were fouling, then we could talk about telling them to stop. The point of that whole story was that SHE WASN'T FOULING!!!! I wasn't sure that I could have been very much clearer in my statement!!!!
  3. I do know that there is a different test that you have to take as a ref to be able to do state tournament games-- different from the regular referee test. But if all of the refs throughout the year were being watched and judged and their jobs depended on it, as did their chance to be able to ref the state games, maybe we would see better officiating throughout the year as well. And yes, the reffing during the GC game did not lose the game but it changed the momentum so as to place it in the hands of Marshall and also drew way too much attention to that idiot ref. It was ridiculous!
  4. It is VERY true that refs do not actually PLAY in games, BUT they can have a tremendous impact on the momentum of the game going to one team or another. For example, the 2 Pate fouls within 15 seconds of the game opening totally gave Marshall Co. the momentum to take that game and run. I in no way would ever take away from them as they played one HECK of a game, almost shooting 80%--- amazing, but true--- to our 20% or a little over that. The stats were horrendously one sided but how could they not be? Our girls were intimidated from the start-- blame it on youth, refs, the atmosphere, whatever you choose, but that's just that. The refs do need to realize that they are there to keep control in the game and that the players, NOT the people in stripes, are supposed to be the center of attention!!!!!!! However, GC should have been used to this terrible calling against them since we have gotten the bottem half of things all season, but NEVER has it been that bad, not even on a horrible night. The best teams make it that far, why not the best refs????? Not sure the word best and referee belong in the same sentence together, actually. Like I said, in our game, taking NOTHING away from Marshall Co., the refs were def. exceptionally bad, as I am sure they were in the rest of the games as well. It's pretty ridiculous that people fork out that kind of money to for that bull crap to go on. I know a couple who go to the state tournament every year whether their favored team is playing or not and stay for the whole 5-6 days of it and NEVER have they been more disappointed in the officiating that it influenced their opinion of going each year and made them question putting that much money into something that ridiculous.
  5. Well, I'm a little delayed on getting on here to see what all has been going on since going to the Boro. However, I went all the way back to the last thing I said and I'll address first things first. Howboutthemdogs, you need NOT ever speak to me in ignorance or with that jr. high attitude again. Let's get real; if you're going to insult someone, take a minute and make it count, k? Looks like your stay at the DOUBLE TREE didn't turn out very pleasantly afterall. I hate that I had to even deal with you but okay, now that that's over with. GC had lost from the beginning when they came out acting like they didn't want to be where they were. Youth could have played a role BUT that youth had all the potential in the world to step up and play their hardest for the seniors that they were leaving behind. The nerves didn't get all worked out during warm ups apparently, but no need on dwelling on the past now. It was a terrible match up between GC and Marshall Co. I do wish it could have been competitive. Nobody shoots as well as Marshall did against us all the time, but I give them the utmost respect and congrats for how well they did play against us. It was very obvious who came to play Thurs. As for the refs, I would have been IRATE had it been a close game and they were calling as poorly as they were. It was still pitiful, eventhough it was hard to get into the game from the GC stands. Pate should NOT have gotten 2 fouls in FIFTEEN SECONDS. AND if you go to the Jackson Sun's website there is one particular video that shows her 2nd foul and will prove to you just how bogus it was. We were done from there because not only did we not have anybody to pull off the bench to make up for her huge role, but Marshall Co was shooting us out of the gym. We couldn't catch a break whatsoever. For future reference, if the best 8 teams are going to be a this tournament, only the best referees should be there as well, to whomever it may concern. I am very proud of all the West TN teams that made it to the Boro and especially to the Lady Pioneers for a wonderful season. Look at it this way-- one of your 6 losses was to the 2008 state champs and you beat the runners up 3 out of the 5 times that you played them. Everyone worked very hard to get to where they got this season and I look forward to watching you girls next year!!
  6. Nobody could have said it better, areddevilfan!! For real, nobody, esp. coaches, can please everybody at the same time!!! I wish Bradford the best of luck! And personally, I'm a fan of Shane's coaching style.
  7. You know what, howboutthemdogs, you're right! You didn't ever say "the refs shot the ball". There, you happy? Somebody gave you the satisfaction in being right. However, nothing else you have said in this entire thread has been of any truth. But if it makes you happy for someone else to be wrong, then there you go.
  8. Absolutely, york. This is a brand new season in a sense. I mean everybody is now playing teams that they know little or nothing about, and everyday is different. Gibson Co. has seen it happen too many times-- an undefeated team go up to the Boro and come home with nothing more than disappointment. These girls know what it is like to have to fight for a win, or on the other hand, they know what it's like to have played your heart out and still not come out on the winning end. There are 7 if not even 8 players that given the chance can do some serious damage on the offensive and defensive sides of the game; so you're right, it just could be their year. Let's hope so!! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  9. OH. MY. GOSH. FINALLY somebody says it all. Thanks york. I mean really I haven't ever seen a ref shoot the ball either, though many times I've thought that they were not far from it. lol. BUT GC has earned every bit of their success, as have all the other teams that will be represented later this week/weekend. Props to you though. Thanks for the support!
  10. haha, yeah! I got ya! glad to know we are on the same page with things! are you going Thurs??
  11. Well, Westview's coach was being a baby and my friend, boyfriend and I happened to be sitting directly behind his bench and in frustration he stopped the game, threw a fit and asked the cops to make us leave. We only had to move but that was a big thing. So you weren't there? If you were I know you saw that. Um new hint, I graduated GC in 2006 and played softball.
  12. haha... if you were at Haywood the night things got a little rowdy against Westview-- I am one of the "three" /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  13. I'm with you GCPioneer! Thanks for speaking sensibly.
  14. This is ridiculous! My gosh. What's really funny to me is that 'them dogs' haven't won anything yet either! I mean all the talk is how MC is going to beat us if they get a lead. Well, last time I checked, a "lead" no matter the deficit doesn't stop the game. We have come back from plenty of deficits where we were down and won. And the excuse that we were handed a "present" from Milan is the most ignorant thing I have heard in a long time. Wow. I would love nothing more than a 6th match up of Milan/GC just to prove a few things. However, nobody is in any position to say it's going to happen. I say somebody start a Milan thread and let all that dog stuff stay in there. We Gibson County people should be rooting for everyone in the county now that we aren't in as big a competition with each other. I mean we are BOTH going to the Boro so get over the districts, regional and even sub state games. Sad that it has to continue to be like this. Milan/GC always play their hearts out each time they play each other. End of story.
  15. Amen, amen and amen! lol /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I give props to Coach Paschall and I also agree... Bradford basketball is not anywhere remotely close to where it was when the Henson girls were there. I happen to be friends with one of them now and she and her sister were truely the real deal of Bradford. Hopefully they can get a win up there; let's hope GC can too. I was at that GC/Bradford game that night and it was CRAZY. The officiating was horrendous and our girls fell apart. They just couldn't get a break. I wish Bradford all the luck in the world, but they def. shouldn't count their chickens before they hatch. In a re-match, I go with GC all the way.
