  1. Tuesdays at Blackman - Live Wrestling - Open Mat Open to all high school wrestlers. We will start at 6:00pm at the Blackman Wrestling Building. Come get your game on!
  2. I'll surely be impressed if they can muster 2-3 wins......just keep practicing...you'll get there.
  3. I just can't believe that Maryville played football and didn't win..... I'm surprised there wasn't a riot.
  4. Centrally located Murfreesboro is a great city. My neighbors just retired here from New York and they love it so far. We are close enough to Nashville to have easy access to great entertainment and culture as well as access to relatively cheap domestic and international airfares. Murfreesboro has four Class AAA high schools which provide consistently strong athletic programs in the state in all sports. Most notable for wrestling is Blackman High School.
  5. I think it should be done just like a dual meet...one match at a time. Girls 1st, then A-AA, DII, and AAA. Everyone gets awards after its all over. I thought it was an embarrassment to see the building almost empty by the time 220 and 285 wrestled.
  6. Then I have met a lot of insane coaches. Coaches, who were at GP West, did your team shower at Brentwood after wrestling? And I respect your opinion as well. Since you have been on the front end of this movement, are there statistics on how many kids have gotten a skin infection/disease directly as a result of this facility? I know plenty about being sued and in order successfully argue a case, you have to prove damages beyond a reasonable doubt. Who has skin disease as a direct result of the venue? Is there one verifiable case? Recently the Kids AAU State was held in an Ag Center in Cookeville. Were there skin diseases directly attributed to the use of that facility as well? You all can argue all you want with me, but that is the argument you better be prepared to fight if skin/disease and showers are your battle cry. So far, I am not hearing a lot of compelling reason if I am the TSSAA. Now with all that said, I am FOR a different venue, but its going to cost money. Someone else is going to have to pay that money besides me and you. If you want someone else like the TSSAA or perhaps the State of Tennessee to cover those costs, I think we should focus on the pomp and circumstance and the total experience for our youth. I think that should be the issue on top of the list. Perhaps we should send the Governor pictures of the venues in use in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, etc. (has anyone made a list?) The health benefits (and I am sure there are some) should be below that. JMHO....Bash away.
  7. I hear what you guys are saying and Im not arguing but no one answered my question. How many high schoolers shower at GP West? Cleveland? Heck, for that matter how many shower at school after a regular season dual? My guess is VERY few if any at all. They almost all wait until they get home. That's a fact. Personally, I think the no shower at the cow palace argument is very weak if that is the main reason we are going to use to convince a change. I think the atmosphere there leaves a TON to be desired compared to what we see in other states so that should be the main focus.
  8. Who actually showers anyway? How many kids shower at GP West or at the Cleveland duals? I've never seen AAU kids shower at an all day tournament. I know this seems to be the battle cry against the cow palace but it doesn't hold a lot of water.
  9. Nothing wrong with a 32 man bracket...Everyone deserves a chance. When small schools have the numbers, their bracket size should increase too.
  10. Two comments from posters et the bg daily news about sums it up. bank posted at 8:36 pm on Sat, Feb 22, 2014. I'm a former KHSAA football official. This was a terrible display of fair play and character by those involved. Not surprised that BG had not the guts nor courage to honor their prior committment. What goes around, comes around, eventually. Well played "Purple Nation", you embarrassed an entire town with this action. Wallace is a bully, and tries to intimidate officials, with threats of black lining them from future games. Call it his way, or never call a game at BG again. Just the way it is. Now he's caught manipulating, even indirectly, a result, and he runs away like the bully that just got punched in the face. What a great example of leadership for our future young men. Wuss. jake22 posted at 3:13 pm on Sat, Feb 22, 2014. Not a fan of either school, but I did watch the video of last years game and the Kentucky officials gave themselves a big black eye.....complete lack of character and integrity. Now BG makes Kentucky look even worse by breaking their contract and running scared from the game this year....just take your butt whipping like a big boy and go on back up to Kentucky and then you never have to play another team from Tennessee again. If I had anything to do with it, those officials would NEVER officiate another game, a man that will use his authority against a 15, 16, 17 year old kid is about the lowest form of human that exists.
  11. It worked well for Chattanoogans - Not so much if you were from Memphis or anywhere left of Monteagle.
  12. HOw many students did they have in 1997? As of 2012 the whole county only had 24K people.
  13. What I really think is sad is all those AAA medalists who were 3rd 4th 5th or whatever see those AA State Champs and do not envy them or their accomplishments for the most part. It's not the same with DII.
  14. ^^^^^ YEP. I have seen that guy a bunch in Chattanooga. He gets so mad if you question him or if fans dont like the call.
  15. Yeah, if you think Dooley is beating Popp you are delusional and haven't been watching 160s this year.
  16. Wow....that's a great perspective. Why so combative on the subject HSDAD? Anytime anyone posts about having nicer medals, you are jumping up and down condemning their opinion? Why? So what - - you never worried about the size of the award....I spoke to several kids who medaled after state. All of them were proud of the award but none remarked about how cool it was or how they can't wait to show their friends. One of our kids had the ribbon around his neck and held the medal out to show his friend and it came off the ribbon. The current TSSAA medals are cheap and unremarkable. PERIOD.
  17. I'd love to see the explanaion for that one. That was the most horrible call of the tournament in my opinion.
  18. I agree on the medals. The absolute least that could be done would be to attach them to a ribbon which could hang around the neck. It seems cheap to me. There are a couple other big tournaments in TN that do not provide a lanyard either and I felt the same way. When I see those kids on the podium holding up the small plastic bag it seems sad. Same goes for the state medals. Can we not afford a bigger medal?
