  1. Did this happen again? Or are you referring to last year?
  2. I stand corrected on my arithmetic..I guess, I ment 16-14..I remember we lost by not gaining our extra points after a score and they did.
  3. Get your facts striaght...He was CBFO's roster for the 2007 season. Played for the Webb Middle School team in the regular season. He then joined CBFO in the playoffs. I am not saying CBFO could not have won the championship with out him. I do know this to be fact also. When we played CBFO in the regular season. At the end of regulation the score was tied 8-8. Myself and the other coaches pushed for overtime. We thought there was a overtime rule, as there was in 2005 and 2006. We'll there was not in 2007. The Refs thought we were right and let us play overtime. We lost 14-13 in overtime. At first the Parks and Rec. department was going to count it as a tie. But, CBFO put up a fight(as we would have if we won). The Parks and Rec. dept. concedded and called it a win for CBFO. Keep in mind Caleb did not play in this game, seeing as he was playing for Webb. If the game went down as a tie. Due to win loss records, Bearden would have been in the playoffs and CBFO would have went to the house. So Caleb was the difference for them in the playoffs. If my memeory serves me correct CBFO beat Halls and Fulton in the playoffs (with Caleb) and got there butts waxed in the regular season by these two teams (without Caleb). Your attiutde is typical about this program...If it works for you, its not cheating. If it hinders you, its cheating..
  4. Well, good luck with the rest of your season..Tell the Karns faithful to be patient with Coach Reeves. I know that guy talks a little of the wall, but he has a great staff and know his "Poop" about football, imo.... I know how you guys feel to about other league teams and kids going to other schools. Catholic,Cak, and Webb, get alot of tallent that would otherwise be at Bearden. I will say, as a parent, if I could afford it, my children would be at one of the three. We lose many players in our rec. program to Pilot and CBFO. I know your frustration here too. Just thank God for the community support you get from Karns. We do not even have that..
  5. I have no control over what happens in high school football. Mr. Halliday actually came to Bearden for his 8th grade season. His father starting saying, he needs to play Qb. I was not there, but my understanding is our commissioner bassiclly ran him off. In reality though, could you not blame the Halliday's for not wanting to play ball at Karns High? I have meet Coach Reeves. I like the guy. I think he will have some success. Once that happens you might not have to worry about your kids transferring out. No one has answered my questioned either. What is the freashmen's record? My first comment was leaning more towards "Footballdads" fiirst comment. He was IMO...making out the last years super midget team to be a strong team..Which, you(by your comments above) and I know to be different.
  6. Your are talking to one of the people that had Knox. Co. parks and rec. do devise the Caleb Balnc rule. As of this season, no one who plays for another team, whether it be middle school or rec. league can not join another. I have my facts straight as an arrow. I have coached in Knox Co. rec league since 1999. Have been a coach in the Super Midget div (XFL) for the last 3 season. All any theam needs to do is request to be in this division. We have 18 kids on our XFL team and 16 Kids on our NFC team. I have not seen Karns this year. I know last year I counted around 30 players. Thats plenty for 2 teams. We played West last saturday they had 37 players. If you think your coach is willing to step up. Tell him to talk to his commissioner and step up to the XFL. Or if you guys like bragging about being the tallest midget, stay in the AFC.. By the way, last year. We played that AE team you lost to. My XFL team beat them 32 to 6.. We did not even make the playoffs in the XFL. This is why, I question how good these freashmen really are. Those are the facts, other than my "midget" comment... All but 4 of my players went to the same high school. We did not recruit any either. I know you will ask...It was Bearden High...The 4 we lost was to West high..
  7. What is the freshmen's record, so far. I know they did well as super midgets last year. But, they played in the less talented and athlectic divisions (AFC or NFC). Karns, West, and Carter are notorious for "hiding" in the lower divisions and beating up on the smaller kids other programs put in there.
  8. I see you googled JJ and took his weight from the first site choice. When he showed up at UT he was 150lbs approx. In June before his Senoir year he weighed 175lbs. How do I know this? Glad you asked... He was making fun of me at Bearden High being a 200lb. lineman. I called him a midget and told him to step up on the scale. 175lbs on the nose. What the heck is 5 lbs anyway. Orange, if he is in town let me know. I would like to see him.
  9. This discussion is going way out into left field now. But, I'll put my 2 cents in(like always). If we are going to compare Devrin to past UT players. Here is one that is proof, little guys can make it and make a impact. The kicker too, he was from Karns High. JJ McClesky. 5'8'' 175lbs. I have seen JJ play many games. Devrin will be better than him.
  10. Finally!!! Somebody that knows football and is not just a fan. In my heart last night, I know it was a LONG-------------------------------------------------SHOT for Bearden to win. A win would have been the only thing that would had made me feel better last night. I was so happy that our boys showed alot of grit last night. They were playing a GREAT team(witch I will be pulling for to win state). They made alot of mistakes and were in it until the 4th quarter. I understand about being a fan and wanting to say, that we could of beat you 50 to 0. The way I see it, if you could have , you should have. Please explain to me why you didn't. I have no problems getting beat by a better team. I have problems just rolling over and taking dry though. Yes, we are young. We will be better. I am not going to start the "Wait til Next Year" chant either. We got beat by a very good team. If you say that Devrin is not a special football player, you either a hater or know completly nothing about football. There is not one other player in the state of TN, I would rather have than him. Why? Because he is a great player and a better person. He is also a Sophmore, that is already making most upperclassmen look slow. He will continue to get better the rest of this season and the next two.
  11. Orange, Let all these comments go from the Farragut faithful. It is what they do best. They are born jerks and smart A$$'s. They all remind of the "little phrat boy mascot". You know they type. Got the big mouth, start a fight with 2 people, then go run behind 25 big guys. They are like a zit on your butt. Ignore them and they go away. They are very simple. Why, do you think Lexus had to invent a car that would park itself?
  12. I think most people can agree we seen a good game last night. It was much better than the score reflected. As a young team with 5 turnovers and playing a powehouse, I think Bearden done a great job. Who ever said the score could have been 48 to 0, your nuts. If it was a turnover free game, DB wins 17 to 14. For you guys that are "Hatin" on Devrin Young, go talk to #25. I bet, he has all the respect in the world for him. Good Luck, Indians on the rest of your season. I wish you the best, stay injury free.
  13. Why don't you and Plowboy call Dr. Phil. At least email each other.
  14. This is the first, and probally the only time, I will agree with you, Whack Job!
  15. Your right...But, I did see an offense that could not click. A defense that pressured the QB in 1st half and get 4 int. Then play soft in the second half and make Craft look like a 1st string QB. The offense abandoned the running game late, when it was working well. First, game against a injured unranked team, that made us look bad, good grief. No to mention, where are the Alvin Harpers, Jamal Lewis', and Al Wilson type of recruits/players coming to TN. Do you not think the coaches have anything to do with this? I know we have a few good ones, but UT is not stacked anymore. Go look at Majors last 10 seasons at UT. We fired him for about the same Win/Loss record. I have supported Fulmer, since he was hired. At around 11:45 pm last night, I seen the writing on the wall. Speical teams were horrible. Punt team and field goal kicker cost us 10 points(I will let 2, 50 yard plus attemps slide) and the game. Offensive game plan and exacution was worse. The defense in the second half, could not stop a 5 and out from the Tight end if he was on a hovaround. I am sure the coaches had nothing to do with this either.
  16. I have 4, 35 yard line seats for the UT-UAB game. Will let go for 2 for a $1 or all 4 for $3. Must have valid Alabama drivers license for purchase. I know this has nothing to with HS football. This is just my way of protest until a coaching change is made.
  17. It is good to have a little banter. As a Bearden fan, I am worried. If we do pull out a win, please forgive me in advance. I may become a bit of a troll. I just hope to see a good game friday night.
  18. IMO... Bearden gave away the first half and the Refs took away the second. It hurt. Good luck to everyone. Hope your guys heel up fast.
  19. Well, we have the skilled players to beat anybody. It will up to our line play though to allow them to do it.
  20. DBFAN91 He is a very tallented soph. RB/DB. Is a bit on the small size, but can juck and burn with the best. Has moves like Reggie Bush and Barry Sanders. Speed like Carl Lewis and Justin Gatlin. He has 4.4 speed in pads and get to full speed in 1 and half steps. He is a special player, to say the least. I started a big up roar in another forum by saying, "He is the best running back in the state". I will still stand by my quote. If, I was coaching High School football, this is the kid, I would want in my back field. In the first 2 games, and his first 2 varsity games. He has 2 interceptions, 2 touchdowns, and around 400 all purpose yards.
  21. Carlos, you know I am a Bearden fan & a Devrin fan. I hate to say it, but it probally a long shot on this one. I hope, I am DEAD WRONG. A few things will need to happen and the Gods will have to smile on us all night. First, Devrin will have to play the game of his life (so far). This to me will be a given. He is a clutch player and plays at his best under pressure and in big games. The will need a cornerback to step up, to give him a rest on defense. Second, his O-Line will need to play just as good as him. Third, the passing game will need get rolling to take pressure off the run. Fourth, the D-Line will also have to take charge of the trenches. Bearden is young, this is the first true test for these players. Tallent wise, these players can play with anyone. It is the maturity level that I am concerned about. Bearden can win. I am sure they will make a game of it. We will get our money worth. Will Sensabaugh be playing? I seen in another forum his elbow was injured.
  22. Not trying to start a big debate. I beleive tonight will be a good game. But, as far as Devrin being fumble prone.. Nothing can not be further from the true. I have watched and coached this kid since he was 7. He has fumbled in this time, like any RB would. But NOT fumble happy at all. His mechanics and technique are better than his speed and tallent.
  23. LOL..I know what your talking about.. I only had the pleasure of beating Farragut at football, 1 time when, I was at Bearden. But, it is sure a sweet memory. As far as RC cola...You must be a little older than me. It wasn't very popular with my genoration. I wish, I could say we got Cokes after the game. But, it was the "BEAST" at Benjy's deli for us..That was every Friday and Saturday night. Now, instead of Benjy's, its the Food City on Middlebrook (old site of Benjy's). Instead of the "BEAST", its Mic. lite. The one thing that hasn't changed is the love for the Dawgs.
  24. I have to agree, a bit. I think back in the 80's when the schools did not play each other for a few seasons, the rivalry fell off. I know for Bearden, Farragut is #1. Due to region standings, DB would be #2, and we love to beat up on Karns. West has definatley taken the "back burner" role for Bearden. Maybe if we could get 5 or 6 good close games, both teams tradeing off wins, it could put some fire back into it.
