Gibbs 9 Dekalb 1. Go Lady Eagles!!!!! I am biased since my niece is #5 Emilee Solomon=-)

Gibbs has one of the top pitchers in the state with Danielle Thomas. She had 0 runs scored against her in district play and less that 20 runs total for the season. She held Ooltewah to 2 runs in The Cho-Cho Classic. They have great catcher behind the plate with a great arm Suzanne Neubert and they have 4 freshman who can hold thier own. Emilee Solomon went 10-13 in the district tournament and has been on fire the last part of th season. I am putting my money on Gibbs just because Coach Mitchell has the experience and the girls have the drive and heart to win it. Coach Mitchell loaded thier schedule up with AAA and AAAA teams so they would be ready to play at the state. Good Luck Lady Eagles!!!!!

Metal cleats should be outlawed in all associations. Gibbs lost their second baseman last night because she was cleated by a girl from Baylor. The laceration was so deep they had had to take her to the hospital for stitches. What purpose do metal cleats have? I play travel mens ball and we have all gone to turf shoes because they do less damage to your feet and you get a great grip. The only drawnback is playing in the wet.

How did the Gibbs girls look? I heard they ran out of gas in the finals but they looked very promising overall. I think they may be under everyones radar and may surprise some people from what I have read on other posts. Thanks

Thanks for the info. I live in Atlanta and don't get to see the girls play so I try to get as much info off here as I can. My neice plays RF for Gibbs and her name is Emilee Solomon. I think that is her first homerun over the fence ever. Do you know where they are playing this weekend? Thanks

I thought I heard that Gibbs beat Maryville last night 3-2 on a 7th inning walk-off homerun by a freshman. Can anyone confirm this? Who was it that hit the homerun?
