  1. 6-1 loss after a 3-0 win a few weeks previously...that's a huge score defecit for a state match. did JPII just give up after a goal or two? I can't see them losing that badly having given their best effort for the whole match.
  2. McCallie's game is definitly at 6:30 central time on Friday. The game was moved because of a graduation issue.
  3. Agreed. the two top teams in the Chatt. area distinctively. and thanks for the time, i wouldn't miss it
  4. thanks...looking forward to a Mccallie/Baylor rematch.
  5. was he at 100%? and you are right about mccallie/notre dame...rediculous amount of shots and no goals. NDs keeper surprised all of us mccallie fans by making several outstanding plays/saves when we were trying to take advantage of murphy's absence. and what time is the game on tues? wouldnt miss it
  6. yikes, 1-1? how was the goal scored? the score of this game beats all predictions...was carter in for this game?
  7. Brad certainly did have an excellent game, and while mccallie's lack of further goals was largely due to him, there were some blatant chances that mccallie just didn't finish. they had a missed PK, and several other chances right in front of an open net. just didn't land. regardless, mccallie dominated the possession and the flow of the game, but kudos to CCS and the keeper for keeping us off the scoreboard to that extent.
  8. senior night for McCallie. I predict a 4 or 5 to 0 win for the blue.
  9. Finally, McCallie is over Baylor in these rankings. I was wondering when it was going to happen.
  10. not exactly sure, but i heard that if that were the case (baylor winning 2-0) then it would just come down to a coin toss. which in my opinion is a rediculous way to potentially decide who goes to state and who stays home.
  11. After seeing the way Webb played against McCallie this past friday, i would say they have little chance of pulling out a victory over baylor. the real question is how badly baylor will beat them, as i think they need a 3-goal differential or higher to take the #1 seed. going to be an intense game either way, especially since webb has beaten baylor for the past 2 years.
  12. Big region game. Predictions?
  13. How serious are these injuries? I hope these guys can get back into their season soon.
  14. then keep your mouth shut and your posts to yourself it you don't know what you're talking about. ah i can't wait for MC to play ND. thats what's gonna be funny
  15. the handball wasn't blatant. it hit the defender somewhere around the armpit after bouncing off of his chest. even if it was a valid handball, which is debatable, if this is the only thing you can find wrong with the officiating, then kudos to the ref. and cincyred, with the "shoe on the other foot" even agreed that the refs did a good job. as for baylor, im sure a win with a PK would have been better than a tie, but anyone would rather win off of a legitimate goal, especially if said goal was the deciding factor. please bother to read what other people have posted about this subject before you attack me for bias, especially about something as controversial as refereeing. thanks.
  16. how is CCS looking this year? i havent seen any of their games and im curious. have they played any formidable teams yet?
  17. I agree 100% with this post, especially about the refereeing. the calls were consistent, he let the boys play, which is better for this kind of a game. and even though jesse and zander were both deserving of yellows, it was in the best interest for the control of the game not to award them. great job mr. referee. he called a spectacular game, which is usually rare in chattanooga /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  18. I'm a Mccallie student and an avid soccer fan, but i am not a player and definitly not a parent. and i never said anything bad against danny, where are you getting that? i said he's a great goalie, he just didn't get any action in this game, so i don't see why he was put in the standout section. as for the MC goalie, he had a good game thats all.
  19. and you would give this version of what didn't happen being zander's dad and all...
  20. VERY well put, i've observed consistent bias with his posts as well. and the paper usually makes mistakes with these games...what did they say kelly smith's last name was? griffin or something...hahaha. Danny VV in the standout section could have easily been a misprint...maybe they meant to put Higgins. no disrespect to danny, great keeper, but never had to do anything spectacular in this game. his punt was dwarfed in that game, though..
  21. how were they lucky? there were only about two major SOG in the second half, and they were both saved.
  22. I agree, this was a very, very physical game. However, I continue to think that the game would have lost much more control had the referee thrown out the cards to every little thing. yes, maybe a couple of Hill's wins in the midfield were a bit on the aggressive side, but if a card was given to him, then one wouldve needed to have been given to several other players on both teams. For example, Kelly Smith employed his usual deplorable tactics, making an animated dive in the first 5min to get the red a FK awarded. this was called once. after that one time, the ref vocally cautioned kelly and carter for diving. two of the most gifted actors i've ever seen play in high school. i thought the ref did a good job recognizing it consistently throughout the game. Your recount of the little scene at the end with zander/hill/jesse was a laughably twisted version of what actually occured. One, Hill wasn't even involved in that play, it was Cartter Kerr. Cartter stole the ball from zander, who immediatly retaliated by riding cartters back. cartter stopped because he heard the whistle, while zander kept going after the ball and trying to hack cartter at the same time. this was a good 3sec after the whistle had been blown. eventually, jesse, who was tired of seeing zander foul all over kerr after the whistle had been blown so long ago, ran in and pushed the already-infuriated zander to the ground, possibly saving kerr an injury. zander threw a nice little hissy fit after that, having completely lost his head awhile ago. it was zander, not jesse and cartter, who claimed not to have heard the whistle, as he was the only player on the field still going for the ball. everyone else had stopped. and this 0-0 tie was not by any means a "win" for mccallie, our mids/forwards were hanging their heads after the game, frustrated by the number of opportunities that they couldn't finish. according to today's paper, mccallie outshot baylor 12-10, danny VV having made 4 saves and matt H having made 3. everything else was off-frame. that doesn't look like a "win" to me. it looks like a "loss" because the blue had more opportunities.
  23. it was an unintentional arm-ball in the box, and oliver's arm was at his side...really a case of if the ref is willing to make a picky call and give such a close and great game away on a pk. and i only saw jesse get redfaced after he floored zander. i didnt mean to rip on him, he's a great player, but he lost his head in the second half, and in my opinion he got his just desserts for riding kerr's back like he did. haha, i just want to see what happens when these two teams can't end in a 0-0 tie. i think the past 3 B vs M games have ended regulation time with that score. two excellent defenses combined with two great offenses that somehow can never seem to just put the ball on frame... and the rant wasn't directed just at you, though it mightve seemed that way. im just defending an excellent mccallie team who don't seem to have favor on these boards
  24. You make it sound like baylor dominated this game, and only didn't win because they couldn't capitalize. this was not the case. not by a long shot. this was one of the most two-sided games i have ever seen, not to mention a crazy intensity level from both teams/fans. baylor did not control the game. they only had one decent shot on frame in the whole second half (zander wide open from about the 10), and still the MC keeper saved it. zander had a rough game, got knocked around quite a bit there in the late 2nd half, much to the amusement of the mccallie fans. as for the throw-ins from roden, they are indeed a thread and it is quite impressive how far he can throw the ball, especially dangerous on the offensive half of the field. and i agree he is a strong defender. however, to say that the red's defense kept everything out and controlled the game is just biased and inaccurate, as anyone who saw the game could tell. there were multiple times in the first and second halves where the ball bounced around the goal mouth and the six, baylor scrambling to clear it out. kerr and crabtree ripped holes in the fab back-4, and it actually surprised me that not even one of the multiple opportunities landed. hill johnston and jesse morgan played like animals, dominating the head-balls in the midfield area shutting down both kelly smith and zander davis. especially zander davis. oliver benton won nearly every header in the back, and really saved the blue from the potency of roden's throw-ins. matt higgins in the net kicked the ball 18 to 18, even winning a corner kick off of one. the defensive half of the team played solid the whole game, and kept their composure, for the most part. the game gave a hint of getting out of control there at the very end, when jesse sat zander down. two yellows could have been given there, but the ref wisely kept it in the pocket and let the boys play, which was for the wiser. i applaud #12 on his streaking runs down the line: they successfully created more lethal scoring opportunities that kelly smith could boot over the net. one of the best and most intense games you can get in this area, even though it was scoreless. great job to both teams for a very entertaining soccer game.
