  1. Is that the only 2 pitchers for F.C.? Where's Medley??? Is he in the rotation this year? How about Sells or Miller?

    Franklin County

Whats going on at FC this week? Haven't heard anything in the last few days.
  3. Dizzy Dean from the pressbox, watching a young couple in the stands--- I think I've got it He kisses her on the strikes, she kisses him on the balls..
  4. does anyone have a better record than FC, district or overall.
  5. Runner thrown out stealing 2nd. Casey He had larceny in his heart, but his feet were to honest!!!
  6. Chris Brown from Franklin Co. Maybe some as good??? Nobody is better. Great arm, bat, blocker, receiver, calls a good game, baserunning terror.
  7. Does anyone remember Jill Mitchell? Best turnaround jumper I can remember. Shelbyville sometime in the 80's. I believe injuries shortened her career.
  8. Franklin Co. has a jr. catcher, Chris Brown, he will be a good one to watch. Great receiver, blocks, has the arm to play and can hit and run. Has played behind a good catcher last year in senior Barnes. Could be better.

I don't think Marshall Co. will have any trouble having a quality bball team. Can't imagine no baseball in MC..
  10. We talk all the time about money in the school systems. Where would the funding come from? This would be another exspence that we can't afford. Let the summer leagues provide the teams for the kids.

Its been nearly 30 days since " the call" has been brought up. So give it up.
  12. I didn't mean for the good attitudes to go with the traveling teams. I think the BR teams have the best attitudes because of the local league play. Players don't want to show a bad attitude when maybe thier best friend is on the other team. Local leagues bring out the best most of the time. Nothing like knowing your competion and maybe seeing them every day at school, church, etc.. Travel teams see their compo. sometimes only on the field. Not many family members get to follow their travel teams. In local league, your whole family may be their night after night.
  13. Your right about your coach. He is an excellent baseball coach. I have had the priviledge of playing against his teams for several years now. Personally like him as a person. In 1997 when F.C. won the state, we defeated a very good M.C. team in the sub-state. Got to the S.E. regional, looked up, and Hollingsworth was the first person I saw. Said he liked watching our team play. F.C. also has a small group to pick from. I believe we had 32 fifteen year olds to chose from. I have heard a lot about how weak Babe Ruth is compared to the pure travel teams. Whats your opinion of this? Personally I think they are some of the best coached and have some of the best players around. I know they have the best attitudes and take the game seriously.
  14. I think if they can afford to and time permitts, then they should travel. Anytime you can do this it will improve the quality of your ball team. And that is what we are trying to do. Travel teams miss out on the competition and fun of playing on or against a team from your hometown. If your from Marshall Co. and beat a team from say Memphis, so what, the experience is good, but the fun don't last. If you are from Marshall Co. and beat a team from say Chapel Hill, now there's something to do. These Hometown memories will last a life time...

Of course we use the box. How can you have a rule that says he must stay in the box untill the pitcher releases the ball,( both feet) without having a box. You would think that a game in the state tournament would be importatant enough to use the rule book. Box or no box the catcher was way out of the area. Timeout had been called when the runner reached third. Coach talked to the pitch and catch, probably instructing them on how to handle the squeeze. The play had been run successfully in the inning before. Ump should have called the balk, as it is a judgement on whether he was in the box or not before the release of the pitch. He was out of the lefthanders batters box when he caught the ball. No excuse for letting this slide. Ump has the power to judge where the box is, simply saying there is no box drawn I can't make that call is unacceptable. That call turned out to be the most important in the tournament. QUESTION: how would you teach on defensing the squeeze?
