so it is june 5th of 2008, and is there any word? maybe we need to begin to think about moving our children. Rossview is just up the road and Kenwood down the road. would our children have a better opportunity at one of these schools?

what will happen to the program if the coaches there now are released? a new head coach may bring in his own para professionals and release those that are working in the program. just a though, all that work and the new head coach releases all the men. is there a work out program at the school, all i heard is that they condition daily and don't lift much. this is not good for the region comp. all wiliamson county schools are lifting, conditioning, and working on getting better. i see NE in the bottom of the region and not winning a game this year now.

I have friends that work in that building, and one of the former finalist was a close friend. He decided that metro is a better place to stay after being lied to by the administration. They told our boys they were close in Feb, March, April, May, and now it is June. The booster club was promised that a head coach would be named by Spring practice, and our boys were let down. Then our booster club was told the new head coach would be named by the end of May, but he was smart and stayed with Springfield. So what is the issue at hand? We need a highly qualified educator to teach in the building, but from what I understand from a metro coach is that Northwest was 9-3 under a coach that did not teach in the school. Montgomery Central has Ricky Ray that is not even a teacher in the school, and Independence has a head coach that teaches at the middle school. So please think what are the facts: administration that has screwed up, an AD that thought she knew what she was doing, and now a program being ran by para professionals that condition all practice, and have no knowledge of schemes and how to run a program. Our boys will have a tough year.

that is crap, what was their excuse when they had a finalist in Feb, and told him there was not a position available. when in fact it was posted in May! then they told another finalist that they did not have his position that was also posted in May! Lastly they told a gentleman from Marshall County that he was not qualified, but he teaches Math. that position was posted in May also. plus what are they doing with the position watkins held. he was moved to business leaving a position open, but i guess that is being held for a qualified coach. coachwhoknows, answer this! Why is there a coach that has applied 5 times, teaches a Burt, and has never received a phone call back? Mr. Kendrick would be a good coach, but why have they not called him back after he has left phone calls and emails? I know of three others from the metro area that also have yet to receive calls. This administration needs to discuss the situation and not lie to one another on a daily basis. So with your vast knowledge coachwhoknows, what is the hold up now? Don't defend the administration about teaching positions when they have had positions available. This whole situation is a load of crap!

Clarksville has a belief that a school that is over 1500 we need to create a new school. The powers to be believe that schools over 1500 cause problems and are incontrollable. This is why they build new schools every 5 years. Get ready, there are 2 new high schools projected to open in the next 10 years. One more off exit 4, and one more in the Sango Area. There is also talks about creating Liberty High School before 2020. So the talent will just continue to spread every 4-5 years. Believe it or not, Clarksville has a good educational system, but not having soldiers at home has caused great problems in the past 5 years. When your parents are not home to make sure children learn you have problems with discipline. Look at the criminal volence with the youth of Clarksville. How many of your friends have been arrested the past few years. I am a avid viewer of Montgomery County Sheriff Department Web site and see young men and women arrested daily. A former star running back was arrested for drugs this weekend and a former star wrestler was arrested for domestic violence and that is just the icing on the cake. How many great athletes in this county do not even go to college in this county? Stop worrying about just education, but we need to add incentives in the county that allows the children to find success in all aspects of life. The reason there is so much violence is the fact there is nothing in Montgomery County for youth to do but do stupid things. Until the county puts money to the children and give activity incentives and places money in sports, there will only be problems here in the county. No Future for the Eagles unless there is emphisis placed on the children. Wait, they have already said the interest for the children. They want a positive role model to coach and educate the boys. Well do we need positive role models running the school. Role models that do not lie to the students, that truly do what they say, that don't give parents the run around, that truly want the best for the boys, and that don't break the rules of the TSSAA having no teachers instruct athletes. I see no change until the county makes an example of this crapy situation.

Is there any word yet? We have been patient, but time is about to change I think! Parents are getting more and more upset by the day!

Great post! However, we have been to central office back to Northeast to central office to Northeast to booster meetings to meetings with McWhirter to meetings with the administration to meetings with Mr. Jobe back to Northeast. So don't tell us that the parents are not doing our job by going down town. We have done our fair share, and all we have been told are lies. We need answers, but all we get is it is this group controlling the situation, they that group tells us that it is another. We keep getting the run around, and where is this new head coach promised in Feb., March, May, and now who knows. What is it going to take? Maybe the TSSAA needs to put thier two cents in this situation.

Northeast will be fine without Southerland. The assistant coaches are going to work with the boys till a new head coach is hired. Seems as if those Jr pro dads are the only people that truly care about these boys. We may surprise people this year. Any word today on a candidate being considered, and who is being considered?

The parents are working hard, but keep getting turned another direction. Each time we are close, we get told to go another way. We had a meeting that we believe we were not told the truth. What more can we do as parents, students, and a community when we are not heard even when we are voicing our concerns? This is a situation that is only causing grief. We had two gentlemen that wanted the job, with both being told they are not ready to coach. I think both have been coaching for over 8 years, but not ready to lead and guide young men from the stand point of the administration. Bringing in a new coach will be nice if we get him soon. These are great boys, and from what we saw at the Whites Creek Scrimmage alot of talent. Can they win in this region? We do believe we can compete, but only if we have the right men in place. Word is they had a coach from Franklin County, but when the new head principal came in she told him he was not highly qualified. The position he teaches is presently open. He was told that they did not have a job for him in Feb. The second coach was told he was not highly qualified in April, but this week they called him back and told him they would find him a job. He chose to stay in Springfield with his son and a Yellow Jacket team that should win their region. The boys were also told that the new head coach had to be a positive person, good role model, good with the boys, understands football, can handle discipline, and the new head coach has to be highly qualified to teach a subject they are offering. So what you are saying, as an athlete there! Northeast will hire a head and fill all positions for assistants. They have not hired anyone yet, but they will hire an entire staff soon as the new head coach is names. Dang, that is a great perception to think that they care. Northeast has yet to hire a coach, and how many professioanal coaches will be available with no teaching slots in the building. I think the problem is bigger than you boys think. How about this thought? Hire coaches from the Junior Pro league to turn the program around. There are plenty of parents coaching on Saturdays and Sundays to fill a coaching roster. Then the staff will be complete. Maybe someone should inform the administration about this idea. Northeast is a joke! Making Clarksville a Joke! I feel for you boys!

What are the other coaches doing that were there last year? Kordish is winning in Softball, Southerland is leaving the county, but are any going to coach again next year. So who is going to help the new head coach? You cannot win without a coach to direct these young men! Granted you can say lift, run, and get bigger. How? If you don't have anyone helping guide you along the way you will not find success. This is a joke! November you post a job, and it is almost June and you do not even have a plan implemented. How do you think these boys will find success?

Pretty sure if someone wanted the job they could stop by the school with resume. For a positive coach, Southerland is as positive as you get. A bit annoying at times, but the man is energetic and student oriented. They got rid of him, so how more positive can anyone get. Northeast needs an entire staff of educators to make the progression happen. With the knowledge that they may only win 3-4 games next season. This is on the hopes that they are moving back to 4A and do not lose all their athletes as they did when Rossview opened years ago. Their is talent at the school, but coaching plays a major role in the process of winning in their region. I see Northeast going maybe 2-8 next year if lucky maybe 3-7. Not on coaching, but the region is so difficult and loaded. It is May 21, 2008 and no head coach with the job posted on November 28, 2007. They passed up several great coaches such as Arrington and some inhouse. So what makes a coach qualified to coach a team that has won a total of 3 games in 3 years? What great coach wants to be in a program that needs this work? Maybe we will find out soon enough, and then I am not betting on a winner! All the good coaches are already assigned positions at new jobs, why do you all think that Northeast is a job that would bring big name coaches. I do not see them getting a top notch coach, and that is due to the fact they waisted all this time thinking they had what they wanted. In fact they let the men that cared go, and that is a shame. To the boys, get out and go to another school if you can. This school is not going to change your world, but another school may give you the opportunity. Run fast and don't look back!

So what is going on in Montgomery County? This is a shame to not have a new head coach in place now. What coaches are left, and who is running the program till the new man is appointed? So why has it taken so long? Let me guess, they wanted to make it a great surprise for all the community when they announce the new head coach. Timing is everyting you know! Gives the new head coach all summer to incoperate a new scheme, and hire quality highly qualified coaches. Any takers? Took them 7 months to hire a head coach, and will it take that long to hire assistants. Will the former coaches rethink leaving and drawl a supplement? Man this is a shame to the community of Clarksville. We look like a joke to the state of Tennessee. So are the old coaches helping out?

Lets see, more than one coach on that list was fired due to ignorance from the system. So you really need to do your home work. Plus I believe Southerland will do better outside the city of Clarksville. It is people like you that talk about people and have never worked with them. Usually the people that talk bad about people are either jealous or only speak from what they have heard. How many times have you worked with Southerland? How many times have you experienced him at work? If he is that horrible of a coach, why does he have the respect of many of the coaches and student athletes? Just another young man that influences students positively drove out of the city. Great job Clarksville. Funny this topic goes along with Coach Donahue. Clarksville is a strange place!

If Southerland is so loved why are they letting him go? This school system has issues. Maybe the administration should have hired a coach before all this. Seems as if the players are hurt due to the events as i am reading on here, and if I were a parent I would have discussed this with someone before now. Why has it taken this long to hire someone that is highly qualified, unless the new head coach is going to surprise us all and be a big name.

The administration is not that dumb. Don't worry, Northeast will have a season! It will not be a good one, but the Eagles will have a season.

Long list of coaches that have left Clarksville. Terry Arrington Tood Hood Kelly Myers Scott Lowe Rick Butler and now Chris Southerland Lowe and Hood have won state championships at Fort Campbell. Terry Arrington coached a region championship at Springfield. Rick Butler went from Oakland to The College of the South to the Nashville Kats. Kelly Myers coaches at Hillsboro that wins yearly. Now it is time Southerland test these waters. Good Luck where ever you go. What are the other coaches from last years NE staff going to do in their futures?

Southerland get out, and don't look back. Metro will enjoy you coaching there, and they pay much better. I have always wondered why young coaches leave Clarksville. Well this shows you why! Southerland was the only coach on last years staff to stay and keep the program running. So why down him nodisrespect when the others went home every evening? I bet Southerland lands a good job out of Clarksville, and returns to hand some team a whooping and it would be nice if it were Northeast. I respect what Southerland has done over there at Northeast. The man conducted spring ball knowing he was not going to be the head coach. Maybe he is smarter than we think. Took over a program that no one wanted and made improvements from what I understand. Say what you will, but Welch nor Southerland want this job. I know both well, and they do not want to take this job. I will say that at one time they both did interview and were told they are not ready to be head coaches. Southerland is leaving the school at the end of the year, and who would blame him. Maybe they should hire all the dad's to coach along with the booster club. Watkins, Kordish, Southerland, or Welch were forced to resign.
