  1. Hey coach, not that it means a whole lot but the final score of Creek Wood and White House was 42-36 Creek Wood, not White House. That would make White House 0-5 and Creek Wood 1-4. Was a very good day of wrestling and yes Ravenwood is tough.
  2. Add Montgomery Central to teams that have girls being represented.

  5. Basically they are just preseason tournaments that focus on takedowns only. At the first part of the year, thats what coaches focus on first. Usually they are 3 minute matches with a continuous clock. Kid with the most takedowns wins. They are mostly just to get the kids on the mat to get them excited about the year, and give the coaches a peek at what they need to work on before they get to their first match. Honestly don't know about any preseason tournaments going on in Chatt town, but if you want to head down to Nashville, we have one of the best in the state at Creek Wood on November 6th. If your interested in getting in, email me at coachmick.hambrick@yahoo.com.
  6. Hey coach, Creek Wood was supposed to be attending the Dawg Pound Tournament this year, do you have us penciled in?
  7. Coaches, As you know, wrestling season is just around the corner and everyone should be finalizing their schedules. We at Creek Wood would like to invite you to our place to compete in one or all of our tournaments. The first preseason tournament of the year, along with Tullahoma, is the Red Hawk Bash. Cost of the tournament is $8.00 per wrestler, not to exceed $150.00 per team. It will be held on November 6th, 2010. Wrestling will start at roughly 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Before wrestling starts we will have the hydration staff here to certify your wrestlers if you wish. Hydration will start at 7:00 a.m, for the boys and girls. In the past we have had up to 22 teams being represented. Our school is only 8 years old and there is more than adequate space for the tournament, so you won't be cramped up and hot. We will have a fully stocked concession stand and our hospitality room always impresses. We will have both girls and boys divisions and each wrestler should get 3 matches. We group wrestlers together depending on experience level, so your 1st year guy won't be wrestling a state placer. Since the season start date is farther out this year, we have decided to make this a takedown tournament instead of the traditional tournament that we normally host. Sorry if this complicates things for some of you but we felt that their wasn't enough time to do more than that in practice which would make it unfair to some wrestlers who will be competing. Teams committed so far are: Creek Wood Sycamore Montgomery Central Page Dickson Northeast Fairview Beech Greenbrier Centennial Wilson Central The 2nd tournament we are hosting is the Creek Wood Duals, which will be held on December 11th, 2010. We are hoping to secure spots for 12 to 16 teams. Cost of this tournament is $150.00 per team. We will be awarding plaques for 1st thru 4th team places and we will also award 2 best wrestler of the tournament plaques. One for 103 thru 140 and one for 145 thru 285. Weigh in's will start at 7:00 a.m. We are shooting for the start time to be around 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Once again we will have a fantastic concession stand as well as hospitality room. Teams committed so far are: Creek Wood Stratford Greenbrier Sycamore Beech The 3rd tournament we are hosting is the Creek Wood Invitational. It will be held on January 15th, 2010. Weigh in's will start at 7:00 a.m, and wrestling will start roughly 8:00 a.m. Entry fee is $150.00. We hope to have a girls and boys division at this event. We will be awarding team plaques for 1st thru 4th, best wrestler plaques for 103 thru 140 and 145 thru 285, and best match plaques. We'll have a loaded concession and an awesome hospitality room. At this moment, this tournament is full, but on occasion we may have one or two teams back out, so we are placing teams on a waiting list. Teams committed so far are: Creek Wood, Chattanooga Central White Station, Sycamore Fairview, Wilson Central Christian Co, Ky, Bearden Collierville, Univ. Heights Academy, Ky Ohio Co, Ky, Bartlett Calloway Co, Ky, Greenbrier Raliegh Egypt, John Paul II Arrlington, Stratford ****If you are interested in attending any of these tournaments, please get in touch with me at coachmick.hambrick@yahoo.com. If your tam has been left off or put on a list by accident, please let me know. Thanks, Mick Hambrick Creek Wood High School Wrestling coachmick.hambrick@yahoo.com
  8. I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers while my father was in the hospital. He did have a stroke but is finally back home resting. He was released yesterday and was eager to get home. At the present time he is having trouble talking and getting on the computer to communicate but I know that he would want me to thank all of you who came by to see him and everyone's thoughts and prayers. It will be a long road of therapy but he is a very determined individual, so we know he can do it. If you'd like to reach him, you can TEXT him at 615-308-2567. Once again thank you to the whole wrestling community.
  9. I talked with Rakim about 2 weeks ago and he has no intentions of going 171 this year. He's not far off from 189 right now and he looks good. He looks strong and determined. Last year he was cutting very serious weight before every match, not 2 or 3 pounds, and doesn't want to do that again this year. I personally think that he would be as good if not better at 189. Even if he decided to go 171, I don't think that there is any way that his name isn't mentioned at at either weight. As far as Matt Price goes, he does like to be the underdog, he takes that personal. I do agree that his name has to be mentioned also because I do think he is one of the states better wrestlers this year. The only problem is where he will be because I also heard that he has gained a lot of weight and is closer to 152 right now. He never has been one to really want to cut weight either. It will be interesting to see where he shows up. Oh and by the way, he did beat Hayden at Regions last year. It was one of the better matches I've seen in a while.

    189

Rakim Talley of Dickson High School will be at 189 this year. Talked to him the other day and he's looking very good and looks better than he did last year having to cut weight, looking alot healthier and stronger. He said that he is going 189 this year. He should be a force to be reconned with at 189 at state this year.
  11. Coaches, We still have available spots for our Creek Wood High School Dual Tournament on December 11th, 2010. We are hoping to get every team five matches, depending on the amount of teams entered. Cost is $150.00. We will be awarding plaques for 1st thru 4th place for teams, and we will also be awarding best wrestler plaques for 103-140 and 145-285. If interested please email me at coachmick.hambrick@yahoo.com. Thanks Thanks Again, Mick Hambrick Creek Wood High School Wrestling coachmick.hambrick@yahoo.com
  12. Hey coach, Creek Wood may be interested in returning to Kingston again this year also. I just have to check the dates to make sure they'll match up again.
  13. Yeah the Creek Wood Individual tournament is still a go on January 15th. Almost completely full, may take one or two more teams.
  14. Creek Wood Duals on December 11th. Had to change from January 8th due to a basketball game.
  15. I just wanted to thank everyone that was involved with the Jacob Jordan Memorial Tournament. Thanks to Harpeth for putting on the tournament, to Ricky Woods and Bo Bradshaw for making it happen, to all the volunteers, all the referees, the parents, kids and coaches for taking time out of the days to come. This meant a lot to my family and my team. Beyond having trouble with the air, this tournament was great. They were some really good competitors and some very good matches. The awards were awesome and they did great with concessions and hospitality. Harpeth has always been great to us and we thank them for that. It was nice to see all of the kids that we know and hope to see you all this coming year. For those of you that have graduated, thanks for competing and good luck on the next level or endevor that you take on. Thanks again everyone, you gave us one special day in the rememberence of our son.
  16. Deadlift. I think your completely right. The dual tournament is completely different. It does show who the better team is as well as who has done a better job coaching by the stategy they use. My comments on the individual part was to say that Rossview will surprise some folks. Do I think they will win the state in either tournament ? No. Will they give teams like Bradley and Cleveland a run for their money? No. But I do think that they will surprise people with the talent that they have coming back. I also agree that the coach does make that difference and Coach Brown was the glue that kept that team together and its yet to be seen as to whether that will happen this year. If they can keep it together they will be extremely tough regardless of last years results and how many people they had place in the state. There were many kids in the past that should have placed and kids that we all predicted that would place that never did. Anything can happen in the state and kids that we think wont, can, if they bring their "A" game. I'm only commenting on Rossview because we wrestle in that region and that is the info that I am comfortable about talking about. I dont know enough about the other regions to have enough information to carry a good conversation about them. Rossview will be tough and it will be very interesting to watch them and Clarksville go at it. Clarksville only lost 2 kids but they were 2 very good kids. But as we know with Clarksville, they always have another horse in the stable. Rossview lost 2 also but the 2 that they lost were far from being there better wrestlers and once again if they can do the extra work during the summer and the coach can keep em together, we might have a very close race for the region again.. Ready for the season to start again. Oh yeah, we might even have a few dark horses at Creek Wood. They are definitely putting in the extra work this summer, We have a few going to tournaments as well as having 6 going to the Ken Chertow camps in Georgia and Pennsylvania. Who knows? We won't be giant killers but we might have a few that could mix things up.
  17. Sorry guys I didn't forget what was past Knoxville, Science Hill just slipped my mind. One of my oldest friends is an assistant coach there so I know how good they are. It was just an oversight, just like Clarksville not being in the top 10.
  18. Your right, Science Hill is one that was left out. That was a big mistake, probably should be in the top 5 at least.
  19. I coach in this Region and know most of these teams pretty well. That doesn't mean I couldn't be totally wrong, because I may be but.....Northwest may have placed higher last year but it was only because of a few kids, Wilford, Morrison, and Donavan. Theres not much past that. Wilfords gone. Clarksville is still loaded even after losing just a few. Rossview only had a few to place but I will tell you with all certainty that Gonzalez will win the region at 103 or 112 and very possibily could win the state this year. Rossview will also take 189, 215, and Heavy in our region. No one has anything for those 3 in our region. There are 4 region champs and qualifiers right there not to mention the middle meat of their lineup which is really tough and many of those were qualifiers also. I think people will be surprised by this team this year.
  20. It is a little early because anything can happen between now and the start of wrestling season. Pretty much everyone you have up there looks like a top 10 team with the exception of Clarksville NW? Maybe Clarksville but not Northwest and if you put Clarksville in that bunch, you must put Rossview, probably the most overlooked team in the mid state this year. They did tie Clarksville for the Region championship last year and only lost 2 kids and they weren't even 2 of their better ones.
  21. I did hear a rumor this weekend from a kid that should know a little bit about whats going on and they said that the guy with the pony tail (not sure what his name was) is the new head coach and some of the better kids had quit. Is there any truth to this? This Rossview team is a tough team with what they have back, I'm not so sure that any of their backups are ready to step up just yet. If they had some starters quit, that would change things dramitically. I've watched this team grow and competed with them for the past 4 years and it would be a shame not to see them finish off such an awesome run. Any word on Coach Brown and if he has picked up a job somewhere else?
  22. I doubt that anyone that Clarksville has is gonna beat Gonzalez at 103 or 112 and the next 2 or 3 weight classes are very tough also. Cary Miller is gonna be tough to beat also. This very well could be the year that someone beats Clarksville in the region tournament. But we say this every year and somehow Clarksville pulls it out so who knows.
  23. I believe that Rossview has an excellent chance to do very well next year, BUT unless they have a proven coach by now, that could change. People can say what they want about Coach Brown but I know he was a good coach. I've coached against him and know that he always has his kids ready. If they find or have found a good and proven coach they could be a hard bunch to beat in the middle Tennessee area, but a ship will always sink without a good captain. They tied Clarksville in the region last year and may even be able to beat em this year. We will see. We still have a ways before the season begins and a lot can happen between now and then.
