  1. Final...56-21 CAK. Can't say I recall seeing one quite like this. The Warriors were dominated the entire 1st qtr, went down 21-0, then who knows what happened, hard to explain. Complete domination the other way in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtr as the Warriors finish out the game with the freshmen. Congrats to CAK for the victory and moving on to the second round. That makes 11 straight playoff victories. So much for me not liking a 4-6 team getting into the playoffs. Congrats to GP for a nice season
  2. CAK takes the first series of the 2nd half and in just a few plays scores. Now 35 -21 CAK, thats 35 unanswered pts.
  3. Half time: CAK 28 GP 21 (Warriors get the second half kickoff) GP dominated the 1st Qtr including a pick 6, CAK dominated the 2nd Qtr with 28 unanswered pts. and another trip deep into GP territory that didn't get any points. This resembles a roller coaster ride at Dollywood...ha.
  4. CAK goes down by 21 pts in the first Qtr....... then the Warriors reel off 28 unanswered 2nd Qtr pts. to take a 28-21 lead....strange game.
  5. Are you still pulling up a table at BOH or have you moved on to new digs? If CAK makes it that far I will try to get over your way for lunch.
  6. GP certainly has a beautiful facility and I haven't even seen it since they added the field turf. Yes, it does get chilly in the thicket this time of year. Best wishes to both teams for an injury free affair. Go Warriors.
  7. This may be the biggest mismatch of the entire 1st round including all classes. I can't imagine anyone looking forward to this game other than Alcoa's JV players and parents. I hope there is enough gate money left over after giving the TSSAA their cut to cover York's travel expenses. It would be heart warming if York could score a few points and not have a running clock before the second half, but most likely that won't happen. I hope York will find a way to take something positive away from this impending disaster, and I hope that Alcoa is a friendly and humble host and doesn't get any of their key players injured. Here's to band burgers, fries, and a safe journey for everyone...cheers.
  8. You tornady guys are ruthless...ha. It wouldn't be funny if there wasn't some truth to it though. I also look for it to be an Alcoa vs. CPA championship game. I haven't seen CPA this year but I know they have been knocking on the door of the championship game the past few years and are cruising through M.TN this year. I think it will be a good matchup but I would expect Alcoa to win just based on history and the fact that they are upset that 2 of "their gold balls" are sitting across the river in someone else's trophy case (sorry, I couldn't resist, this has been a long hard season for us so I had to remind myself of something pleasant..ha)
  9. I'm sure the CAK staff will try to make GP throw the ball. It appears GP's bread and butter all year has been pounding the ball with the big RB, so it makes since for the Warriors to try and make them do more of what they have done least...which is pass the ball. At least that's what I would expect. Both teams should put points on the board and this one could become a shoot out. It will be interesting to see how GP chooses to defend the CAK offense. Last week Kingston went into a 3-4 and stayed in it for most of the game, despite CAK's willingness to forego the pass and simply hand it off to the RB, who had 3-4 rushing TD's. CAK had prefer to throw the ball no doubt because that is what we like to do, unless of course you have a 3 man front and we can get 5+ yards a pop running between the tackles. This is certainly not one of CAK's stronger teams coming into the playoffs, but the Warriors style of football is capable of creating havoc for teams that aren't accustom to playing against them unless the opponent just has completely superior players across the board. I'll take CAK in the upset, no score prediction. Hope it is an exciting, clean contest. At least it will be "cleaner" than the last time we visited GP when it was still a natural grass field and the game turned into the "mud bowl", ha...
  10. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and we sure do appreciate you carrying our Cup CAKs for us. I do miss those days of cup cakes and corn dogs...ha. I'm not as connected as I was when my little minnie me was suiting up and playing on Friday nights so I don't have as much to say. But it has been tough to watch our guys struggle this year after such a good run. I think they are figuring things out a little bit here towards the end of the season and hopefully they can be get a win against a good GP team. I'm sure the coaches will have a winning game plan, now if the guys can just execute it and not shoot ourselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties! GO WARRIORS.
  11. It will take a miracle from Touch Down Jesus and I believe Notre Dame has already booked him for South Bend, so I don't expect my Warriors to win this game. However, I do want to see us play as tough and competitive as possible. It should be an eye opening experience for our freshman QB and some of the other newbies. Its been a humbling season but if the players will learn from this, like the teams before them did, then these loses can begin to lay the foundation of future success.
  12. Thanks for this classy post . Belfry was certainly the better team and deserved the victory, but I was happy with the fight that the Warriors put up despite being outmanned. I agree that the freshman QB has a bright future. I enjoyed a couple of very nice conversations with the Belfry fans and was impressed with the number of fans that made the 4 hour drive. We are looking forward to coming up to KY next year. I know what you mean about not being full strength but you were still able to win and showed you have a good team. Likewise, I wish you could have seen the teams we have put on the field the past several years. No disrespect to this years team, but we have been at a completely different level in years past, but now we are definitely in rebuilding mode. Regardless of all that, it was still an entertaining game. Good luck to your team the rest of the way, hope you win state!
  13. No disrespect, but seriously, from what I saw last night from Scott, until the Center/QB exchange gets better and the OL starts blocking better, it won't make any difference if the QB is allowed to change the play at the LOS or not. Hopefully that was just a bad night for the Highlanders and you can bounce back.
  14. Congrats to the Warriors!!! This was MUCH needed to help instill some confidence and breathe some life back into a team that was teetering on disaster. Also, a tip of the hat to our coaching staff for getting a wounded and beleagured team back on track against an opponent that was coming in with a lot of momentum. It was great to see everyone get some snaps tonight, that should help with motivation and practice in the coming weeks. I do feel for the Highlanders, I've been in that position before and it is deflating. Keep your heads up, you've still got a good season going.
  15. I'm pleasantly surprised at how CAK has performed in the first half. #23 has made an impact coming over from the D to play receiver. A few of our offensive series have looked very good and cohesive, then a few have been inconsistent a 3 & out. The D is playing scrappy and living in Scotts backfield. This is exactly what the Warriors needed. Hopefully they can stay focused in the 2nd half and dodge any more injuries.
  16. Looks like your a prophet...ha. And #12 has a bright future.
  17. Yes...still banged up. Broken bones and torn ligaments don't heal quickly. But most teams have to deal with that at some point or another. The effect is multiplied on CAK this year due to a severely depleted talent pool from graduation and very little depth to begin the season. Character building time for the Warriors. I expect this to be a hotly contested game. Good luck to both teams and I hope everyone has a safe trip.
  18. I'm happy to see Scott having some success and for the fans to be excited...you should be. Everyone faces adversity at some point in their lives, so I'm hopeful the CAK kids are learning something about life from this. I know all the coaches are working hard and challenging the players, but ultimately its up to the players on the field to dig down deep and find something to pull themselves out of this tailspin. I hope everyone has a safe trip down and that you are well treated.
  19. I haven't seen Scott play this year, but I've seen the scores of their games and I must agree that this is Scott's best opportunity ever to beat CAK. Scott is flying high and CAK is on a 3 game losing skid. I know the Warrior players and coaches certainly have NOT marked this up as a "W". Actually, they have no remaining games marked as "W's" this year. I really don't know what to expect from CAK this Friday night. At times they have looked OK and gave good effort, and at other times they have looked down right inept. I believe the coaches have challenged them this week in practice and we will see if they respond. But there is no doubt about it that the Warriors are way down from where they have been. Overall talent and playmakers are missing, but that doesn't mean that CAK is not capable of winning some games. In fact, they should have won a couple of the games they lost. I want the Warriors to win, but I'm more interested in seeing these young men come to terms with what it is going to take to be competitive and then go out on the field and give it their best effort. I certainly expect this to be a very exciting game with either team having a good shot at winning.
  20. Congrats to Webb for the lopsided victory. Not much I can say about the performance from CAK tonight. CAK's toughest opponent from this point forward is not whomever they play, but rather themselves. It's character building time. Kudos to our friend #26 M.Melton for the Spartans....he must have had close to 300 yards rushing and 4tds tonight. That boy has got some burners!
  21. I know the CAK players felt the same way. Most of those guys played ball together or against each other in rec league and middle school, and C.High attended both schools at one point or another. It would have made for some very good and competitive games, but like you said, it never worked out. Looking forward to seeing you as well. Hope your boy has a GREAT game, but CAK still squeaks out the victory ( I used the green smiley face in honor of all our Spartan friends, ha)
  22. No, Webb wasn't trying to avoid CAK, at least that is my understanding. While I certainly was not privy to the actual conversations leading to the decisions made several years ago about ending the rivalry, its my understanding that there was some conflict between the administration of the two schools regarding conduct between the two teams and schools along with the whole Division 1 & Division 2 debate. Take that for what its worth, which is not much, ha. I for one, have always thought that Webb & Catholic should be on our schedule, especially once scheduling started to become such an issue for CAK. Webb certainly has had the upper hand in this short football rivalry (CAK has only had a football team app. 12 years) and I expect that will continue in the short term. However, I do believe the Warriors have been more than capable of winning against Webb over the past few years. I'm not sure exactly why the schools have now been able to work out their differences and start scheduling each other again regularly in football, but it appears they have.
  23. Tough schedules should make a team more playoff ready, but in CAK's case this year, they may not make the playoffs. We were better suited for this schedule the past few years, but with injuries and graduation, it is going to be a struggle for the Warriors. Not impossible, but truly a struggle. Good luck to both teams this Friday
  24. I agree with what Govolsknox has already said about this years version of CAK. At this time we are merely a shell of what we have been. Ironically, CAK's upsurge began the year after the last meeting between these 2 schools (2008), and now they will resume playing the very year that CAK has taking several steps back. With all of the injuries and graduation I really think it is going to be tough for the Warriors to hang with the Spartans Friday night. One key factor could be if the injured MLB suits up and plays for Webb. He is a great run stopper and the run game has been uncharacteristically important for CAK so far this year. I'm afraid that the Warriors are just going to be too short handed against Webb and the better teams on their schedule. On the positive side, CAK's D is a scrappy bunch and have played well at times. They shut Catholic out and really didn't play too poorly most of the time against Powell, although they gave up a lot of points. The Warriors need for the Spartans to help them out with some turnovers and penalties and play mistake free themselves. Its true that CAK could very easily be 3-0 right now rather than 1-2, but the reality is a 2 game losing streak and key players out with injury or not performing as well as they could. Advantage Webb at this point, but I will be there Friday night to see how it unfolds.
