  1. In my opinion, Summertown usually has good baskerball and baseball teams because they can focus on and commit more time to those two sports since they didn't have a football program.
  2. Loretto is very young. I heard they only hsve 3 seniors. Also they are playing in Class 2A region 5 this season and they have a very tough schedule. Only one team on their schedule had a losing record last season and that is Rogers in Greenhill, AL. But they open with Summertown who is playing their inaugural season of football. That might be their only win this season unless their sophomore class grows up real quick. The sophomore class was district champs in jr high and they have been playing together for a few years now. Also Coach Lee Boyd is a student of Coach Butch Toner who despite having some great teams, never won a scrimmage or jamboree game in his entire career. He never wanted to show much in the preseason and tried to get experience for the non starters. I'm hoping the Mustangs will surprise us but I'm not getting my hopes up.
  3. Sorry, got my White Houses mixed up. LOL It was Houston County that WHite House Heritage beat, not Chester County. My bad.
  4. That is so true. Our coach always told us that football is 90 percent mental and 10 percent physical. Especially in High School football. You see in HS ball all the time, these smaller schools with a winning tradition beating much larger schools with bigger more athletic players. I remember when I was in school (82-86) there was a small 1 A team down in Alabama (Courtland) and they always had outstanding teams. Their entire graduating class was never more than about 25 people. Anyway, little single A Courtland would sometimes play a big 6A school and they would almost always win. There was another small school about 5 or 6 miles down the road from Courtland called Hazelwood, and they were a 2A team. Hazelwood also would put beatings on the much bigger schools. The thing to see was when these two schools would play each other (huge rivalry). Also every year each school would have anywhere from 2 to 4 players that would go on to play for either Alabama or Auburn (usually Alabama).
  5. Your forgetting that Adamsville beat a very good Loretto team that beat White House (by 14)who beat Chester County. Even though Loretto had to play that game without their two best players on offense (starting querterback and leading rusher) they still was in the game and could have had a chance to win if not for having 4 turnovers. Not taking anything away from Adamsville at all by saying that, because even if Loretto had their 2 top players in the game, it still would have been close a game that Adamsville probably would have won.
  6. I am neutral on this, but I will say that Adansville does have as many athletes as FCS. I've seen them both play and I think it will be a good game. I am not going to predict a winner, because emotion and momentum plays such a big part in these championship games.
  7. Yea, I was worried about Loretto giving up some turnovers with playing the backup qb, since they run alot of option and toss sweeps.
  8. I wonder if Klienke got hurt during practice this week? Man, that really sucks! I wish Loretto would have had the opportunity to play with their team intact. Loretto's qb (Rosson) was also a very good rusher. It is what it is I guess. Good luck to Adamsville. I hope yall take it all the way.
  9. I very much disagree that Klienke is all they have on offense. They have a different leading rusher almost every game. It really depends on who gets the most carries. They have 4 good backs and they all are fast. Losing Rosson (starting qb) will be tough. But I have heard the second string QB is no slouch. Rosson throws the ball much better. Thats were I think its going to hurt Loretto, (passing game) because Loretto can throw the ball pretty good. Its just that they usually dont have to do it very much. And they have good reciecers too. If Loretto goes in really on top of their game, then it will come down to who makes the least mistakes.
  10. This should be a good game. It will be tough for Loretto after losing their starting QB last game. That could end up being the difference in the game.
  11. The paper said Rosson broke his wrist. Was it his throwing hand (anyone know )? I ask because I know sometimes a player can play with a broken hand or wrist, depending on the severity. I myself played with a broken hand (playing for the Mustangs) and with it wrapped properly it was no problem. But I wasn't a QB or RB. Maybe he could still play defense.
  12. Yea, Columbia Academy started the season very strong. They romped over their first 2 opponents by a combined score of 81-14. They came in to Loretto very confident and playing well. Also you have to take in account Loretto is a much better team now than they were then. They have gotten better each week and the offensive line and running backs seem to have really come into their own. And if I remember correctly, I believe Columbia Ac. came into that game ranked 7th in 1A (someone correct me if I'm wrong about that). Bottom line is Loretto is a very good football team and will be hard to beat. With that said though, it seems that emotion plays a huge part in the playoffs. If one team comes in a little flat, than they usually get beat, no matter how good they are. Oh yea, I'm picking Loretto in this one. 28-14.
  13. I cant figure out this East Hickman team. They start the season by beating a very good Loretto team and a couple of games later they lose big to a team that the same Loretto team destroyed a week before. Then later E H plays really good about every other game or so. Then they make the playoffs and beat an undefeated South Gibson team. East Hickman obviously has some really good players that can play ball when they go out and give it their all. I hope they can keep it going.
  14. The playoffs is a whole new season, and I have seen some shocking upsets over the years. I've seen teams get in the playoffs with 4-6 records beat teams that came in at 10-0. If any team comes in over confident they will be ripe for an upset.
