  1. Offensive Coordinator?????? You mean it's not a head coaching position? and he's still getting that much more money?
  2. Is it true that Coach Derrick has accepted a job in Georgia? From what I hear there's a lot of money on the table for him if he goes, including a job for his wife. It seems that the school board has a new rule that prevents them from hiring both husbands and wives to both work in the county system. Although there are already many married couples currently working throughout the McMinn system. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  3. Just a thought from the outside looking in: But I think a "good" coach would have already taken care of that. I hope it was his coach that sent it in. Kid looks tough, Good luck to him.
  4. My guess would be that the coaches were concentrating on trying to win a close game. Shouldn't have to worry about what's going on on the sidelines. I'm not a coach, but I would bet one of the last concerns on a coach's mind would be one of his players behind him might go up into the stands to start a fight.
  5. If Dekalb pulls away, it will be early in the game. You won't see a 4th quarter fade from the Chargers like you would have seen a few years ago. They are much better conditioned now.
  6. I think Region 3 would have come out better if Central had beat Howard. I believe Central would handle Sycamore because they are a running team. I don't think anyone has been able to do much on the ground this year against the Central D. Dekalb County will be a much tougher assignment for the Charger D, The Central secondary is susceptible to the passing game of Dekalb. I think Howard would match up better against Dekalb, and Central would match up better against Sycamore.
  7. I was actually agreeing with you. There is nothing in the article referring to lack of class on either side.
  8. Here's what was said in The Times Free Press article: POLK COUNTY ( 7-1, 5-1) at McMINN CENTRAL CHARGERS (8-0, 6-0) The kickoff: 7:30 Coaches, career numbers: Polk??™s Derrick Davis (64-33); Central??™s Brandon Derrick (20-9) Interesting stat: Central knocked off Polk 42-41 last year, the Chargers??™ first win over the Wildcats since 1999. Both clubs will be in the postseason but a first-round host??™s role could be up for grabs. Central has to play at Howard next week and the region title could be on the line. Howard beat Polk by two earlier this year. What to watch: Extracurricular play. These two teams don??™t like each other. One is flashy, bordering on gaudy with its offense while the other is more of a journeyman club that plugs away. Central will likely have to pass ??” and quarterback Zach Rayl is capable ??” if it is to move the ball consistently. Two of the area??™s top defensive players ??” Polk lineman Michael Hargove and Central linebacker Maury Ragland ??” will be on display. I think some people don't understand the big words like extracurricular and gaudy.
  9. How did Central kick off both halves???? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  10. There is alot of truth to what you are hearing Meigs is in deep trouble. I like Coach Eller and he has been dealt a terrible hand at Meigs but he is going to have to take control and lead them out of this crisis and it starts with his assistant coaches or lack there of. We have had several good players quit and we have several Kids walking the hall ways that could help this team. When i say bad hand i do not mean in player tallent even though it is down some at Meigs this year they still have enough tallent and heart to compete if they had the kids out that have quit or chose not to play or have transferred due to the coaching issues. Pretty much what I've heard. I have no doubt Coach Eller will get the train back on the tracks, If he survives the next couple of years. I hope he is given the tools he needs to get the job done. I listened to the game on the radio tonight. I can't believe how the radio announcers were whining about East Ridge running up the score. They kept saying they couldn't believe Coach Martin would run up the score on Meigs. HE DIDN'T.. East Ridge did score near the end of the game on a punt return. What was the East Ridge return man supposed to do, Run 20 yards and lay down?? Come on people,, Meigs is down this year. The reason for them losing can't always be that the other team is a bunch of jerks.
  11. You talk about other people bad mouthing Meigs??? When you are the only one I see on here saying the kids don't have the nads to play the game. They seemed to have them all the years before this year. I have never heard anybody say that the young men in Decatur were not man enough to play the game. In fact, just the opposite. Anybody will tell you that in years past when you play Meigs County you better bring your A-Game, Because they will hit you in the mouth and do it again if you didn't like it the first time. 25-2 Maybe 6-4 this year Tellico next week???
  12. Does anybody know what's going on within the Meigs Football program? I understand all programs have their up and down times. But I live near Decatur and follow high school football. Seems like every time I'm in town I hear a new rumor about what is wrong with the football team. Most of them seem to point to the coaches. I know the Head Coach has been there before and was successful. Heard that one asst. coach tried to quit this week when he got caught by a parent "yelling" at a player in the parking lot. Also that there is turmoil between coaches. They can't agree on play calling. and so on. Heard that some former players and athletes from other sports wanted to come out and play last week, to try and help revive the football program. But were turned away because they haven't done their time on the practice field. Normally I would agree with the fact they need to "do their time on the practice field" but with things going like they are currently, It might be a good idea to accept any help you can get. I'm not talking about any one player that has transferred or quit. I'm talking about a large group of players that have decided not to play football at Meigs. There has to be some truth to what I'm hearing. Tell me what your thoughts are..
  13. Has anyone gotten an update on Rayl yet? I hope it wasn't too serious. Hate to see any kid leave with an injury and not come back. Rayl was back in the game for the final couple of plays. Looked to be moving ok. Handing ball off to Jackson.
  14. Everybody is going with Central players. But don't leave out Tommy Bunch from Meigs. I know there are several deserving Chargers. But Mr. Bunch could be the one to draw the attention.
