  1. If the Celtics had that much pull at MBA don't you think he'd be playing? Why would they want him to sit??
  2. I have seen MBA play this year and a little about the situation. From what I saw it is hard to justify sitting any of their freshman. Not only David Howard; Aaron Simonis and Austin Blackwell should have gotten major minutes. They run an offense is very difficult to grasp. With numberous picks and screens, it could be difficult to learn. But with their talent, it is hard to defend these guys not getting more minutes than others on that team. Holden Mobley, David Howard, Austin Blackwell, Aaron Simonis and whoever else they throw out there would be a pretty decent team in that league. Next year they add Elliot Watts to the mix. Hopefully they'll find a way to feature this talent. That looks like a good five to me.
  3. Heard Hutson is good but the Celtics have a stacked 2012 team.
  4. Riley Stoner has quit the team at Ravenwood from what I understand. David Howard is at MBA but plays JV and isn't in the rotation on varsity (coaches decision). I don't know why except to say that maybe he doesn't know the offense. Maybe somebody from MBA can weight in on that. He probably should have finished this season at Independence and picked up a couple of offers then transferred. He was certainly on pace to do that at Indy. Both schools are somehow winning without him. As far as Tiddwell, I'm wondering that myself.
  5. I've never heard of anyone transferring to MBA mid-year athlete or not. You gotta "want it" to go to MBA period. The parents must be pretty smart when it comes to the older kid (Trey). To get a diploma from MBA is special. It can carry you for life. So if they were recruited... sounds to me like they should have already been there. You have to be pretty bright to gasp their program midstream.
  6. Independence frosh 6'7" David Howard and his bro 6'3" Trey (JR) transferred to MBA today. Does anyone know how the TSSAA will rule on them playing this year? I believe the whole family moved to Nashville from Franklin. With Mobley, Blackwell, Watts and the Howards next year.... They'll be really big and score a bunch.
  7. I like Dyer Co. and Nashville Celtic.... Slick Fred Yarbrough.
  8. UK isn't recruiting Z. Mason.... They were at the Warren Central game for Jordan Shanklin and George Fant of Central. They are top rated Soph's in Ky.
  9. Heard the post Cedric and starting PG Janeal McDonald have left team and transferred to siegel.. If that is true they will be followed by great frosh Vari Craig next year due to rezoning... That's the word on the street..... True? Anybody....?
  10. Gomerpyle, you chose to bring Casey in this thread by saying he and Jalen are on the same level. So.... Bama, Ga, Ga Tech, Minn, Ole Miss, Vandy, Wake, SIU and word has it North Carolina by weeks end will offer. Kentucky is said to come baring an offer too very soon. That's Caseys' "notable" offers to date. Jalen?
  11. Fair enough. Who has offered Jalen?
  12. North Carolina is now recruiting Prather. Check out Jerry Meyer's latest article about Casey on Rivals. The bottom line is Casey is being heavily recruited and Jalen isn't. That is a fact. Not to bash Jalen but stating facts. If I'm missing something here let me know. Who is recruiting Jalen Steele right now? How many offers does he have? Not interest.. Offers? Also, the only reason I brought up Wade, Johnson and Howard was to attempt to move thread in a different direction. But if you want to go on, ok.
  13. No offense, but Jalen is not considered on the same level as Joe Jackson and Casey Prather. They are top 150 players sought after by many national programs. He and Hammonds are about the same. Jalen has got two years to get up there but to put in the same boat as far as recruiting goes right now is way off. Don't just check recruiting sites, go to the schools message boards and you'll see that there's not much going with him. Even at Dayton where he visited. Give him some time... And let's start a new thread.... How bout Robert Wade, Kedren Johnson, David Howard or anybody else.
  14. Jalen is a great player and arguably the best pure shooter in the state. However, if you look at some recruiting sites UT has slot of offers out there for 2010 class and Jalen is not one of them. I personally believe there is not much difference between Peete, Mayo, Lyles and Steele at the #2. They'll all play D1 ball in 2010. And I believe as of right now Steele has no offers according to recruiting websites. If he kills again on summer circuit... He'll land in a place that fits his Step Curry-like play.
  15. how is Hillsboro moving the ball downfield so fast? Passing? Running? Who's doing the damage?
  16. Good post.. Blihovde is a great receiver and may be the best in middle TN I've seen.. Doesn't seem like Greg looks for him as much since Jordan came back.. Blihovde made the catch of the year against Franklin.. Hope they use him more Friday
  17. why is this game at Hillsboro? I thought the team with the best record usually host the game? Or is this one of the TSSAA weird rules too? I'm glad that Hillsboro is at home just missed the reason why.
  18. OK... somebody told me he played tennis at Vandy. So he learned the defense straight from Randy Shannon. Cool, makes sense.
  19. Miami looks like they are in a basic cover 2 for 95% of thier games. But they are hiding stunts and coverages that is dependent on the look the offense gives. Its pretty hard to do but MBA is running it pretty good. I was very impressed at the coaching job they do.
  20. I went to the MBA-Hillsboro game last friday and came away with two things. First of all, #6 Blihovde(sorry bout spelling if wrong) is an excellent reciever. If the Hillsboro QB would have hit him everytime he was open, that game would have been an easy win for Hillsboro. He caught everything throw at him. The MBA secondary is not good in coverage but they (#29) can hit. #29 hit Eric Gordan so hard once, I was shocked he got up. Secondly, the MBA coach can flat out coach. He was able to hide his weaknesses (LB play, coverage on slot recievers) and attack Hillsboro's weaknesses (special teams and ball security). And if you pay attention, they (MBA) were coached to a win. I have never seen a H.S. team play a Miami style cover 2 and work so many things off of it as MBA did. The Hillsboro coach called a good game too. Probably should have told QB to delivery ball to other guys that were open all night. And probably did. Great H.S. game... hope series continues.
  21. ... I DON'T KNOW WHO "SOUTHEAST" IS; BUT HE IS RIGHT... THE NASHVILLE CELTICS 14U'S ARE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE STATE. THEY ARE COACHED BY AUSTIN BLACKWELL'S DAD WHO COMES FROM THE GEORGIA STARS PROGRAM (WHEN THEY WERE TOPS IN GEORGIA). "SOUTHEAST" CLAIMS WILL FALL ON DEAF EARS BECAUSE NOT MANY PEOPLE IN THE STATE HAVE SEEN THEM PLAY. LET'S ALSO GET SOMETHING ELSE STRAIGHT.. THE ONLY TEAM ON THE ABOVE LIST THAT THEY BEAT ARE THE NASHVILLE NUGGETS. I DON'T KNOW WHY "SOUTHEAST" CHOSE TO SAY THEY BEAT OTHERS IS BEYOND ME. I AM POSITIVE HAD THEY PLAYED ANY TEAMS OUTSIDE OF MEMPHIS, THEY WOULD HANDLE THEM. EARLY IN THE SEASON THEY DID PLAY A TEAM THAT HAD SOME 16U PLAYERS AND BEAT THEM BY MORE THEN 25PTS. WHAT "SOUTHEAST" FAILED TO SAY IS THAT THE 14U CELTICS PRACTICE MORE THAN ANY TRAVEL TEAM I'VE EVERY SEEN. THEY PRACTICE NEARLY FOUR TO FIVE TIMES A WEEK. COACH BLACKWELL OWNS THE TENNESSEE ADIDAS PHENOM CAMP AND IS ONE OF THE HEAD GUYS AT THE ADIDAS 150 IN SAN DIEGO EVERY YEAR. I SAW THE FIRST PRACTICE/TRYOUT THEY HAD AND MOST THOSE GUYS WERE AT BEST AVERAGE. HE SKILLS AND DRILLS THOSE GUYS TO DEATH. THEY ARE GOOD BECAUSE THEY PRACTICE HARD... NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER. I THINK THEY WOULD BE 50/50 IN MEMPHIS CITY BECAUSE THEY MORE SKILLED THEN ATHLETIC. I WISH THEY HAD PLAYED MORE LOCAL EVENTS SO PEOPLE COULD SEE THE VALUE OF PRACTICE AND TRAINING. COACH BLACKWELL SAYS NEXT YEARS 15U TEAM WILL HAVE A MORE ATHLETES AND WILL SPEND ALOT OF TIME IN MEMPHIS AND ATLANTA. AND AUSTIN BLACKWELL IS THE TRUTH... IF YOU DON'T KNOW, YOU BETTER ASK SOMEBODY. HE'LL PLAY AT MBA THIS YEAR. AS WILL ELIOT WATTS, WHO HAS BECOME A BEAST AT 6'8"-6'9" IN THE PAINT FOR THE 14U CELTS. ETHAN WALKER IS GETTING BETTER, IF HE SHOT MORE HE BE GREAT. THE WHOLE TEAM IS GOOD AND GETTING BETTER. THERE IS THE REAL DEAL...
