  1. Everyone, I can see taking top 3 averages from district or region, this change would bring number of qualifiers to 108. Then you could have the regionals or sectionals in three locations as mentioned earlier, with 14 spots added to the state field (7 boy & 7 girl) per sectional. This would bring us to using 50 of 52 lanes. The system is not flawed, it was just all they had to make it work for everyone around the state at conception of the single's side. I believe we see it could need a overhaul now. The point of State championship tournament is to bring best bowlers from state together to bowl for state title, if we are leaving out some of our best, it could be time to change the format. If the change is going to be made we need to get formal paperwork to tssaa to even see if it would be considered, I think it would be something a majority of schools would have to be behind to get it changed. Even with this change there would be no change to what tssaa has to do, to prepare for state.
  2. Great Idea coach! I would totally stand behind this, however tssaa is going to bring up time constraints! Unless we decided to have districts completed before the Christmas break, which could allow for the extra time to have the singles sectional. I really like the idea of the kids bowling to get out of the their regions to make it to state singles. I believe this would give you stronger state tournament fields, then the state individuals could be contested solely on sport patterns. Mike, I only would see tssaa and alot of coaches conflicted on the time to get this in before state.
  3. Pride, No where in my post did I say Keith put anybody down, I solely pointed out he thought his team was team to beat, whether Tom took it out of context or not. I will guarantee Keith will have his team ready to bowl injuries or not. Plus, I have nothing but respect for the Hendersonville program and job Keith has done there. Yeah we did not fill girls team this year, as in all previous years with Hixson, it was struggle to get kids to come try out. The year the girls won State tournament, we started with only 3 girls. I wish Hendersonville's girls and boys best of luck along with all other teams that have moved to next levels of the season.
  4. after brief conversation with Coach Ransom on phone last night Girls: Columbia Central pulls off win over Lawrence County in Finals Boys: Lawrence County rallied from 109 down after first game to take district 8 from Columbia Central, Mike had said District 8 on both sides would be tight Congrats to Aaron "Big Money" Davidson for nice 289 in first game of finals yesterday
  5. Congratulations Soddy Daisy for both girls and boys district titles, also congrats to CCS girls for their runner up in District. Although reading this post would point out that sequatchie17 is really not from Sequatchie at all. Looking at all the post from sequatchie17, it would give you the feeling this person could be from Soddy. "Maybe"
  6. i would think jan 12 is district 8 district tourn and 21 would be region 4 tourney at Smyrna
  7. I don't see everybody talking about Soddy, its a player and a competitor talking about Soddy's season and them talking about their players. I would rather see that than the trash talking in years past. I think you could see Smyrna and Siegel at State. They have tough road ahead of them . District 8 teams will not be pushovers, I have heard Lawrence County is not bad, and do not count out Ransom's group from Columbia Central. I really do not know about rest of the teams out of 8. Plus, I believe region 4 tournament is in Columbia Jan. 12 according to TSSAA website. Then one of the teams that come out of Region 4 could face Soddy Daisy in Sub State. Then that brings me to mention that the State title over last 4 years has come through the Region 3-4 substate matches. Smyrna(05-06 Champs), Hixson (06runner-up-07Champ), Columbia Central(08 Champs) Then you can not count out the other teams from Middle TN and West TN. Hardin County, Hendersonville, and White Station. Then you have your good teams that could get hot and ride that wave in upset wins to State title. You have point about Smyrna being team to beat, they have had impressive numbers, and I have nothing but respect for the kids and coaches of Smyrna's program.

    Soddy Daisy

It was in Cleveland Ga. , December 14, it was part of Georgia Bowlers Tour
  9. My assesment on White Station is based off talking to coaches White Staion have faced. The girls were young last year and with age hopefully Caitlin has been able to instill a little more discipline and confidence in them, they have two wins this season over Hendersonville, which in post season means nothing. The guys should have a little motivation after the quaterfinal loss to Page last year. You could be correct they might not have enough to go deep into the field, but are still in top tier of teams in State. Looking back at State scores last year, scores were down if that trend continues the best spare shooting teams will be at the top. I would expect State trophy to stay in Middle tn, and Girls Trophy could be up for grabs, Hardin, Hendersonville and White Station all have the capabilities to take trophy home. You have to be really careful on girls side that a team comes in hot and makes alot of spares. USBC 1 I totally get where you are coming from, nice talking bowling with you
  10. On the guys side: Smyrna is definitely one of the front runners, you can not count out Hardin County( improving), White Station( looking for a little redemption from last year), Soddy Daisy ( young team), Lawrence County ( heard they were solid), and there will always be a suprise team On the Girls side: Hardin County(SOLID), White Station, Hendersonville, Walker Valley(not to shabby). Look for a suprise team on girls side also. I believe all the front runners control own destiny at this point, they all know who they will have to bring there A games against to make it to the next levels over the next 30 days
  11. Well, according to Coach Freeman's interview in the Tennessean all the girls teams in Tennessee are playing for second behind his Hendersonville Girls team

    Soddy Daisy

I would like to congratulate Soddy on hard fought victory on Thursday against a scrappy Hixson team.
  13. There is no real equation to how they pick Mr. And Mrs. Bowling, coaches send info to the committee and the group of people decide on who are the picks. It includes your bowling skills, community service, work ethic, and grades. The winners last year I thought were right on!
  14. That is great set put in by the Guys from Smyrna, They are excellent team and should be considered frontrunner to be at state this year
