Thanks, we started her when she was 3! LOL....Amen on the first part...some have no clue how to dribble, shoot or box out. We sure don't want her to learn bad habits and that is why I think it is best to find the best camps and clinics around.!!

My husband went to the Lispscomb camp when he was in middle school and really enjoyed it. I hope that when she gets older we will be able to send her and brother...My daughter plays softball to but given the choice of basektball or softball..she always picks up the big round ball...She is as committed as any 8 year old can be at this time but we look for this to be "her" sport. We live in the Hamilton, Marion, Sequatice and Grundy area so some of the better camps are hard to get to. You are right...Fundamentals is what has to be taught, its the training wheels of riding a bike, IMO. My husband is an assistant and these kids in high school do not know the funamentals and without those you will never get anywhere. Keep me posted on if you hear of anything...Thanks for you help. Not sure if I can post this here..if I am in the wrong area please feel free to move. I am looking for individual summer camps for my 8 year old daughter. I have searched the web but came up empty. It can be co-ed. We have several parents of younger children that are interested. If you know of any please let me know.

We are in the Chattanooga area and my daughter is interested in playing some basketball this summer. Does the area have an 8 & u team or do they even start them that early?

Not trying to come across as a smart butt I never heard of going into a tournament and being able to tell the host when you could and could not play a game. From past experiances you play when your bracket comes up..if not then you forefit that game. Someone correct me if I am wrong. And I see the point about playing on Sunday but I think if you start after church and end before evening services then it is ok. Maybe if you are traveling attend one of our local churches or maybe have one of the local churches hold a service at the ballfield for those that would like to attend.....it can been done.

How did the Warriors do this evening. When I left the complex it was 6-6 in the 8th....details please on how it turned so close.....we don't like those close games boys!

We have lost 2 games and won One. We beat Washington County on Sunday and play our final game on Monday at 2 at this time I do not know who we play. We have had a good time..seen lots of decent teams and realized that Dade County isn't the place with bad refs..lol Purplegrad will update later with better detail..lol

Nope..wouldn't have it..I'll just keep being one of our many wannabe coaches that sit in the stands..they can handle it just fine without me..lol

sooo what exactly is the job of an assistant then?? Well this year at MC it is to assist the head coach and do what he ask of them. If he ask them to take care of subbing then that is what they will do. I am not a basketball expert by no means and I don't try to act like I am either but if we HAD lost I think that the players and coaches should come down on the bench for not playing the game like they should.. time for the younger ones to learn some responsibilty..we give you a 10-15 pt lead (could have been a 30pt lead if we had boxed out)now go in and show us what you can do if you screw up and loose it after we worked hard then we come down on you! Its the price you pay. BUT we didn't loose.. Yes my husband is an assistant and I ask after every game why they did certain things...and he has his reasons. The assistants this year know the game of basketball and don't plan on sitting there just to take up space.

Thank you OW for not beating down on us for Subbing..The bench is gonna have to step up and start playing cause you never know when they are gonna be needed! it ended to close but it was still a win..

Marion 62 ER 57 (may be off a point or two) Marion won by 3 or 4 but led by as much as 10-15 pts. at one time late in the 4th. We cleared the bench with less than 2 minutes in the game and gave everyone a chance to play that is when ER came back and put a scare in some of the fans and players as well. PandP and Hoop...I asked why Coach Keef cleared them out and the game was close. I was told that Coach Keef handed that subsitutions job over to his assistants to handle. From what I was told the boys are aware of this and if anyone has any questions just ask one of the assistant coaches....That's all I know, I try not to ask alot of questions about why certain things are done. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Anyway..good game by everyone but we gotta do better on the Defense guys. Marion 4-0 in the district...that is nice!!
