  1. Not a real drastic change for South Greene, we still have 3 opponents from the current region, we normally played Grainger as out of conference, so we add Greeneville and Claiborne. I feel like we should compete with Claiborne, though it may take some time before we can realistically compete with Greeneville. It just stinks that we will still have Alcoa to go through in the playoffs. We were a handful of students (which we are going to lose due to Greeneville annexing a portion of the county next year) away from dropping down to "A", that would have been interesting to see how much success we could have had. Hopefully, this new alignment will allow us (or should I say force us) to become more competitive. SGDAD
  2. When looking at the upper east TN map for AA, it makes sense that this is the way it would shape up.
  3. I agree with most of the posts above, if the passing game is effective, and the defense softens enough to allow us to run from the spread, then we will compete. If we can't get the passing game going then we will be in trouble (just like the HV game). Rainy games have not been good for us either, our offense just simply does not do well with wet conditions. I hope that we change our offense up tonight to compensate for the bad weather and to give Loudon a look we haven't run before. Unfortunately, I doubt this will happen. Good luck REBS. SGDAD
  4. Believe it or not, I put most of these points on the offense. Our time of possession was just under 8 minutes. Our QB threw 5 picks and a fumble. The fumble came in the first half with us down 13. Our D had just stopped HV on 4th and goal. We get the ball on the 2 yard line and on the first play from scrimmage, we fumble the snap, HV recovers on the 1. The ints were usually followed by good returns and on three of the possessions, HV started their offensive drives inside our 30, once again putting the D in a bad position. Early, our D did struggle a bit stopping the inside run, but eventually improved, but the turnovers were entirely to much to overcome. SGDAD
  5. First, in response to all the officiating talk above. I agree with all that there were some major errors by the official crew, but I don't think it affected the outcome. On the interference call on GP, they came together, conferred and then made the call, moved the chains and signalled first down. Then Coach Hammonds called timeout and argued it. The refs listened, told him too bad, started the play clock. The white hat then blew the whistle, conferred with his crew again, then waived off the penalty. They took 5 minutes to figure out where the original line of scrimmage and first down markers were. It was bizarre and cost the refs their credibility with both teams. BUT, even though I'm a SG fan, they got the call right, it should not have been pass interference in the first place. Even more incredible to me, was on SG's last drive going for the win, SG was 4th and 32 and picked up about 25 yards on pass across the middle, to my bewilderment I look up and they signalled first down and 10. GP was screaming at the refs, but were ignored and SG snaps the ball and runs a play, incomplete pass. With enough time for one final play, SG threw the ball into the end zone and nearly scored, if we had it would have been an undeserved win. In my opinion, other than those two episodes the officiating was pretty fair to both sides, maybe even tilted more in SG's favor. Second, concerning WG's chances this Friday. As a Greene County fan, I hope WG can win, but I don't think they will. I think GP's defense will be too much for WG and I don't think WG has the defense to stop Pittser and company. I hope WG proves me wrong. Good luck Buffs. SGDAD
  6. This is a must win for both teams. The loser's chances of making the playoffs will dramatically decrease. With that said, just like last week's battle between SG and GP, I think it will be a close game. I hope SG comes out on top, but I know it will be a hard fought game. SG's offense after a hot start in the first 4 games of the season has struggled a little. The defense and special teams continue to keep games close and gives opportunity to the offense to win. If our offense can come out and play strong, I think SG can win by 2 TD's, if not then I hope our defense can compensate. Any other thoughts? SGDAD
  7. This topic title was correct, well worth the 6 bucks. GP wins in 2 OT by an extra point 35 -34. Well played by both sides. Congrats to GP and SG both. Both teams left it all on the field. More analysis tomorrow, too tired tonight. SGDAD
  8. As far as the CD vs. SG game last Friday, I hope CD fans don't give themselves false hope from that game. Other than our poor performance against Crockett, the CD game was our worst offensive showing this year. I agree CD was fired up, SG was not. I think SG was sluggish and looking past CD to GP. I think they learned a lesson about not assuming things. I think CD played their hearts out and possibly played their best game of the year against one of SG's worst games of the year and SG still came out on top by 5 (and if the SG coaching staff doesn't call the idiotic time out with 29 seconds left, probably would've been by 12). WG by 10. SGDAD
  9. I agree with lastyear21, SG did not play well against CD. I don't think they were looking past CD, but most of the kids (not all) were just not very intense for the game. I don't think they will have the same issue this Friday. I also agree that SG must not turn the ball over. I think our defense has the ability to limit GP to 2 or 3 TD's and our offense can cover that, but if we have turnovers, especially gifts deep in GP territory, I don't have as much confidence. SG must come out and play an error free game on offense and commit to stopping the running game on defense. If they can do this, I think SG wins by a TD. SGDAD
  10. Last year was a heartbreaker for SG. Our defense really rose to the occasion and played their best defensive game of the year. Unfortunately, the offense was not as effective as this year's and had trouble putting points up. Two crucial fumbles in that game gave GP the ball deep in their own territory and didn't leave our D with much room for error. As I said earlier, if our O plays to their potential and doesn't turn the ball over, I like our chances. SGDAD
  11. CD played very good, and had a good game plan going into the game. SG didn't look as good as they have in previous games. They got they win, but just didn't play as good as they have. Don't take anything away from CD though, they played their hearts out. I think if SG's defense can step up, and their offense play to it's full potential they'll pull this one out. However, if they don't come into this one clicking on all cylinders GP will come away with the win. SGDAD
  12. I know I can't wait for this game. Should be a hard hitting contest from the start. I don't know much about GP, I just hope SG comes out more focused in this one than they were against CD. SGDAD
  13. My opinion on this game is that it could go either way. GP is good this year just like every other year. SG is coming off two rough games where they played badly against Crockett and CD. I believe from watching the game SG overlooked CD a little bit and almost paid for it. I don't think they'll come with the same attitude going into next weeks game. However, if they do it'll get ugly. The Rebs better be focused for this one, because GP is a very tough team. I don't know much about GP except their running back Pittser and QB Ogle are very good, and their defense is very tough. I'm really looking forward to this one, and hope SG can come away with a great conference win. Last years game was very good, I expect another tough game. Thoughts from GP fans would be greatly appreciated. SGDAD
  14. Hopefully this will be a good one. What are everyone's thoughts. SGDAD
