  1. This will be a new start for the Mountaineers. New coaches, new uniforms, all new attitude and a new opening opponent. Should make for interesting start to a great football season. I don't know much about Karns football, so could someone feel me in? GO MOUNTAINEERS....
  2. The scrimmage went pretty well, made it through with out any injuries. It was fun to see some live action and I know the boys enjoyed it. Saw some promising things from some young kids. The QB looked good and the defense played well. Jefferson Co. is next Friday at Heritage, should be a good test.
  3. 4 pm. At Alcoa. Just talked to a good source.
  4. ML ... which cross town rival are you referring to? Maryville or WB? Come on Govman.......you know I was talking about Greenback. Thats not even funny. But Greenback is down a bit this year aint they?
  5. Easy now MLREB, we can't afford to lose anymore kids to your program. We would really like to keep the ones we have. How is Patton shaping up at QB? I have heard very little about him. I do hope your right about the whipping (x2) cross town.... Thanks for the support..[/b] Just curious....how is Patton a Heritage boy? He has resided in the city of Maryville most if not all of his life. I really wasn't refering to him has a Heritage boy. I've known his family along time and new he would be attending Maryville. My son has played football and basketball with him in the past and I was just wondering how he was coming along. I think he is a good athlete and thought he might get some snaps this year?
  6. To the smartest---holealive, The Bear has come out of hibernation! I have not posted for several years on here, but your negative comments about my mountaineers is just uncalled for! The new coaching staff has been working their tails off to get this team ready for the start of the season. The staff, players, and parents are very excited and positive about what Coach Russell has started in his short time on the mountain! The whole Mountaineer Team needs to get behind Coach Russell and his staff. Negative comments on this board should not be allowed! Every parent I have talked to is very upbeat about the season. He has changed the offense and defense, usually this happens when a new coach takes over. I was there at midnight madness and they threw the ball all over the field. It was very exciting for the fans and players. I think Coach Russell has a few running plays, but only a few! The defense is probably one of the quickest I have seen at heritage in a while. His conditioning program for the players has been great. I will promise you this team will win its share of games this year. Good luck mountaineers! I'm glad somebody else got on here to help me out, there for awhile I thought I was the only Mountaineer fan on here. Everything you have said is very true. The coaching staff is great and the kids are working harder than I have seen in a long time at HHS. I have been at every practice from spring til now and you would not believe the progress they have made. I just hope it all carries over to the game field on Friday nights and results in several wins? GO MOUNTAINEERS...........
  7. Scoot....thank you for identifying the Heritage kids that we need to recruit. Stars will be on this soon with the free garbage services and lunch with Ms Stars. We already know about Clayton since he came through the Maryville system. Great kid and family. Good luck to Heritage this year. I think they put a whipping on their cross town rivals this year. Easy now MLREB, we can't afford to lose anymore kids to your program. We would really like to keep the ones we have. How is Patton shaping up at QB? I have heard very little about him. I do hope your right about the whipping (x2) cross town.... Thanks for the support..
  8. I have seen the uniforms. Very nice but not a lot of blue. Coach Russell is not real fond of the blue, so the new uniforms have more red to them than anything. I will say, they will look sharp....
  9. Thanks Govman. You probably right, he's not a coach but he obviously has a chip on his shoulder about HHS for some reason?
  10. I am not familiar with all the players you mentioned but I am with a few, Chase Cline is good kid but would only add depth in the secondary at Alcoa or Maryville. And wow Chris Ropp “can make plays at any time”, he’s nice to be around and a funny guy but if he has to make plays for the mountaineers I cannot foresee many plays being made. Clayton shell, if memory serves me correct, was he not the undersized back that took most of the carries for heritage last year if he is who I am thinking of he could never start for either of the good teams in the county. I am sure the players at heritage will try hard but they simply do not have enough talent to be even mediocre, the outlook for heritage is the same as it has been the past several years, dismal. Looking at the schedule they should beat Lenoir City and they may be able to play with Karns and South Doyle but after Sep. 11 they have no chance of winning. I predict 1-9 for the pusillanimous perpetual losers. Clayton Shell never carried the ball for Heritage. He has played free safety and wideout. He could start at any of the schools. I have watched Ropp make some nice catches in the 7 on 7 games and has become a pretty good receiver. I think Chase Cline could play at either school also. He has good speed and can play on both sides of the ball. I hope they prove you wrong and win several game this year. I'm not real sure what your problem with Heritage is but the negitive comments you have and spew needs to be taken elsewhere. If I was guessing as to who you may be, I would say that you were a (coach or player) at one time and got your feelings hurt in some form or fashion. So if you don't mind, we would like to have positve talk and good information on this thread. Thank you.
  11. I don't recall saying that Hartly would be the savior of Heritage football either. I just stated that he is a good athlete and will help the program. I really don't care where he falls in the line of QB's in the county, I am only concerned about what he brings to the Heritage team. Cermak will be on defense and will do an outstanding job as usual. He will probably get state recongnition for his play at linebacker. HHS has several skill people on offense that are young tallent and are in the mix of things. Jordan Carroll is a big back with good speed and hands. Upcoming sophmore Chase Cline will see ample amount of carries. Sophmores Justin Newman & Chase Everett have made strides at wideout. Then you have Clayton Shell(Two year all Count and District) and Chris Ropp that can make plays at anytime. On the defensive side of the ball Cody England, Evan Crockett, Andy Eldridge, & Mihn Tran could play or start for any school in the county, I have no doubts about that.
  12. This has been the case the last few years scoot91 but I do believe that this Alcoa team will have alot more depth compared to our previous teams. This game has been more mental for Alcoa than anything. Having said that I will take Alcoa + 10 to the bank. I hope your right, I pull for Alcoa in that game every year.
  13. We have a couple. This Friday we have Sequoia at Heritage and then next Friday 7/7/09 we go to Jefferson Co. We have done a lot of 7 on 7 work the past few weeks with a varity of teams. Im looking forward to some real action, the 7 on 7 gets old fast. The lil old lady said hello and hoped you were doing well. GO MOUNTAINEERS
  14. I think Maryville will be to deep once again for Alcoa. Every year they hang around but get man handled in the 4th qtr. I hate to say it but, "Maryville by 10".
  15. Sounds to me you might be married to my wife as well, tpoole12.. How are things over your way? I read the article in the paper today and the new coach didn't sound to pleased? Have you seen the T-shirts at Wal Mart has out already? "Back Yard Brawl" Heritage -vs- William Blount. It has two helmets crashing together, there pretty cool.
  16. As for the explanation on the transfer, I believe you are correct, but you opinion on Hartly is way off base. He might not be one of the best QB's in the county but he is a good athlete! He is learning the new system very well and has a pretty good arm. He will be a big help to the Mountaineers this year and next.
  17. Things are headed in the right direction. They have some good athletes on both sides of the ball, they will be in great shape, and the coaching staff is putting in a lot of time with these kids. 7 on 7 practices have gone real well, workouts have been very good, and the attitude of the kids is awsome..... My opinon, things are looking up.... GO MOUNTAINEERS....
  18. I saw a lot of the games on the lower fields and thought Lenoir City, Heritage, Grace Christian, and Fulton looked really good. The Gace team had some size but were lazy in there routs. Fulton has athletes... LC has good speed but needs to work on catching the ball more consistantly. Heritage has good speed on defense. On offense they are young but tallented.
  19. Im not Fritz, but the had a lot of dropped balls by the receivers and a couple could have been scores. The final was Heritage 5 - Cumberland Co. 3. The defense had some missed coverages but looked fair at times. All and All a pretty good 7 on 7 scrimmage.
  20. Couldn't have said it any better myself.......I know we havevnt even played a game yet but I am so excited about this season. The kids have been working so hard and the coaches have been prepairing them so well. I hope all of the preparation shows on the field. I have never seen a Heritage team work so hard in the off season as this team has so far. Good luck Mountaineers, lets start the season off with a good BEAVER beaten..... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> GO MOUNTAINEERS...................
  21. Thanks STARS, I didn't realize he had grown again, and I had forgotten about Chapman, & Guy. All of these kids should be good players and make an impact for there teams this season.
  22. Chase Cline (Heritage) Had a very strong Freshman year with over 700 yrds rushing and 7 tds. Looked real good this spring. Should see several carries this season from the tailback spot. Justin Newman (Heritage) Will contribute a lot this season at the wide out position. He had a very good spring. Great hands and pretty good speed. Patton Robinett (Maryville QB) 6'3" very athletic kid with a great arm. Vee Hambrick (Alcoa) Unbelievable speed and quickness. Should see a lot of min. for the Tornados this season on there way to another state title. Jacob West (Maryville) Played a ton of min. for the Varsity last year at LB & running back. Buy the end of the season he became a starter. Probably the best soph. in the area. Just a few from Blount Co. that I can think of. GO MOUNTAINEERS /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
