  1. Looks like LHS is on the up and up this year. Coach Stevens has done a comendable job gathering the team together and the practices are looking real sharp. There was a great hit session with Goodpasture so the vibe has to be positive with one exception. Practice was interrupted yesterday by what sounded like a terrorist invasion. All one could hear was intense screeching and howling, only to see in the distance a black pickup truck. I wondered what it was after I regained my hearing, but after a short while I again refocused on the practice. GO 'RINES!!!!!!
  2. Obviously this post was in jest, but in all honesty Coach Hester has done a fine job with the 'Rines during his tenure. I wish the best of luck to whomever is awarded the position.
  3. Boy, I sure do feel for that Capella guy knowing that he lost his wife to cancer a year ago, and he is getting all of this attention hear on the T. In regards to Walter applying for the position (LMS janitor), that is unconfirmed but he would be a heck of an old ball coach. He might have just replaced Coach Duggin as the dark horse for this opening. I just got word from Peter King that Shadowens is out. So to round out the top three in no particular order here we go 1. Walter the LMS janitor (at least the 'Rines bathrooms wouldn't smell like death) 2. Dwight Yoakum (a dark horse, but he can sing the national anthem like noone else) 3. George W. Bush (his fuzzy math might just mean a playoff birth) So far thats it. I'll keep y'all posted
  4. Now look, first of all most coaches, at least those who are worth a nickel know that your either a teacher or a coach. You can't be both. These rumors of Capella are absurd. Other than being a d-coordinator at Lancaster Christian, he really hasn't put the time in to be a head coach. A guy you really have to look at is Stephen Crutchfield. Cruchfield mastered the intricacies of the culinary arts so quickly that he surely could handle the complexities of the spread offense if he so chose to run that. He may coach barefoot (which has yet to be confirmed) but there is no doubt that he would right the LHS ship!
  5. The rumors of Capella leaving the field goal return unit are uncomfirmed. He has all that he wants at LMS. Lets keep it serious on here please. *****Breaking News****** Coach Long of LMS fame could be introduced as early as 3pm today as the next head coach to dawn the blue and silver. GO 'Rines!
  6. Any ideas on who the frontrunner is for what is likely to be the hottest opeing of the Spring? I heard that Yancey Thigpen called over and talked to the AD but don't quote me on that. Here is what I hear coming out of LaVergne 1. Shadowens had coffee with Hester at the Chruch street Shoneys. 2. Coach Long from LMS threw his name into the hat with a strong outing this year, plus he co-authored the Tony Franklin "Nascar" offense. 3. A dark horse here would have to go to a relative unknown named Coach Duggin. Fresh from the halls of MTSU, this up and comer has a lot to offer but may be a bit overwhelmed with the task of heading up the LMS baseball team this year, may conflict with Spring workouts adn such. I'll try to keep y'all posted.
  7. Sounds to me like a fair is where hogs get ribbons. So lets not talk about fair. Whats not fair is the way the Gallatin fanbase treats officials, opposing crowds and women. And reading, and hygiene. So lets be real
  8. Were is all of this tradition talk comign from? Heres a little multiple choice question: If you were to rename the mascot for Gallatin what would be the best choice? A. Oragami B. Coleman (as in tents) C. Fresh Linen D. Fat person's legs I agree with Goldust, the only tradition in Gallatin is folding late in the game. Maybe Dan Reeves could come in there next and try to win the big one. TSSAA still investigating '92, some sort of recruting violation? At least Beech has class.
  9. School is still open but team went from a modified double wing to a no huddle shotgun spread, similiar to Westmoreland. After going undefeated in 08, headcoach took job in Florida, had his hat in at the Protland gig but didn't get it. (Lucky him)
  10. I do care to elaborate. Several qualified applicants applied for the job, Portland has top notch facilities and great fans, so no offense to the guy that they hired but.......... he was a position coach for a losing program, not even a coordinator. So how does a guy like that get the job at Portland??? I'll let y'all do the research. Let's face it politics sometimes comes to play in these situations. I do know that at least one coach was a head coach and coming from an undefeated program and was not even called back.
  11. That's like saying that Watertown is a good rival with Trousdale. HAHA, just because you play someone, does not make you a rival. Portland's program is a joke. Shady hiring + awful coaching = blowout. Portland has a lot of tradition and great facilities but is in a region where they cannot compete. I really feel bad for them, the kids deserve better. Whitehouse 48 Portland 6
  12. Well, I'm just saying that the guy that came over from eagleville is a little unorthadox. Apparantly he coaches barefoot??? But hey, if it will shore up what was a porous offensive line unit then, so be it. Hester has got the kids on a strict PB and J diet which seems to be working, looked alot faster in and out of cuts. Looking forward to seeing this Ontario James fellow, with Booker never panning out. Think he ended up at Covenant or something.
  13. Any predictions this year about those LaVergne Wolverines? I hear they got a line coach from Eagleville that is suppose to be pretty good. They say he was left Eagleville because his agent didn't like his contact???
  14. I knew that you couldn't resist. Look croz, I am only trying to get your goat, don't be so serious. Its only high school football! And yes that scottsboro kid is an idiot.
  15. well said. I am just talking about this year. I have given G'Ville props in this post many times for their past records and beign difficult to beat. No doubt FCS and TC are the class of region 4, but based on this year, it is a two team division as it has been for the better part of the last 5 years.
  16. Well, I'll respond to you. Its not like I just picked a region and made a bunch of assumptions. 5 of the 8 teams in that region are average or way below average. SO based on 2008, how can people say that it is the toughest region?? It may have the top team, that doesn't make it the toughest region. I probably know a little more about football than you give me credit for. I do however like to play devil's advocate. I have no stake in any of those schools so my opinions are not biased, just what I see. You may disagree, that is the beauty of America, but I really don't believe that I have attempted to insult you. I just don't feel that G'Ville or any of the other teams aside from FCS or TC are that good this year. You can call tell me that I know nothing about football, but really it will not take away my opinions. If you ignore an itch, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
  17. WHOOOO HOOOOOOO Gordonsville is the best! What a classy post. Records can be deceiving, you are right about that. And I said already that G'Ville was usually a pretty decent team but this year they are just average, along with everyone else from that region except FCS and Trousdale. I think I've said that all along. Maybe G'Ville can play LCA in a bowl game that they are trying to get. It would be interesting to see that running back run roughshod over LCA. Not even sure roughshod is a word but I guess it applies here. It would be a great opportunity for LCA to see where they are at as far as a program is concerned. Maybe, since you know everything about football, you could arrange that.
  18. I will try to address everyone's post 1 at a time. 1st, the silver trophy is nice and congrats to FCS on getting it. Here is my point...When you play a schedule that allows you to have subs in by the 2nd or 3rd quarter every game, it must not be very competitive. Again, I also said that region 4 had two of the better teams but still in 2008 which is this year, not the best region in football. Three teams with a winning record out of 8 would be tough to argue about being the best. There is no sense in arguing opinions, they are like butts, everyone has one and they all stink.
  19. Also for the record...I am not a coach, player, or employee of LCA. I have friends there and that is all. I also disagree with region 4 being the best in football. They may have the best team but not the toughest region. TC beating everyone by 40 is hardly competitive. That's why FCS got beat in the championship game, they played half decent to poor teams all year and then played a tough team and lost.
  20. All I did was bring up the current records and point out that there are two or three good teams in that region, not 5 or 6 like another poster suggested. I have seen all of the teams in that region play. Thank God I am in 5A now. It is the fan base of some of those teams that is dillusional. When you get mad at me, just pop in varsity blues or Friday Night lights since you can't actually relive the glory days when your team actually had a chance to win that region, drink some sweet tea and relax. For the record, I know LCA would not win that region, I know they would take some lumps, would they get blown out every week....NO. The games against most LIKE G'Ville would be competitive. Not bad for a school that has 1/4 to 1/3 the enrollment of those schools. I tell you what...from now on I will come on here and start my post with WHOOOO HOOOOO G'VILLE IS THE GREATEST TEAM EVER or really any other school that hasn't won anything since Clinton inhaled. That way I can be just as dillusional. TC and FCS dominate that region, the rest are average at best with the bottom two or three being terrible!
  21. G'Ville may win, but they would not run roughshod over LCA. Have you ever seen LCA play? Lots fo folks come on here and criticize LCA but really don't know a thing about the program. LCA would welcome tougher competition, they never dreamed that they would dominate those teams. They only wanted to be able to compete. Also, unless my info was incorrect, was MJCA leading G'ville at halftime 14-13? Oh and another note dealing with this particular thread, yes the Mt. Juliet area is booming but MJCA is run horribly. The administration is weak, especially at the secondary level and is not dedicated to athletics, nor is the church. That school should have built much more than what they currently have. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. In short, MJCA has a horrible athletic reputation, most athletes go to FCS, DCA or Davidson. I feel sorry for the parents who want desperatley to have a solid program but it gives way every year to pridea nad arrogance.
  22. FCA has done a good job of scheduling difficult non-region games. I know that their middle school program even ventured out to play some 5A rutherford county schools. But I am not talking about non-region games. Clay County is far from a power house, Watertown is mediocre as are Monterey and this year G-ville. G-Ville is the only team that is half decent every year other than FCS and TC. SO here is that power house region: TC 7-0 FCA 7-0 Clay County 4-3 Monterray 1-6 Watertown 3-4 G-Ville 3-4 RBS 0-7 MJCA 1-6 total of 26-30. I understand that G-Ville has scheduled tough opponents but the rest of that region is sorry, with only one team above .500 aside from the perennial division winners. Also, a tougher schedule may not benefit those teams because then you have to deal with actually game planning for other teams and also adversity, injuries, etc. These all-American teams are good now but it will be interesting to see what happens when they get their wish. It will make for some good football though.
  23. As far as private school teacher pay and stipends, it isn't even a comparison. Public pays much better than most private schools but who coaches for the money? I know the money aspect from both sides as I have worked in both arenas. Hmmm... Private school No benefits, no retirement, clueless administration, less pay, more duties. Sounds like an even deal. I'll stick with public. MJCA is making a smart move to go to DII. There will be more even competition for them and they are hardly getting better. Whats more interesting is to see what happens to those "power houses" once they have to play in different regions and don't have the same 5 or 6 bad teams to whip every year.
  24. I am sure that someone out there would love for an opportunity to play one more game. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. It will be a great gauge for the team as well. Perhaps it will provide an opportunity to silence the critics so to speak after playing a mild schedule.
