  1. Good luck this week Rebels! You are a great group of young men with plenty of class, on or off the field. Most folks seem to think you can't win this one I hope you prove them all wrong! You do have alot of fans that think you can win. So let's go out and show all of them what the Rebels can do. A win at Burley would be soooo sweet. I'ts been 11 years since we've been there, let's give everybody a night to remember and one they will want to forget. PROUD TO BE A REBEL!
  2. Good luck to the Gap the rest of the season. Last night didn't turn out like we wanted it to, but man what a game! Watching both Qb's on O or D was some head banging ball. Both are big, strong and like to hit.
  3. Hard fought game Rebs! Two OT's 55-56! Battle of the QB's. We didn't stop the up the middle run and it hurt us bad. But way to play hard Rebs and you never quit. Proud of all of you. Everybody got their money's worth tonight. Hope you didn't leave before the 4th quarter, if you did, man you missed it. Two tough QB's, no doubt. Don't hang your head Rebels, tonight was just a heartbreaker.
  4. Hey Fighting Cockes, for what its worth, I saw you guys beat Greeneville pretty bad at GHS back in the late 90's. Just remember where you came from. You can get there again.
  5. I agree with you, they didn't give up. If they keep on playing like that all season I think they will get a win. Good Luck on the rest of your season CC.
  6. It maybe be close, who knows in high school football. It depends on who shows up to play, but I am sticking with the Rebs for the win.
  7. I would love to have those guys back too, they are tough to replace! Hope our boys will keep towing the line on D and the O-line can open some holes to run it, because we do have ground speed. Agreed on the secondary, we have gotten burned more than we should have and missed too many opportunities for interceptions. Hopefully they will be working on that this week. Still have too many dropped passes! Wondering if what I have read on here is true about C Gap, it sounds like Shipley is kind of on his own this year. They apparently lost alot to graduation, maybe not last year's team.
  8. I'll have to pick my Rebels taking this conference opener. Last year the score was 42-20. The Rebs D is equally as good as last years if not better and the O is twice as good this year. The O is a much more seasoned and mature group this year who worked hard during off the season, as did the D. I won't make an exact guess on the score, but I know how much they want to win their home and conference opener. Go Rebels!
  9. Way to go Rebels! Keep on working hard...1 Friday night at a time.
  10. The South Greene team was on the way home from Unicoi last night after a road victory, very happy to win thier opener and then we heard the tragic terrible news about the Sullivan South player. Then it didn't seem as important that they won. Everybody in our small community is heartbroken for Jake's family, teammates and friends. Even though we didn't know this fellow or his family, it doesn't matter, we are so sorry to hear about the loss of a football brother. I can't imagine what his family and team is going through. The Rebels will be praying for all of you to get through this tragic loss. May God bless all of you who loved him.
  11. Congats to Rebel QB Susong in winning the longest throw! Thought him and the Rebel O did a heck of a job the 2 plays we got to see them.
  12. Thanks for the score update on WG. We had to leave, it was just too darn hot to sit there any longer.
  13. Torch, how many times do i have to tell you that size doesn't matter..... Getting back to the Jamboree....i thought SG got away with one tonight, gonna have to have a whole lotta those big plays to overcome the shortcomings in the defense. The Rebels just plain got lucky. No way they could have played with Cumberland Gap for 4 quarters...definitely have the talent but a whole lot of work to do. Greeneville seemed to be in mid-season condition. Good to see Quarles show his stuff. Kinda felt sorry for those boys from Grainger. They finally got a drive going against the Devil subs and threw the pick... I thought West Greene showed a lot of promise....just didn't execute particularly well.I fully expect the Buffs to be ready to go when conference play begins full swing....don't underestimate them. I got way too hot to stick around for the CD vs NG quarter...it's heck being an old lady in the heat. How did it go? In case you didn't know SG's 1st team O and D only played the first series and the O scored with just 2 plays. The rest of the quater was second 2nd & 3rd string. I don't think it was luck. Last year SG beat them 42-20. Who won the WG/Claiborne quarter? We left before they were done and it was still 0-0. Your right it was just too hot!
  14. The Rebel fans will be there, even if they have to stand or sit in lawn chairs. Same goes for Buffs and Black Knights fans as well. Yes your field is pretty and you can seat more people, but that's not the point. We have every right to have a HOME game (That means on OUR fields)! Did Greeneville really think the local schools would agree to come to Burley every year now that they are conference games? Greeneville has bored to death anyone who will listen to them brag about themselves ever since their conference change last year. Guess you boys better walk the walk now that you have been talking the talk for 10 months. My guess on the jamboree outcomes are: SG over C.Gap GHS over Grainger WG over Claiborne CD over NG
  15. Why would they play at Greeneville? GHS is now in the same conference, why should they always get home field advantage? That wouldn't be fair at all. If you play against smaller schools the smaller stadiums are usually part of it. When they used to play the county teams it was just a money maker for the schools. Now it's conference play and any coach that would agree to give Greeneville a home game every year is nuts, even though were in the same county.
  16. If we bore you that bad maybe you should have stayed where you were. The county teams have just been busy with practice, scrimages and school. We don't need to get on here and have folks tell us how great we are to feel good about our teams. We would rather let our playing do our talking for us. As far as fans go wait until you go to WG and see the Buffs fan turnout, CD game too and when SG comes to Burley Stadium it will look like the Maryville game last year. I went to the city/county games back then and the county teams always had a huge fan turnout. I would almost bank on more county fans at these games than Devil fans. It might even draw a little much needed funding for some of the county sports teams. So Devils if you happen to lose against even one of them EVERYBODY will watching! You better hope you beat all of us this year cause if you don't you will need all the support you can get!
  17. How did SG look did they have any impressive players?
  18. Oh yeah, they are definitely not the WG from years past. They finally have a coach and they have a large number of students at the school to fill the team.
  19. I figured that dad was lying! These are the teams in WG conference. So who do you see WG beating in conference play this year. District 2-AA Greeneville 4A Claiborne 4A Graigner Co. 4A Chuckey Doak 3A South Greene 3A West Greene 3A Cumberland Gap 3A
  20. Hey Hampton guys I was told by a WG dad that they beat you all in that scrimage. How pitiful is that? How does WG really look? Do you all think they will be any competion in thier conference????
