  1. Ground game mainly Titanfan99. I thought SC did a pretty good job against the pass for the most part. The Tiger ground game was very effective after the first few possessions. The backs broke a few long runs 21, 29, 44 and the line blocked good. The Defense was the story for me. The best defensive performance I've seen yet by the Tigers. They needed that to pull off this win.

Tigers...great win!!! enjoy it now and lets get back to business this week because we got another tough game (again and again...we do have a challenging schedule this year) this week.

I agree with Termite, Glover and other Owl fans that sometimes it takes a loss like this along the way to get a team to remain focused on the big picture. I believe Smith County will respond well to this loss, get refocused this week and will be a handful in their next game (White House?). Good luck to the Owls the rest of the way.

    Thanks!!!

  2. Congrats to the Tigers of Macon County. Completely whipped us all over the field. We could not block or tackle anyone. Hats off to #22 for the Owls. Every inch of yardage you got was by yourself. Absolutely zero blocking. Defense appeared wore out by halftime. Offense could not do much of anything against a defense that hasn't stopped anybody all year. Best of luck to the Tigers the rest of the year. I would hate to be an owl at practice next week.

    :excl:

Hey, I didn't get to go to the game due to a prior commitment. I got info thru text. I mentioned before the game on here and caught alot of crap about "downing" the coach. Well, did #22 run much tonight?...that's the one thing I wanted to happen. He's a great athlete..and, (once again..this is just my "humble" opinion)..he's not been a threat to run much this year...and the wing t ain't worth much if your quarterback isn't a threat to run with ball. So, did he run much last night?...just wondered?

  3. And it begins. If our coach does this, if our coach will let us do that. Give me a break. That "coach" has more wins than anyone that has coached at Macon Co put together in the last 40 years probably. He has one gold ball and was a handful of points away from at least two more. Na, he doesn't know anything.

    :excl:

And so "what" begins????...if our coach is much of a man and you asked him if he's made some mistakes the first three games I hope he'd say yes....and no more than I know about football I came up with 2 or 3 observations. That doesn't mean I don't support the coach. The only coach not making a mistake is one who's not on the sidelines. And, if he can't take people saying what he did right or wrong then he's probably not ready for the job. He got out coached in the Trousdale game. Our 2 min offense was awful. But, in his defense it was his first game. The 4th down fake punt was unusual and I'm sure he didn't see that coming. But, he did get out coached. Best thing is his team is improving..and for his first year with kids in a new system that is all that can be expected. But, when I see something crazy...like, not repeating a play that worked...then I and I hope anyone else on here would wonder why?...for goodness sakes...Goodpasture scored at least 4 times...ON THE SAME FREEKING PLAY....it worked and they kept running it...to me that's good coaching. Just my "humble" opinion. I just wonder if Macon has a decent year and wins 7 or 8 games the next year or two if Smith County will drop us too?????...just asking?

  4. We played four years in AAA...2001-2004. The first two years (12-2, 13-1) we made it to the semi's, loosing to the eventual state champs both years. The next year, 2003 (7-4), we started mainly sophomores....Jr's. in 2004 (9-3). That class was moved back down in '05 going undefeated. The first two years were very solid, the next two, we were young and probably a little over matched, but you can see what that Sr. class in '05 did. Could they have won AAA that year....who knows, but they did beat the AAA State Champion, Livingston Academy, during the regular season. Overall...41-10 ain't too bad, is it?

That is good..but, no rings...and, in TC if you don't get a ring then it's not good. Just one of the down sides to having a successful program. I thought it was stupid when they went up to AAA. I'll admit 41-10 is good, but it ain't great!!...TC is a great single A team, if I was them I'd stay there and keep winning state titles, and it looks like that is what they will do!....The past two years when they played Macon I thought Macon had the better team, but TC would have two big plays, mainly due to speed and would win. Then, later in the year they looked like a totally different team. They improved more by the end of the year than any other team I watched. This year they looked good from the start. (a last minute transfer from Station Camp didn't hurt any...huh!!!!)

  5. Is MC figured into your opponents Strenght + Success stat?? If so, that evidently raises their Success stat, ya think? Oh and by the way....you left out that SC is 1.370 and MC is 1.000. AND the team you beat is a mighty 0.630. Even Westmoreland is .803. So if your going to put stats on here, put them ALL.

Your right, SC is 5-0 and ain't played nobody. And from the looks of things MC don't play TC or Goodpasture either.

I don't think anybody asked but......you got to be kidding.....you mean ya'll let ya'll players hit hard? You don't mean real hard do you? Your just making that up. :roflol:

Well, if you check our schedule at least we "showed up" for the games between TC and Goodpasture...more than could be said for SC.. Hey, I totally understand...pad your schedule with easy teams, get you 6 or 7 wins...it's all good. But, when you do that, don't put down teams that don't do it....You have not played anybody, and won't until you get to the play offs...in the same caliber as Goodpasture or TC...fact is fact!!...and, we held Goodpasture to a 28-28 tie at half time...then the better team won. And the practice thing was thrown in becasue it's a known fact that the scout team can't hit the first string offense, but the first string gets to knock the crap out of them....guess it builds their confidence!!..The key to Macon winning over Smith County will be our coach letting Grace roll out and run or pass. He ran 55 yards on a naked boot leg against TC and that was the only time "I think" we've tried that play all year. And, your running backs are faster than we are...our speed on defense is why we can't stop anybody...and, we usually start the 1st half with our small defensive line. Once the bigger guys got in on defense in the TC game we stopped them. Just a few observations....good luck!!

  6. It's mostly always always always having a Harper in the backfield. If we had one player as fast as him up in Macon County we'd be at least 3 & 1 now. Trousdale County would have beat Macon by 50 points if they'd just kept pitching it wide to "either" running back. They are so much faster than we are. And, we got out coached in that game. Just saying....speed really really helps...especially in SINGLE A!!!!!....Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they had near as much success when they moved up a few AA'S a few years back!!!

  7. Well, I HAVEN'T seen LAUGHETTE yet. I've seen "Carthage", or at least I thought I did. I must have been watching somebody else. The team I'v been watching has scored 127 points and give up 13 and averaging around 200 yds running....over and around everybody.

Laughette's stingy defense has held 4 teams to 157 points ( about 40 points a game)so it appears you know something about being run over, and you may be right. :thumb::lol:

Don't know how much stock you put in the Strength + Success stat here on coach T...but, based on that the teams Smith County have played average out to 0.9516. Macon County's 4 opponents come in at an average of 1.117. We've only played one team...one...(and we beat them) that is below 1.250 (Goodpasture and Friendship Christian are both 1.250 with Satterfield County..opps...Trousdale County a hefty 1.337. 3 of Smith County's wins have been against teams 0.825 or LOWER!!!....so, it should be a good game. And not only do you not play Trousdale County...you don't play Goodpasture anymore either....huh!!....Hope the kid with the broken leg is doing good...and, fyi....the Macon County Coaching staff let's our scout team defense go full speed and hit our first stringers hard....makes for less traumatic injuries...!!

  8. If you know for a fact exactly who is behind this then by all means please tell us. I for one would like to know who in Macon County has this much power. And, why if he's just been accoused wouldn't he fight it?...the only way for this to stop is to let the decent folks know who's behind it so it can be stopped the next time!!!!!

  9. The way I hear it he is out. Had something to do with texting a student. Also, heard the text was not pornographic in nature or in anyway out of line. But, somehow and I don't know how but someone found out about it and he resigned. But, that being said...you people on here that keep bashing Macon County people can kiss my butt...,.I'm one of the people who pay to see the games and I don't even have a kid playing. And, I've not had anything to do with ever removing a coach. The problem with Macon County is that there are a handful of people who control our school system from top to bottom. And, they run it...short of running for school board member and making everyone in Macon County hate me what can the regular person do to stop it?...if anyone on here has anything constructive to say then by all means let me know!!!!

  10. I think the biggest mistake the coaching staff in Macon made all year long was not showing "at least a possiblilty" of a run. John Elway or any other QB to ever play the game can't be successful if the defense knows he's throwing on EVERY STINKIN' PLAY!!!!....If that is corrected next year then I think Macon will win some games. If it's not corrected then it'll be more of the same.

Until we can find another QB, Tigers have 2 more years of this....atleast the JR. High did well. :roflol:

Put the blame on the sophmore QB,Dallas has done what he has been told.I know he makes mistakes, and he also knows, but what i have seen so does the rest of the team, but i guess someone has to be blamed. What do you expect, trust me if Goolsby, changes QBs,that would be alot of unneeded presure on a 15 year old kid.I cant see anyone else doing any better,if they can maybe they will put them in.You just have no idea, what he goes through, all anyone notices is the interceptions, threw 10 pics in 3 games, alot because we was behind being ask to throw deep and into coverage, and i guess it was all his fault we was behind. He calls and runs the play that he is told. The coaches have brought this team a long way in a short time, but they are young. What has me confused noone notices the good things, or the mistakes made on D or the dropped passes and fumbles on O or the penalitys, just the QB.We have scored 19 TDs and 13 of them by passing, and dropped a few turned the ball over on downs also, the number 6 passer in the state and the intercepion leader as well, 2 kids in the same class that will get close to setting the single season record, for most receiving yards in a season, alot of kids coming back next year, our best running back on O alot of linemen who will be ready to play next year and most of our D .So for our teams age and playing experiance, this has not been to bad of a year, and better days are ahead. The only reason i could think you feel this way is you must have a kid either in highschool or fixing to be,and your want them playing QB. So tell them to take his place,Goolsby seems to be fair,if they can win the posistion go for it.There is no way anyone can put this season on any ONE PLAYER. Like you said two more years, well my family has listened to people like you for 3 years already,so we really have something to look foward to the next two years as well. The JR High had a great year,a big differance in 12-14 year olds playing, and 15 year old boys playing 19 year old men. With an exception to a couple of years, the JR high has always had a good season.GOOD LUCK TIGERS,hang in there stay together better times next year.Dallas keep your head up,keep working.LOVE YA DAD[/quote

  11. I'm pullin for Macon and I hope they can get at least one win this year. I'm confused about two things. Why don't we show just a little run. There are a "handful" of pro teams that can throw every down with no play action or miss direction. Correct me if I'm wrong but can you name two teams in the last 30 years that have won the state throwing every down...? I'm also confused on defense. Our defensive ends stand straight up and "catch" the man in front of them. No penetration at all. I've never seen a team at any level play this way. I'd also like to add that I've not watched every game but in the 2 loses I've seen these were two problems that have to be fixed to be successful....any comments?

  12. Greenbrier has already beaten Sycamore this season. When you combine that with the fact that they've taken care of business in the non-district games against Springfield, Portland, & Cheatham then you'd see that they'll be in good shape when comparing them to Sycamore-Macon OR Sycamore Westmoreland in any kind of 3-WAY tiebreaker scenario.

Basically all Greenbrier has to do in order to make the playoffs is to win 1 of their 2 games against Macon County & Westmoreland. This week the Bobcats go to Lafeyette to take on the Tigers in the 1st of those 2 contests. If Greenbrier beats Macon then they are going to be a Class 4A playoff team when the bracket is released on Saturday morning October 31st. Good luck to the Bobcats this week.

I hope Greenbrier doesn't go to Macon expecting to get an easy win because everyone remembers what happened down there in 2007 and how it nearly cost Greenbrier a trip to the playoffs that season :roflol:

I'll say this, and probably get hammered for it, but IMO, MC is a little ahead of Westy. I saw both play SC. I know Westy beat SC that night, but overall, I thought MC was the better of the 2. No matter, how this year comes out for MC, it looks like Goolsby has them going in the right direction.[/quote

Thanks for the good comments and I agree whole heartdly!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Once again I can only think of one word to describe you...pathetic...

Not only are you stupid but you're also a lier...what street are you hearing the "word" on??...I'm ashamed that someone on here might even "think" you are from Macon County...(which I really don't think you are)

  14. Goodpasture 38 Macon 6 Play hard boys maybe nest year we can get the coaching staff yall need. Not a smith county over weight liar. school board he dont even have the wright to be at the high schooll level, maybe the state will make him get something so he can teach BI. O THATS RIGHT THE STATE LOOKS OVER SOMEONE IN THAT CLASS.

Wow!...3 posts...and you're already showing that you're an idiot!!...Please, I beg of you, we all know Bear Bryant couldn't win with the Tigers this year and I don't mean to knock our players by saying that. We have few seniors and we have a really good but "young" quarterback. If we can make it thru this year and learn this system I think the next 2 years should be really good!!...so please, just be quiet so people won't know how big an idiot you are!!....(especially if you really are from Macon County...although I doubt that you are :thumb: )

  15. I'm pulling for the Tigers but I know this ain't our year. But, as I've said last week if we give this offense time, plus by next year our sophomore QB should be great. (he threw the ball 50 yards in the air last week for a td)...and he's a Soph. I couldn't go this week so can't comment on the game. My only critisism from the first game was why not call two plays at once. If we would call two plays at once maybe 4 or 5 times a game I think it would keep the defense off guard and would maybe be worth 14 points a game. The way we stare at the sidelines for the play gives the defense a moment to rest...why not suprise them a few times a game and run a pre-determined play..you know..catch them off guard...also, I'd love to see some miss direction in the offense...just my humble opinion....go Tigers

  16. Coach goolsby you said that you could score on anybody, i hope that you can on a 3rd string hartsville team.RBS can beat the coaching staff at mchs.hope you do us a favor, and go back to smith co and take dyer with you. AND THAT IS THE REST OF THE STORY,GOOD DAY :popcorneater:

It's a disgrace that some one like you can use the name Paul Harvey in their sig....I really really wish you'd shut the H*LL up but I know you won't. It's pathetic people like you who give people from Lafayette a bad name. Now, for the comments about the ballgame. We all know it's not gonna be Macon's year. We're young. We have a young quarterback. I think after a year of playing him and growing and learning this "system" (which I'm not that big a fan of) we will be a pretty good ball team in a year or two. Hartsville looks alot better in this first game than they did in the first game last year. I love the offense they run. It's REALLY HARD TO FIND THE BALL!!!....it's simple and they run their 8 playes really well. I personally think that's a big reason they have so many state championships. Keep it simple and hide the ball!!....plus I believe they have alot of seniors and maybe will go undefeated. That being said the Tigers need to play some defense and cover kicks better. And give our new coach a chance!!!!

And if I wasn't clear at the beginning please let's all just stop responding to "paulharvey". Maybe he'll move to another board!!

  17. I live up here in the neighborhood of Macon, Smith and Trousdale counties. I know in the past I've heard of coaches who are trash mouthed. When I played I don't think I ever heard my highschool coach say a cuss word and looking back I respect him for that now. How bout your coaches. Do they use alot of 4 letter words?

  18. Surley not the first year.Give him at least 2 or 3 years. Now last year it was time to call for heads. Come on dude give them fans a break. I hear they got plenty of brown nosers that need bashing.

I'd like to wish the new coach good luck. People bash Macon supporters on these boards (especailly the smith county, trousdale county and westmoreland fans...no offense..) but if you've ever been to a Macon county opener you know that we have alot of fans. We even have alot of fans

at games after 6 or 7 loses. If coach Goolsby wins 4 games this year it will be hugh!!...then maybe some kids will want to play and the ball will start rolling. I watched some of their 1st practice this year and he really keeps the kids moving during practice. Not alot of standing around. I wish him well.

  19. well i guess macon county couldnt conspire and get region format changed to help this time. nor could you use your umps

So glad I found a comment like this on here. Let me guess stubby, you're from Baxter!..how's that field draining?...is it dry yet?

On a serious note why is your coach quitting?..I heard that his wife is in bad health but I don't know that for sure. If that's the case

then I'm sorry to hear it. I honestly can't stand the guy but I wouldn't wish that on anyone? I will pray for him. I've watched highschool

baseball over the last 3 or 4 years and Baxter has had a great team for most of that time. I can't say anything bad about any of their players.

Can't say the same for their coach. We really enjoyed our district champion presentation after the tournament this year...is was a little different

than the one from last year when Baxter won....lol....
