As a blaze fan with NO present children who play on the team, I think I have a unique perspective on the comments made on this board. I was in the stands last night, sitting near some of the player's parents, and couldn't believe the stuff you all say about your own team. I got up and moved in the second half..got tired of listening to it.
Do you really think that the coaches would do anything but put their best players on the field? Their jobs depend on wins....give me a break. That is just the talk of parents who are jealous, plain and simple. This isn't pee wee league when everyone gets a chance to play. It is the most competitive high school region in the state (arguably). Coaches are going to put the BEST out there, regardless of whose daddy they know or what color the kids are. Along the way, they have to teach discipline, and if that means taking a loss to teach a kid some responsibility, then that's their job. That's what I will expect from coaches when my son plays for the Blaze (hopefully). I never want him on the field unless he is the best man for the job.
It's too bad that some of you think that your children are "better" players than who they put on the field. But the truth is that they probably have close to ten or so coaches, some with professional playing experience, who say they are not better. I'm going to go with the opinions of those coaches over what a mama or daddy in the stands says.
As for the Patton issue, that is ridiculous to keep a player out who has been out due to circumstances beyond his control. Does anyone think that Brett Farve won't start for the Jets because he missed spring practice?
I agree that Blackman has a massive amount of improvement to do before next week. Hopefully, they will make some adjustments based on the last two weeks and come out firing. Let's get EXCITED about the team we support. It will take everyone coming together (team and fans) next week to beat Riverdale. We can do it, but this message board bashing of kids and our team has to stop.
