  1. I thought GREYRIDER got ahold of him.
  2. The strip on the 5 was a good call, so I'll swiftly apologize for questioning it. Ball was obviously loose before Shuler was pushed backward. Great play defensively. It was even more evident on the TV broadcast the the referees didn't even know where they were. Working on a screenshot of the ball being released on the two point play. It needs to be seen. All six linemen, including tight end, were well within their three yard pass blocking box. Blown call, cost Maryville the lead with :45 to go. Notice I said lead, not game. :45 is a long time, but 1 point is a huge point.
  3. ND has to talk about CFB because his teams can't compete. Get off the high school message boards! Lulz. White haven fans, sorry this numbskull has hijacked your victory thread. Once again, great game. Glad to take a silver ball home and be 14-1 and participate in the 9th straight title game. Making it ten next year and trying to win another 1st gold ball in a row.
  4. Go watch basketball or pitiful Notre dame football, you have no dog in this fight. Fueled by 100% envy of both teams.
  5. Ah. Yeah like I said from the stands, and IF it was blown. Looking forward to watching the film to see if the poor refereeing (on both sides) was as bad as I thought
  6. I agree. I don't think there was biased refereeing, just poor overall. Bad clock management, no flow. It reminded me of '08 when we had like 6 delay of game penalties because the clock operators. I think its an embarrassment to the TSSAA to have such poor refereeing in the state title game in your biggest division. Why isn't the best of the best crew out there?? Once again, what a great game. Congrats to white haven. Safe trip to Memphis.
  7. Is there a forward progress rule in high school? I can't wait to watch the film of the Shuler fumble early. From the stands it looked as if he was pushed back 4 yards before the strip. We were in the red zone too. That's a big blown call, if it was blown.
  8. I never said biased refereeing, I said BAD refereeing. And the kids rushing the field is much different than the fans who were specifically asked to stay off the field. Then asked multiple times to leave the field. White haven won with athleticism. It takes a lot to overcome simply better athletes at most positions. What a game to watch though!!
  9. Don't worry Art, THEY'LL ALL BE GONE BY THE THIRD QUARTER. KEEP THE BUS WARM.
  10. http://www.tssaa.org/Sports/Football/Instructions/fbdirinst.htm #15, part B: "The host school may sell reserved seat tickets on the home side to people from the host school who have purchased season tickets for regular-season contests. This would apply to schools where there is seating on both sides with a section of the home side sold to season ticket holders. The tickets would be sold for $8.00 and would be sold through Wednesday or Thursday prior to the game. It would be the responsibility of the game administration to administer the reserved seat section and make certain that there is some means of identifying season ticket holders." It would be terribly hard to police, but I think it definitely should be implemeneted. It's legal, obviously, but it seems the school is terrified of losing some gate if a season ticket holder doesn't show up to claim his seat...
  11. Post a link?? "Today's paper" is quite different in Murvul and DB...
  12. Our boys could play in an away atmosphere such as Neyland on Saturdays and execute. Even if DB fans invade like they are claiming they are going to, coaching and simply having been there before will allow them to execute perfectly and do their thing. I simply don't see how a team that averages less than 10 times a game and runs the tripple option will put up quality points against a Jimmy Gaylor defense. Dreams will be broken tonight, that's my prediction.
  13. Ok, well, Ice skating didn't work out, so we all went bowling instead.
  14. Merry Christmas to all! The ignore button was a great present. GovMan, I believe I have plans with some of your close kin today. I will have to give them a hint to give you as to who I am.
  15. Acually, this is great. I can't see any of his posts. If enough people ignore his name, we can just weed him out of the board and not have to deal with it! Ha, or, God forbid, he will go talk about his team(s) on his board(s), instead of instigating all this trouble on our boards.
  16. Don't group all fans together. There are radicals in all fan groups, that may not act how they are supposed to. Such as Bladerunner in his Oakridge/Alcoa/ "whoever has the best chance to beat Maryville" bandwagonning. Some people are just in it to stir up trouble.
  17. I'm glad you realize this. Though Alcoa may have OZ, most of the players who I know that play for them, live somewhere off of Hall Rd in Alcoa.
  18. Honestly, I think people would pick up and move in order to play for these storied programs even if you didn't let them pay tuition and stay where they are. Brent Burnette, QB from Maryville class of '08 is a great example. Lived in Halls until middle school, wanted to play for a good team, and that, among other reasons, fueled a move to Maryville. He paid no tuition, he lived about 5 minutes from MHS, and played 60 games without losing one in high school and got 4 rings. People such as that will still go to these programs. Just the city's population will grow instead of the school's bank account!
  19. That's how he rolls! I love it! He doesn't like the headset and worrying about it so he lets someone else, in this year's case, Derek Hunt, wear it and relay info to him, but he just pulls it all from that genius mind of his. It's unbelievable.
  20. Rankin won't be here much longer. And Blade, who cares what happened in the past, right? August was a long time ago man... I don't know if Alcoa is the best team in the state NOW because they didn't play anyone since August, aside from a minor speed bump with CAK... If Maryville and Alcoa played NOW then I think it would be the game of the year in the state, possibly in the nation.
  21. If you watched the private school games, Maryville and Alcoa would compete with both. But that's another argument entirely. However, I do have an idea. Lets just blow it wide open. Start a mini-BCS of sorts. Name EVERYONE division 1. Let EVERYONE recruit, and ANYONE go to school ANYWHERE. When great players FLOCK to the best coaches and best school tradition: Maryville's George Quarles(and staff) or Alcoa's Rankin and staff, what will be the excuse then?
  22. Funny how you jump on their bandwagon after years of claiming we don't play the "big boys" and we play all these "cupcakes" haha They won this year, and last, with an incredible team during both years, but... here's the stats for you Maryville has won 56 times, Alcoa 22, with three ties. Since 2000: 2000-alcoa 2001- Maryville 2002- Maryville 2003- Maryville 2004- Maryville 2005- Maryville 2006- Maryville 2007- Maryville 2008- Maryville 2009- Alcoa 2010- Alcoa just in case you can't count, that's 3/11. 27.3%. No matter what sport you're in, except baseball maybe, 3/11 is not very good. It's even failing in school, which I'm sure you know plenty about. So, you can have the bragging rights for this year... even last... but we'll take them for the decade
  23. This being said, most of the posters here are unbiased fans as well, and are just conversing about what made their team compete this year. There are no personal attacks going on, in fact, I gave Austin a HUGE hug after the game and congratulated him on a wonderful season and great season ending accomplishment of holding down the house after a big injury to Patten. He has a very bright future ahead of him, and I'm sure everyone on this board wishes him nothing but the best. Well, except maybe bladerunner. He wouldn't be upset if an earthquake knocked Maryville off the map so MAYBE his wildcats could get to the state game
  24. Yeah, you're right. Patten got held back in 7th grade cause they knew he was gonna be starter for the Rebels in 6 years. HA. I don't think he places sports of academics either, considering he made a 36 on the ACT. Harvard is licking its lips trying to get him to come to school there. That being said, I go to church with Austin, and the kid is a great one. He is small to play to QB position, but smart and throws a pretty ball. And you are correct in saying that he should do fine in small college somewhere, if he chooses to play. Canfield did what he was supposed to do. Protected the ball, and did enough to hang on. I don't think anyone, including himself, expected him to go out and throw for 100 yards int he second half, but he stepped under center and hung on to the victory. But, if Robinette had stayed in the game, I would have loved to see what would have happened in the second half.
  25. I have no idea what you are talking about actually. HA if you are referring to some kind of record, then you obviously have misinterpreted my posting name. You obviously have no idea who I am, because, yes, I played for maryville, and 4 losses is 4 times the number I lost in 4 years as a varsity player. But nice try. I better not finish with the number of rings I have............LOL In fact, the only 0-4 I can think of is the record my friends from Alcoa had against me!!
