  1. Showtime: That's what I'm talking about right there. This game is played between folks who all grew up together. Myself and some of my close friends decided to attend Whitehaven when we were growing up even though we lived in Fairley's district at the time. I have other close friends that I grew up with who went to Fairley ... all in the neighborhood and on my street. It was a "bragging rights" game then ... It is a "bragging right" game to this day. No matter how hard you try to escape it ... when you are in the neighborhood ... that will be the topic of conversation. You can't even stop to get gas in the neighborhood and not have someone yell out something to you for one thing or another. It just brings us all closer together. I wouldn't change it for anything. When Fairley is not playing Whitehaven ... I'm rooting for the bulldogs to win, everytime. It's just like that ... it's a community thing. Man ... I'm the youngest of four brothers and all of my older brothers attended Fairley back in the day. I feel it first hand. Anyway ... some folks get carried away with the banter and whatnot when we should all be celebrating another opportunity so sit down and watch the next generation of folks in that tightnit community experience what we experienced those years back. It's a bond. Whether you are a Fairley Bulldog till the day you die or a mighty Whitehaven Tiger for life ... It's all good. Speaking of bonds ... I grew up with Martavious Neloms father back in the day, and I ran into Martavious' grandfather at the IHOP located in the Southland mall parking lot. By just talking to him ... you could see how pleased he was that his grandson got a scholarship to play football at the University of Kentucky. He was like ... "You know my grandson is playing football up there in Kentucky don't you?" and I was like ... "Yes sirrrrrr ... that grandson of yours can play some football, I saw him up close and personal giving my Whitehaven Tigers fits last year ... and other folks as well." ... Then he blew me out of the water by asking me ... "You wanna go to some games with me when they play in Lexington?" ... I was like ... "Are you kidding me? ... I'd love to go with you to a SEC football game in Lexington!" It doesn't matter that he is just a freshman and he probably may not get any playing time now. That's not the point. Its moments like that that just make you sit back and smile ... I mean ... what else can you say? ... it's why we love the game ... the commraderie ... the memories ... the people you share it with. Like I said earlier ... we all share a bond. Anybody making comments about lil Holliday can't be to close to the program. We had very high hopes for Marcus and were going to use him a great deal this year behind Tony but I believe Marcus did what was best for him and I know his father supported him 110%. Lil Holliday is a heck of a football player and will shine at Fairley. Good luck Friday Bulldogs and hope for a good clean football game.

  3. I can understand why you may say what you say but the Tigers have a pretty young staff and alot of mistakes have been made over the years, but that same staff is responsible for back to back 10 win seasons. Last night's game was especially painful. G-Town was stopped cold on 4th and 1. Their running back Thorton took a hand off and his foward progress was stopped(whistle should have been blown)but he was able to toss the ball forward into the end zone where his fullback was able to get on top of it. Touchdown!!!!!
  4. Whitehaven @ G-town Whitehaven is my pick as if you didn't know. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> WhiteStation @Millington I want Millington but this should be a good game. Melrose @ East I think East may have what it takes in a hard fought battle. Fairley @ Henry County I'm going with the upset. QB Devin Starks will win this one for the Bull Dogs! MUS @ MBA MUS had a good season.
  5. Everyone knows that we have a pretty good defense, but I think this week we will come out of our offensive funk this week. Practices have been good despite the weather.
  6. White out at Whitehaven. All Whitehaven fans are asked to where something white and bring your white terrible towels.
  7. Are you coming to the game. If so I would like to meet you. I think that Whitehaven will have to jump out early and get a lead. Whitehaven wants no part of a defensive struggle with Craigmont.
  8. Whitehaven's gun will be fully loaded next time they face G-Town. Everyone is back and well rested.
  9. It sure was nice to be at practice today at Whitehaven and see everyone healthy. Jeremy Pryor (6-4) the big play receiver for the Tigers who has been out since the Houston game practiced full pads for the first time. Cortez Mosby was in full pads after sitting out of the G-Town game as well was starting QB Fred Flanorl. I am very excited about our chances this post season. Let's get it started, but first we have to take care of Woodale.
  10. I agree with all of your picks. Kirby may have one last upset up their sleeve.
  11. It's my understanding that Hamilton won the game, but I don't have the score.
  12. I stand corrected. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to see them again with all our bullets for the gun.
  13. Tre Stewart #8 has worked hard for us over his career at Whitehaven and deserves for that to happen. I'm going to push for that.
  14. Don't necessarily agree with the the tigers having a hard time containing the triple option. Here are the stats to the game. Keep in mind G-town ran the ball every play accept maybe 3. GERMANTOWN 14, WHITEHAVEN 12 Germantown 7 0 0 7 ??” 14 Whitehaven 6 0 0 6 ??” 12 W ??” Gene Robinson 6 pass from Jeremy Malone (kick failed) G ??” Hunter Hiatt 1 run (John Dangerfield kick) W ??” Tony Jefferson 10 run (pass failed) G ??” Julian Jones 27 pass from Sir Gregory Thornton (John Dangerfield kick) G W First downs 7 16 Net yards rushing 121 188 Net yards passing 27 87 INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS RUSHING ??” Germantown, Sir Gregory Thornton 13-50. 15. MUS- Boy I would love for Whitehaven to play this team Cordova- Hope they win for the showdown next week. White Station-Defense will be the key in this one. Whitehaven- I'm very bias on this pick. Hope the tigers can get the win despite adversity. That's the mark of a championship team.
  16. Would like to meet you at tonights game if you are going to attend. I think you do a wonderful job reporting the Tigers and all of Memphis high school football.
  17. We are not as explosive as we were a year ago (Whitehaven), but we are a more physical ball club. I think our focus as a team has changed to a more ball control offense. We brought back our entire offensive line from last season and we have won the battle up front every week. The defense is a stronger unit this year than what it was last year. We are content with punting the football and playing defense, but of course you no there's still game breakers on offense.
  18. What's up Rob just found this message board. Checked you guys out last night, got ther at the beginning of the fourth quarter. I was very impressed with what I saw. I guess we are on a colition course for a rematch of last years second round classic.
  19. Two long pass plays in a 10 play controled scrimage does not prove the superior team. I was there and I feel if this was a 4 quarter game Whitehaven's defense would have dominated. Offensively the Tigers moved the ball at will passing and especially running. I think if you have seen Whitehaven this year the kicking game is much improved. Whitehaven has not allowed more than 17 points by anyone in the last 21 games.
