  1. It's about time! Coach Williams has run the program in the ground and there seemingly was no end in sight. Finally, Coach Shepherd will be back to right the wrongs.
  2. Easy region? I'll admit that it's not as tough as when Maryville and West were in there, but you've still got Clinton, Anderson Co., Powell, Oak Ridge, Halls, and Central. Not exactly an easy walk into the playoffs.
  3. I can assure you that I'm not Coach Williams. I've even said that I don't think he's the best play-caller in the world. I'm simply trying to make the point that blaming a loss on one person is almost impossible in a football game. That would be the same as blaming a loss on a kicker, or a ref or the offensive line, or any number of people involved. However, calling for a man's job (especially in this day and time) is completely out of line, and out of character for a real Halls fan. But, if all we can think of is "blame a coach", then maybe I'll get on board too.
  4. So let me get this straight... Halls is up 7-6 through most of the third quarter. Neither team is looking exceptionally good. Halls gets pinned down inside their own 10yd. line twice and has to punt. And that is the OC's fault? The defense is giving up 1st downs and time off the clock like halloween candy. And that's the OC's fault? Then, when it's crunch time, the OC dials up two critical TD's to give us a chance and we don't get an onsides kick. And that's the OC's fault? Now, I don't believe that this was best called game of all time, but your outcry tells me that you know absolutely nothing about football and easiest thing you can do is blame a coach. OR... You're a football genius with all the answers. If the later is true, then WHY ARE YOU NOT DOWN THERE HELPING OUT??? The other question I'd like to know is, if Halls is full of next level talent, then why aren't they making next level plays?
  5. I can't imagine that the Halls coaches just didn't notice our glaring weaknesses in the passing game or just refused to do anything about it and focus on the run-only approach. From the games I saw (Bearden comes to mine) pass plays were called to open areas that were either dropped, not thrown, sacked, etc... On top of that, I wonder how many times passes were called at the right time that were executed poorly because the kids did the opposite of what they were coached to do. I would have to think that Coach Julian and staff tried to work out these problems, but for whatever reason, the passing game never clicked. Now, I'm sure that there were many bad calls on both sides of the ball throughout the season and by no means am I suggesting that it was all the kids' fault, but again we don't know how much was bad play selection in comparison to poor execution going against what the players were taught in practice. I think we should all keep in mind that it's never as good as it seems and never as bad as it seems.
  6. I thought OJ made his return vs L.C. last week /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  7. I understand that Halls hasn't quite had the season that we all thought would be, but I don't know that I'd classify their program as "in the sewer." If I'm not mistaken, Halls has only missed the playoffs three or four times since the tssaa moved to the 5 classification system. I can't hardly see how that is in the sewer.
  8. Is that why powell couldn't beat webb's dinky little wing-t with D-1 level talent? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  9. I'll have to agree with the original IronMan (don't fall out of your seat). I don't even want to do the math. If there's a glimmer of hope, I'll take it. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  10. So, according to your theories, when clinton, powell, and west were racking up points and yards up and down the field in an incredible fashion, it was up to the OC to step in and make a change? Have you ever stopped and thought that the lack of production comes largely in part to the fact that the three players (dayton, kitts, and kelly) who scored the majority of the Halls TD's for the last two years are gone?
  11. So let me get this straight... You've got zero coaching experience, you quit high school football after a couple of years, you've bashed everyone involved in the program from the head coach through the guy who does the stats, and you think Coach Julian SHOULD be taking your advice because you've got all the answers? I'm beginning to think that you're actually a powell or central fan in disguise.
  12. Ultimately, it is the head coach who would make that call. But generally speaking, a passing play is harder to execute than a running play, therefore, if we're going to even going to be able to run the "simple" passes that people have talked about, they'll need to be practiced more. I used simple in quotation marks because from the games that I've been to in the last few years, the Halls passing attack is about as simple as it gets already.
  13. Is that not coach ward who coach williams has been talking to before everyplay on the sidelines since the sevier co. game? Also, could you please have someone else edit your posts before you hit the submit button. You're not exactly showing that the Halls schools have given you much of an education.
  14. So let me get this straight... First, coach ward retires and coach julian promotes two coaches from within who have been running and coaching this same system for the last three years. Then, he allows the new OC to change the system for no apparent reason? Then, when it's not working, coach julian just allows it to continue hoping it will improve? That sounds crazy to me. I'd say your sources who are "in the know" don't Know much. Why don't you ask the new RB coach?
