  1. Dang, this is actually pretty civil so far and that is good. A lot of good points have been made. I'll agree with duck that if this was played in the first couple weeks, we would have more than likely been mercy ruled. The past few weeks though the Rebels have matured a bunch and are looking like the Rebels of the past few years. Most are not going to give us a chance this week, especially after the Stangs beat Milan but I think they will get more than what most expect. The kids are starting to come of age each week. Another point I'll agree with is coaching. Both have some great coaching staff and whoever can pull that little extra something will be a big determining factor. Comer has a tendacy to play the Stangs well so that to will help Friday night. And keying on Vinson will help the Stangs offense but trust me when I say #40 is a pretty good dang LB as well. He'll be all over the place every down. Our D is the strong point so I see this being fairly low scoring. Being from McKenzie of course I'm going to say we pull out a close one. Just hope as the others have said, all stay healthy.
  2. Yea and my offspring took care of that for me the last 4 I'm even now.....
  3. Oh yea, it's coming. We hear it every year........ Sometimes it just takes good things a little longer to perfect
  4. Only one I would say could be in the 12 would be Humbodlt. Their pretty dang good and could beat a couple on the list IMO. I see a few that could very well be bringing a gold ball west. Strongest IMO would be of course Henry County, Lexington, Humbodlt and Huntingdon (best shot here). Several will have some say so in it all before all is said and done though.
  5. Good ole butchie is back........he's gonna give them well you know what I'm gonna say
  6. 1st time, I saw the parade as a little excitment from the team but after that I agree it was overkill. After the years of being taken to the wood shed, they get a little carried away at times. IMO, we are at the point of two great football teams battling it out annually and should be just that. I look for this year to be another battle, more so than the past few. We will earn the win if we can get it but that is going to be a tough road Friday night. The Stangs are rolling this year and we are beginning to come of some age. Just hope we can peak this week because we will need it.
  7. Oh and way to represent our weak district Lions. Congrats on the victory and keep it rolling.
  8. Looks like I knew more than you think, wouldn't you say......
  9. With a comment like that, you should have stayed off the T. Evidently you don't know much about this area and football...... Dresden wins this one 35-7, mark that in your book.
  10. It all depends on what offense shows up Friday. If the Humb offense shows up then yes I say mercy rule in the 4th. If not, well it could be a Bulldog game once again. Either way, the defense will keep the Tigers in check.
  11. After the Humboldt game, I see nothing but upside the rest of the year. No more excuses after last Friday night. They showed what they are capable of on both sides of the ball. The young is wearing off and by now should be ready for what ever lines up in front of them. Like Duck said though, they got to get out of this mentality of playing the level of competition each week. We need to show out on offense to get that edge we have been lacking. With the defense we have and Comers game plan ability, we are going to keep opponents points to a minimum. Offense should get to rolling the next few weeks which will make us deadly once again....
  12. Prayers from McKenzie. Hope all is well with the coach.
  13. #'s 13, 33, 40, 2, 21, 17 for Mck #'s 41, 75, 32, 9 and a couple more but just don't remember the numbers for Humb That make you feel any better
  14. I never said you should not voice your opinion in any of my post. Everyone has the right to say and do as they please so by all means, say what you like. I guess my original post suggested it otherwise and in a derogatory manner which was inappropriate on my behalf. So accept my apology for that. I took it upon myself to step in on something I should have overlooked. We just normally stay away from each other’s threads until that one Friday a year we meet. I have tried to post on Stang threads before and was treated like I treated you so my response was I guess in retaliation from the past. I have family in Huntingdon so I to have no hatred other than football. It guess that to might be inappropriate for my age but I can live with that. I have an opinion as well on how success is handled but I'll leave it alone because we will never see eye to eye. Until we met in a few weeks, good luck on the games before hand. I for one hope you are undefeated on that Friday night we met.
  15. OK, last time. Congrats on the win, it was a great ballgame from both sides. You can brag the rest of the year that you beat us. It is all well and good, you deserve it. And a lttle thought on the D that made us look bad, well I would not goes as far to say that because (just so you now I'm laughing right now) that was the best performance we have had all year. Kicking our butts, not so sure on that one either. From the stats, it looked pretty even to me but again you won. And yes, I have enjoyed the games I have been to this year. I love my Rebels and I love high school football period. Your not all I have seen so don't feel to honored on my presence. I'll more than likely attend more good games in this area as well. My only regret so far this season is going to JB and watching that performance. A little disappointing but did get to met some good people so that alone made it worth the drive. Now that I have said that, I will sleep better tonight since my breathing as slowed back to normal, whatever the heck that means. Good luck the rest of the season and hope you win out while all stay healthy.
  16. Just hang with me on this, I'm going to respond to each of your comments in order: 1st-I didn't say you were not going to improve anywhere in my post, but you better and I'm sure you will 2nd-for your sake I hope so and we will do the same 3rd-Can not answer that question, I wasn't coaching last night 4th-I didn't see the O line having any problems but the play calling was a little suspect to say the least. Hopefully it will expand beyond only hitting the corners 5th-I haven't seen one person from McK that said that was your A game. Most did not have a clue to what the Vikings had to offer, just what they had heard from others 6th-I hate to say it but that is what you have. You are one dimensional and you know it or at least you will not admit it. That will win you a lot of ballgames but it will not win you the big prize when you met quality teams in the playoffs. You will have to expand some to advance beyond the third and semi final rounds 7th-I have seen 3 of your 5 games so I think I know what the Vikings have 8th-Again, I did not say that was your best game, just looked like the same I have seen before. examples are JB and Milan and finally, yes you got the win and congrats. No one on here has said that you were bad. In fact if you look at my past post, I said it was going to be very difficult for us to win and it would take our best effort which I think was so far this season. Good luck the rest of the way and until we do met again keep on winning.
  17. LOL, It'll be fun and ole butchie should be back to form by then. Just can't leave well enough alone. We might and I say might not win in the grass but I will gaurantee with the rednecks we have over here in McK, they will lose on the T.
  18. If you want to get in a pissing contest, that's fine with me. Years past it was common practise for us to stay off each others threads since we are all such good pals. Public thread it is, but as soon as one of us gets on your boards, it's like a bunch of middle schoolers whinning over their lost girlfriend. You would know that if you would have been on here the past few years. Duck brought up that he was glad his grandkids played for someone other than Huntingdon. Nothing negative, just stating a fact. I'd be proud to if I were him. I'd rather be 0-40 during my school career than play over there. Most of your Stang fans would more than likely say the same thing regardless of your great storied program across the creek. You can do what ever you'd like in going where ever you want. Last I heard this was free country and that brings up the point of joining the T in 2008. I grew up here in McKenzie and took many arse whoopings from them. I left in 1986 for the military and spent 20 years defending this great country. Once retired, I moved back home, which just happened to be around 2008 so my kids could have a great education and be with family they were never around. That just happened to be the timeframe we were putting it to you. I had one on those teams that can say they never lost to the Stangs. Few can say that, but I have one so I will be proud for him. So in short for just you my great neighbor across the creek. I joined when I did after serving this great country so people like you could enjoy your freedom. We soon will have our time together, just be patient and it will come that I promise. But again, stay over on your threads and let us do ours because you don't want us crashing in the rest of the way. The more we are apart, the better it will be until we met in a few weeks and we both better leave it at that....
  19. Stay on your boards chump. I see it takes the stangs to finally be winning again before you joined the T. Congrats, makes you look like a true Stangs follower.
  20. Don't take this the wrong way because I know the Vikings have a great team, but C game. I'm going to disagree with you because I have seen them play before last night and they seemed the same to me. A lot of what you thought was sub par, the Rebels made it look that way. A couple of busted plays in the first by the Rebels that allowed the long runs and it would have been different as well, although you are not going to admit that I assume. IMO and I think a lot of others on here will admit, if we had thrown a little more, you'd been in serious trouble last night. You have a hard time defending the pass and I'm not basing it on that one long pass you claim shouldn't have happened. We dropped several wide open passes because of the lack of coverage. The flats and middle were WIDE open all night but was not utilized by the Rebels. In the games I have seen Humb, that has happened often. Your secondary is the weak point, admit it or not. A good passing offense is going to hurt them somewhere along the way, mark it down. Plus your offense is to one dimentional, running sweeps and pitches right and left is just not going to cut it against a good defensive and well coached team as you saw. There is no balance attack with your O. To predictable and as the season wears closer to the playoffs, teams such a McKenzie is going to make it difficult on you, wait and see. Again, I'm not taking anything away from last night because the Vikings won. No excuses on my behalf, we lost. Congrats and hopefully we will see you down the road again. In my book, we are even from last year as well....
  21. Duck I understand your commitment to the grand kids. Sure wouldn't want to be in your shoes on Friday nights.... You missed our best game of the year IMO. It was a match-up of two very good defenses. Other than the first qrt, the Rebels held them in check. 1st qrt is were the Vikings did the most damage and it was on couple long runs. For the most part, we did what we always do on defense. With it 13-13 and less than a minute, Luke was hit as he threw the ball and it was tipped in the air about 40 feet. Came down in a Vikings hands with nothing but green pasture in front of him. In fact, he probable ran 20 yards to catch it for the pick 6. Could not happen again in a million tries. No fault of anyone, just pure luck he was in the right spot at the right time. If you ask me, I think Comer was going for overtime were he thought our best chances of winning would be. I just got that feeling with the way we were running plays and the speed in which we were doing it. Personally, I think that would have been the best bet as well with the way we were running the ball and the way our D was holding them. Regardless, Humbodlt got the win and we move on to another week of preparations. The Rebels represented well tonight and should be proud of their performsnce regardless of the outcome. I know I was, that's for sure. Coach Bland's comments were on 96.5 from Brandon Shields of the Sun. I would imagine it will be in the paper tomorrow so keep an eye on it.
  22. Congrats Lions on the win. Looks like you didn't get treated like we did in a SCRIMMAGE were they ran and threw all over us with something like 270 yards passing..... Couldn't resist because that was just one of the dumbest quotes I have heard on the T in awhile. Way to represent the district well..
  23. I'm gonna start my response to tonights game with a Dan Bland quote I heard on the radio "that was one heck of a football game for the fans, teams and coaches. But I will say this, come playoffs I do not want to do this again." I think the Rebels earned some respect tonight from a lot of people that had doubts. My hat goes off to the Vikings. Coach Bland has made Humboldt a excellent football program and you can see that in the kids that play for him. I salute you Vikings on the sportsmanship and attitude that you represent there. Good luck the rest of the year and hopefully we can get another shot in the playoffs. Rebels, I will be the first to apologize for what doubts I might have represented during the week. I knew you had the talent but was in the struggle mode for the first several weeks. Tonight was a great overall performance once you woke up in the late 1st qrt. You guys showed A LOT of people what you are made of. That defense was just lights out in the second half. To hold the Vikings to whatever little yardage they had after the first qrt is a lot to be proud of. You will represent us well the rest of the year and like I said before, come playoffs you will be a force to reckon with. I'll say it now, MCKENZIE WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ON WHO GOES TO COOKEVILLE OUT OF THE WEST, that I promise. Proud of guys tonight..........
  24. alright logger, take it easy on my Rebels. I'd hate to load up and come to JB again with the big guy
