    275 Region 3

My son wrestles 275 for McMinn Central,, He did lose while leading the first match of the year to the wrestler from Cookville. Then he lost later in the season to the wrestler from Cleveland. His record for this year is 27 wins and 4 losses, with 18 pins. I dont think thats bad for a person that didn't wrestle in highschool last year and is in a school that dosent have a place for their wrestling team to pratice. In fact the team only can pratice three nites a week. What kind of record does the others have? Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 1-23-03 1:28P]
  6. Igo4it,, I belive they are down to 4 wrestlers and one of those is hurt. I do not know how they have been doing. Michael Morelan
  7. Sly,,, The problen in McMinn is the lack of support from the schools and other coachts. Students now belive that if they do one sport they should do that all year and not "waste" time on others. My kids wrestle at Mcminn Central and we have the same problens. Central doesnt even have a place for the Centrals team to pratice. In McMinn County two different groups are starting summer wrestling programs.. One is junior Cherokees and the other is McMinn Unified. Both of these groups welcome kids from any where in the county. Stoika is a good coach, Offer to help the program at McMinn. Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 1-20-03 9:37P]
  8. It is apparent to all that one of the best teams in the state will not be at the "DUALS". Region 3 has several teams that if the school was in another region they would be in the "DUALS". What would be the loss if two teams from each region could wrestle in the "DUALS"? Or have another way of selecting two "wild" teams. Last week Bradley won over Cleveland. But if one pin had went the other way, Cleveland would have won. Both teams are great. The object is to wrestle not set at home. No, my children does not wrestle for eather of the programs. Michael Morelan
  9. Ian lost to Hampton. Also he did not wrestle in school last year. thanks Michael Morelan
  10. Silverbullet, Thanks for the intrest in Ian,, he is 21 wins, 2 losses. He lost the first match to the Cookeville wrestler and the other loss is to the wrestler from Cleveland. He did have 21 wins in a roll. We will be at Boyd Buchanan this weekend and lets see how he does. Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 1-7-03 1:06P]
  11. Watch the young man wrestling 275.. He cant be over 210 lbs and is very fast. I don't know where he will wrestle next year but if he wrestles where he should be, he will be the man to beat in that class. Michael Morelan
  12. I was asking about Bates weight because I belive his first match he was very close to not making the 275 limit. As for being afraid ,,, no. What is Bate's record so far? Michael Morelan
  13. Rebel Raider,, didn't your 103 forfit two matched at the Seymour duals? One to Greenback and one to McMinn Central. Michael Morelan
  14. Is Bates haveing trouble making weight? Michael Morelan
  15. Chris49,, you do have a impressive team, and a coach that knows how to coach. But most of the teams you listed did not have a full squad, and most of those wrestlers didn't wrestle this summer. This does not take away from what the team has done, but its a long time to February. Michael Morelan see you Saturday
  16. In my opinion the more people that are involved in the sport of wrestling the more the sport will grow. Cheerleaders have families and friends. That is more support for the wrestling in a school. Then you have the little brothers and sisters of these cheerleaders that will be exposed to wrestling,(a indirect feeder program). Also it shows to the basketball group and the A.D. that wrestling has intrest outside the parents of the wrestlers. Bring on the cheerleaders and all who are with them. Michael Morelan
  17. I have Bradley at McMinn Central Nov 29th @ 2:00 P.M. is this the meet your talking about? Is my time incorrect? I belive Central had a basketball game @ 4:00 to 4:30 that afternoon. Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 11-27-02 10:07A] [Edited by morelanmn on 11-27-02 10:13A]
  18. McMinn Central wrestled Heritage last night. Heritage is well coached and looking good. Heritage is a young team (well looks young) and I belive the only weight they had open was 103. They will be getting more attention as this season goes on. Michael Morelan (if basketball people are so smart why do they wear TENNIS shoes?)
  19. Tim, we are taking this weekend off. I am crisp around the edges. The brackets last week was so bad they gave my money back (they said we had no one to wrestle). I wanted to see some wrestling and I soon spotted kids we wrestled the week before. After talking with 5 people and being told no by four of them it was discovered my wrestler was put in the wrong class and the class closed. The USA offical came to me and said a error was made, this was while as they called out the first place winner over the P.A. system. I was not a happy camper. My son did get to wrestle, two matches, 6 hours after we got there. Was this fair to any of the wrestlers in his class? My son was upset, the people he wrestled had all ready done there best and one kid said he had his metal and was done. Michael Morelan P.S. round robin is the only way to wrestle 5 or less. 20. We are back from the "Peach State Open" great school, but this meet wasn't ran very well. Several brackets were incorrect and they had way too many breaks. At one time the parents started to applause when we started to wrestle. Also it is very apparent that USA wrestling or Georgia hasn't come to grips with girls wrestling. I saw 3 young girls and two teenage ladies and the two teenage ladies wrestled themselfs, the younger girls wrestled where they should. The father of these girls said that USA hadn't made any thought to having girl wrestlers. On the good side it was a easy trip, easy to find, and there was 4 officials for each mat. Five mats were out in the morning session, four mats in the afternoon. Michael Morelan
  21. Today I was reading a thread on The Mat and a person named "Mobius One" was bashing AAU wrestling. I posted in the thread and later I went back and The Mat had removed the complete thread. I was surprised. Is this common? They had several good comments on AAU wrestling and USA wrestling. Update: All is going great in Georgia USA. Nice people, some good matches. It appears more wrestlers are there each weekend. On Nov.2 they have a meet in Canton called "The Peach State Open". I am still seeing the Alabama, and South Carolina wrestlers at the meets. Michael Morelan
  22. Bobmarley,, good question, the team my children will be on is in Region 3. We are not competive in that class but I enjoy the speed and the intensity the lighter classes have. Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 10-18-02 11:42A] [Edited by morelanmn on 10-18-02 11:57A]
  23. HBK thanks. Region 3 is important to me. I also have a interest in Region 2. We were not able to wrestle highschool last year and I am not up to speed on all the kids in all the classes. We did go to Mr. Miller's at Cleveland some this summer, like always he has class and had his doors open for all. Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 10-18-02 8:45A]
  24. Who is the wrestlers to watch this year in 103? Michael Morelan
  25. The director of AAU wrestling in Tennessee ask for suggestions to inprove wrestling in Tennessee. What do you think will inprove the sport in Tennessee. He has offered support in helping teams set up there own tournament for us without all the tools and knowledge. Remember what your mother said, " if you cant say something good,,, shutup" Here is a few I thought of a. Fall (pre season)Tournaments b. AAU Tournaments on the same day in different parts of the state..ie Sevierville and a Nashville area school the same day. c. A interstate I-65 region,, (yes, all people from top to bottom of Tennessee around that major hwy. d. A west Tennessee group. Thanks Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 10-11-02 3:00P] If you want to contact AAU wrestling direct the E-Mail is SEAAUWRESTLING@aol.com [Edited by morelanmn on 10-14-02 9:28A]
