  1. I watched a couple Lenoir City games and they seemed good...shot a lot of 3's. Oak Ridge looked athletic...lots of pressing and fouls Bearden seems down. Carter appeared to have a solid player not a lot of structure. Karns is still young but seem better. anyone seen West, Catholic,Fulton, or Halls? Catholic went to Tennessee Tech's camp last week. Started slow but got better as the week went on. Size still an issue for the Lady Irish but their guard play will be the strength of the team. They will play at Shelbyville's team camp. Shelbyville Observations Lenoir City:they were very up and down...played hard at times and played down during others....if the girls can get it together they will be tough...had a great game against Dyersburg Catholic: really small can't score much and not a lot of offensive identity..the girls play hard though Farragut: looked very strong at camp was told by a parent they only lost two games (mt. juliet and Dobyns Bennett)
  2. Any local teams look good at camp? How is Lenoir City looking? Heritage, Lenoir City, and Webb have had camps, who are the best teams?
  3. Coach Wright is a great coach, thats why its surprising that he would give up on college and go back to HS after investing so many years. Maryville College has historically been a stepping stone for some coaches to move up and I thought thats what he was going to do. With that said..so way does he come here to the LC..my money is on Seymour.
  4. Todd Wright would be a good hire for both schools, but why would he leave Oliver Springs for college and be successful at two college stops just to return back to High School? and not like dream high school positions. Interesting
  5. Who is the new coach going to be? What are the rumors? Summer is right around the corner lets here whispers!
  6. I have lived in Knoxville the last 30 years and i can't remember one in the last 15, its always Bearden or Maryville.
  7. I have heard that Joe Lee has stepped down at Lenoir City. Is this true?
  8. Sounds like an official talking. That whole attitude of "Girls basketball is awful" is what the officials are showing on the court, they totally act like they could care less. How about you tell that to some of the girls who give all they have on a nightly basis that they are awful. I am associated with Lenoir City and we held the District tournament. Our head girls coach was livid that the officials association only sent one crew for 2 girls games, while they sent a separate crew for each individual boys game. That sends a great message.
  9. With the district tourney right around the corner are there any surprises, disappointments thus far.
  10. You totally mistook my post... The Farragut post is awesome! I was just saying that it looks like the team already goes to her a lot on their fast break and half-court sets from the games i have seen. That's why for a player to win Soph of the year the team has to get her a lot of touches. Any school that gets her will be lucky.
  11. Isn't the Farragut post the Sophomore of the year? Wouldn't she need to get a lot of touches to win that? Every time i have seen Farragut play LC they throw the ball inside almost too much (forcing it in) Just an Observation. Has anyone actually seen or heard about a Maryville scrimmage with their new post?
  12. How is the Meadows and new classification thing working out for Catholic?
  13. We'lll see. Agree that top four in the district this year would be a tall order, but they will be better. They are already improving it seems ... they went from being "not good" to possibly moving ahead of LC and maybe beating West and Bearden once each in two posts. Actually, I believe they are deeper than West and should beat them twice. West's point guard will be the most athletic player on the floor and the big post will give them some trouble, but overall I think Blount has more weapons. We'll see. You could very well be right. That's what we'll play the season for, isn't it? I agree with some previous posts 1. I think that William Blount will surprise a couple of teams, they have really great guards 2.. however, WB is really small and any team with a Post player is going to exploit them, like Maryville, Farragut, Bearden, and i wouldn't leave LC out of the equation, the Brown Girls is a load, and we all know about Patterson 3. another poster talked about the Farragut coach being i think "even tempered" i think thats well put i watched them in the district and the team seemed prepared and never got frazzled 4. Heritage is going to miss Maples....Burnett and Morris better be dropping or its going to be long nights 5. I think its about time Marryville got it Done! No excuses anymore 6. This District is wide open its maryville, then everyone else 7. Fowler and WB had done a a good job bringing the young girls a long and calming down
  14. Same post from the Boys side...a lot of graduation, and new teams to the district Pre-Season Ranking suggestions 1. Maryville 2. Heritage 3. Farragut 4. Bearden 5. Lenoir City 6. William Blount 7. West 8. Catholic With the possible addition of Maples it makes Maryville the favorite. However, 2-7 is very fluid with Heritage having experience on their side. The rest of it can go either way a lot of parity..sleeper team is William Blount. The only sure thing is Catholic at 8
  15. Nonexistent validity? I am definitely not a High School Hoop GURU like yourself but ill share my logic. 1. Lenoir City: Returns Tyler Hood cannot be guarded one on one, Dylan Powers deadly outside shooter, those guys are surrounded by a group of shooters who have been playing a lot the last couple years. To me that equals stability which counts for a lot...New Coach was a former assistant who won't change things too much 2. Bearden: Lost a couple of players to graduation and transfers so its hard to get a feel for that they have coming back, however Im giving their athletes the benefit of the doubt 3. Maryville: They lose Click and Reynolds, and Eldridge is a great coach but you need talent and Im not sure what they having coming back Catholic: will be scary because they are new and really tall West: can make a strong push because they are super athletic and Kessler is an awesome coach Farragut: Will be the smallest they have been in 10 years, how will they adjust? William Blount: don't know a lot about them however, when i had them at 7 it wasn't like a basement 7 they can sneak up on some people seem very scrappy The whole point being its WIDE OPEN and going to be really interesting!!!
  16. With a lot of coaching and transfer changes settling down lets predict the teams My Opinion 1. Lenoir City 2. Bearden 3. Maryville 4. Catholic 5. Farragut 6. West 7. William Blount 8. Heritage *i think 3-6 can fall either way *
  17. Im sure their was no recruitment action that caused her to move to Heritage. If you are recruiter you can't get mad when someone beats you at your own game. Maryville just happened to "Out-Heritaged" them on this occasion. I thought recruiting was just for the private schools like Webb, CAK, and Catholic, even though the last two are technically "public"
  18. Can a girl just transfer from Heritage to Maryville? Doesn't she have to move to be eligible without sitting out a year?
  19. I watched a couple of games and Lenoir City looked young but had talent. I agree that Heritage looked strong Farragut looked good Anderson Co. looked Down Gibbs needs Mills to score 30 a game to be competitive Jeff. Co. Looked good
  20. Any scores? Did any teams or players look especially good/bad? Any suprises?
  21. Ohhh I am shocked!!! AAU is the true path to basketball greatness!! Im sure these girls are going to be awesome to coach when they get to high school with attitudes that AAU is the only place they will get "real Coaching" We live in sad sad times....I truly miss the days when AAU wasn't Nirvana
  22. I am very disappointed...that was a top rated joke using Kwame Brown and you turn it into a money issue (somehow deciding to insult me) and jumping to defend the great Kwame Brown while all the while insinuating that i was making a comparison to a middle school kid that i have never seen play. I think your whole response to that Link speaks for itself...RELAX its basketball....It was a joke!!.. have a sense of humor! Very Sad Just to show that i am not biased http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/nikebasketbal...ayer=ryan_bowen (PS. I am aware that Ryan Bowen has made more money in the last 20 minutes that me or my entire extended family will make in our entire lives..so we can skip that one and move forward..thanks though....does anyone have some spare change?)
  23. My argument for your comment is this http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/nikebasketbal...yer=kwame_brown Case Closed!!!
  24. You added South Doyle and they are going to be the cupcake easy victory in the other district. However, thats what Catholic is for, I am excited they are in our District because thats a definite win for the LC. I say Catholic doesn't win a game in the district.
  25. Ill try to find out the name of this girl with all the talent thats getting wasted...and whenever she makes a mistake or shoots and misses ..ill come on here and call her a ball hog and not a team player.....OHH WAIT why would I want to do something like that and attack a high school girl?...that would make me an insensitive bully...I think ill just keep my mouth shut and criticize the adults and let the girls play and enjoy being kids.
