  1. Epperly is quite a QB. His receivers run very good routes and have tremendous hands. Thier O-Line is solid and with the QB getting the ball so quick, it is hard to get pressure on the QB.
  2. Pigeon Forge host their Summer Duals the first week of June. The next week we host the Southeastern AAU S. Wade Schalles camp, with a few special instructors including Josh Lambrecht, 3x NCAA All-American and current coach at UTC. The rest of the Summer will include the camp at King College; the Grundy, VA wrestling camp. Also, we have about 13-15 of our Pigeon Forge wrestlers on the Tennessee Pride Freestyle Club team, so we have several tournaments that they are going to and hopefully we will have a few qualify for JR Nationals.
  3. Trent Watson of Pigeon Forge took 2nd. I was told that 6 or 7 of our Middle School guys with TeamTN that went up there placed.

  8. The session will begin at 5:30 and will go until 8 to 8:30. We have about 30 wrestlers in our Freestyle club so any wrestlers planning on attending, who are not part of our club, please let me know so we can put the additional mats needed set out. Currently we have 3 mats down and we have 2 others that we can set up.
  9. The reason your email bounced back was because the person who posted that message spelled my last name wrong. That person was....me. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO: darrelllauderdale@sevier.org.
  10. Team Tennessee did a good job at this years duals. From the matches that I saw. each kid seem to fight really hard against some GREAT competition! Congratulations to all the Coaches, Parents, and Wrestlers who traveled with the team and or allowed their kid to comptete for Tennessee in this National Event. It will make a difference in your wrestlers future! It was awesome to watch kids from Tennessee going toe - to - toe with kids from Iowa, PA, IN, GA, and Ohio to just name a few. 2nd year in a row that Tennessee knocked of the Iowa Gold Team! It was a very good win coming off a tough loss to GA Black.

  16. The 2010 Smoky Mtn Duals held at Pigeon Forge High school has had to change the dates of the event due to the new school schedule adopted by our school board last week. The Varsity Duals will take place on Dec. 22-23. The FR/JV Tournament will be held on Dec 21. For further info please contact Darrel Lauderdale: darrelllauderdale@sevier.org More news concerning the Duals: We have just received committments from 3 new teams for next year. One from Western PA, Franklin Regional. 2 from FL, they are Manatee HS and Palmetto Ridge HS. Its going to be a great event!
  17. My understanding is that the powers that be want to have "proof" of how establishing a division for small schools will lead to the growth of the sport. Well, why not speak with coaches in GA, NC, and VA and get their input. Its been done there so they would have insight to just how the change made an impact. those who support the idea and who are heading up the cause need to contact some of these coaches and find out from them. Then at the next meeting when this is brought up again some insight to the proposed change can be shared.
  18. I too believe the people involved in the set-up and running of this event deserve a big THANK YOU! Wonderful job by all. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE who I had to deal with, in admission, concessions, parking, etc were very, very FRIENDLY! They made me feel like they really were grateful for me and our team for being there. At UTC the last couple of years, the UTC hired help made me feel like they resented the fact that I was there. The venue: I liked the open space and the walkway around the top was good because we could move around and never lose sight of wrestling. The championship mat set-up was good. If they would have moved both mats in the center, then those people seated in the horseshoe areas could not see the mats very well. I had no problem paying $5 to park. We had to do it at UTC. It was nce to park just outside the venue without having to park a mile away and hop a shuttle to get there. My concern from the get go was seating. This wasn't a propblem since the numbers were down this year. I believe the numbers will improve if the this venue remains the site. Could there have been more light? Yes Was it so dark that it made it hard for me to watch wrestling? No. Now it would have been nice for the wrestlers to have a dressing area/locker room but maybe plans are already underway to address that issue.
  19. I wish Coach Morgan nothing but the best! Several years Coach Morgan allowed me and my wrestlers to come down and practice with him and his team over Christmas. He taught me and my wrestlers alot and I will be forever grateful to him. He and Coach Van Deusen worked with my guys as if they were Baylor wrestlers. Thank You for all your help and your friendship Coach Morgan! I will never forget it. Darrel Lauderdale
  20. The plan is to improve the technological opportunities for our students in as many classrooms as we can. Unless the club is taking members based on back and leg hair, I will not be joining that club any time soon.!!
  21. JUST WANTED TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU, USING MY CHRIS VANDERGRIFF FONT (ALL CAPITALS), TO ALL OF YOU WHO HELPED SEYMOUR HIGH SCHOOL WIN A $100,000 CASH PRICE FROM U.S. CELLULAR, FOR FINISHING IN THE TOP 10 IN THEIR "CALLING ALL COMMUNITIES" CONTEST! SEVERAL OF YOU PICKED UP CARDS AND AND/OR VOTED FOR US! THANK YOU AGAIN!
  22. Like every tournament, there are things that could be done to improve the event. Coach Blair and crew probably made notes and listened to suggestions that were made and will do what they can to improve things. They are going to be very busy this week with the planning, logistics,a nd coaching their teams.
  23. I agree, there are no excuses for the State Individual tournament not being a double elimination. Hopefully the TSSAA will make the right change for next year.
