  1. Look on va challenge website and contact Frank Lipoli
  2. Congratulations to Don. I have observed him teaching, coaching and modeling good sportsmanship as he refs. Well-deserved honor.
  3. Top 2 in my book are: Don Elsie John (from Soddy)
  4. That's great. Nate is a very powerful speaker. He normally does the Sunday morning service at the Virginia Challenge tournament and very clearly connects his faith, his wrestling success and challenges to the wrestlers.
  5. I'm with Ghouse, also. Why the drive for even dispersion across the weight classes? Is our population made up of even dispersion?
  6. Another example of why wrestling isn't growing in Knoxville. There was limited communication regarding this event. It could have been much more.
  7. cbg, I don't think the "best wrestlers" in TN did compete on Team GA. I think the TN coaching staff did an excellent job compiling the best TN team with TN kids that wanted to wrestle. Now, as far as Eli King wrestling for Ga, you'd have to ask him.
  8. Congratulations to Team TN as they finished 4th in the Silver Bracket (12th out of 21 teams) at the National Elementary Duals amongst the best teams in the country. Saturday's results included wins against Michigan and Florida and losses to Indiana, Illinois Inferno and Pennsylvania Blue. Sunday's results included a win against Indiana Blue and losses to PA White and GA. Individual accomplishments included 5 medalists for Team TN: Nicholas Boykin (undefeated for the weekend), Jack Braman, Jacob Brown, Trey Ashby and Judah Duhme. Thank you to Coaches Sutherland, Frederick, McNelly and Reiniche for their time and effort with the kids this weekend.
  9. After 2 matches, Team TN is still in the hunt for the gold bracket. They lost their first match against GA Black (48 - 27) as they came out flat. Bouncing back in their 2nd match, they defeated Iowa Gold (36 - 34) with some hard-fought matches. Day 2 matches will include the best elementary teams in the country. Team Illinois, Team Michigan, Team Pennsylvania and Team Indiana.
  10. http://sitemason.vanderbilt.edu/news/re ... ded.109873 Questions will be taken by the panel after a presentation. It appears that their stance is that Title IX is working fine and doesn't need any reform.
  11. Texas' neighbor of Arkansas, a state which has about 50 high school wrestling teams (around none of which existed several years ago) will soon add yet another college wrestling team: http://www.cbc.edu/news.aspx?id=3431 Months ago we also learned of the following college there adding our sport, too: http://www.themat.com/section.php?secti ... leID=21194 Here's that school's athletic dept: http://athletics.obu.edu Meanwhile, here's some background on the catalysts making wrestling grow so quickly in Arkansas: http://www.flowrestling.org/videos/spea ... n-arkansas http://www.ArkansasWrestlingAcademy.com It helps to have a neighbor like Oklahoma, just as it's helped Virginia and Maryland having neighbors like Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Might other small schools be watching that have club programs linked here: http://www.ncwa.net/teams http://www.ncwwa.net/teams

As many of you know, the NFHSA is considering eliminating the 103lb weight class. Attached are links to the proposed new weight classes and a petition to the National Federation of High School Associations. (FYI...you can sign the petition and submit comments and then cancel out of the donation option). 13. If you are snowed in or just looking to watch some good wrestling, one can view the National college duals for FREE this weekend, on http://www.LiveSportsVideo.com
  14. Congrats to Cole Holloway for finishing 7th in MS 95 lbs.
  15. Great. Thanks, GHouse. I've got one that's itching to get back on the mat.
