  1. Yeah, that first punt was...60 yards or something crazy like that? That was insane! Other than field goals, their kicking was amazing.
  2. I think some folks have lost sight of an important fact: Last year MUS scored 3 TDs and SP scored 3 TDs. The game came down to a missed extra point (and subsequent 2 pt conv). MUS will most likely never see the talent they had last year, and honestly, they squeaked out the win against SP. MUS is very well-coached and Alston knows how to succeed at high school level football. Overall, I just don't think MUS is in the same class as SP and most likely never will be. A 70 point thrashing might have finally brought well-intentioned MUS fans back to a sobering reality check. I respect MUS. And I respect SP. MUS ain't no SP!
  3. CBHS: Chris Walker (UT) Patrick Ligon (Kentucky) John Goode (S. Illinois) Jonathan Brown (Illinois) Corey Acosta (S. Miss)
  4. Senior QB is hurt, but I actually think their junior QB was going to start: 6'3", good arm, and can run (he ran for 2 TDs against Southwind); he can also throw on the run which will open up some shorter yardage plays. The RB who was hurt is a non-starting sophomore. Their senior RB is fine; junior RB is working back in; and a small freshman may get some carries. Best senior WR is hurt, but a senior transfer should pick up most of the slack. Neither of the 2 senior injuries are serious; not sure about the sophomore RB.
  5. Good analysis; it's tough to tell from this type of scrimmage, especially since CBHS was working in non-starters, etc. to see what kind of depth they have and try some different players in different spots. First string scored 2 TDs and shut Southwind down. One of Southwind's TDs was off a long reception made a foot out of bounds. The CBHS secondary is somewhat in transition, although that was a nice pop by the safety. Jonathan Brown is missed on offense and defense, but I think their RBs can move the ball and Grant Powell looked good at QB. Southwind's QB did have some nice passes and their defense made some nice plays.
  6. Personally, I think Powell might have gotten the start over Zdancewicz -- 6'3" makes a difference compared to 5'9". However, I think Zdancewicz was injured and is having surgery and will be out for a while, so Powell will be getting the start. Powell got some good experience last year and threw 2 nice TD passes in the playoff loss to Brentwood.
  7. Grant Powell: 6'3" junior at CBHS. He moves well and has an excellent arm.
  8. Per TSSAA, MUS has 828 students. Christian Brothers has 1,778 CBHS has under 900 students...
