Stop it man… no excuses!!!! Next year they won’t have a choice when it comes to middle school state duals!! But my point is…Blackman was not mentioned and they have a dang good k-12 program in Tn!! If they have more numbers then they must be doing something right!!

Believe me …: I take nothing away from what Cleveland’s staff does but you started this as this Tx was going to start so as of now… Blackmon leads from tots, banter and midgets and you can’t even acknowledge them.
Will cleveland probably pull away…I would expect it but k-5… Blackmon leads!

Blackman has won the last two AAU Club State Titles. Bosken was on CoachT giving them props on this message board last year, so despite the poster, there is respect from their coaching staff.

I have been told by a former staff member and longtime friend that the 2 year playoff ban was a slap on the wrist had the TSSAA wanted to dig into the Dilfer years where violations were egregious.

Are the Admin that were employed when Dilfer and Mawae were head coaches and the, “alleged infractions,” took place still on staff at Lipscomb?

Is Mawae the only person at Lipscomb who “resigned,” during the Deuce situation or were there others? (I have not followed closely)

Technically they don't have to graduate early. They can continue to complete their high school work while taking a minimal course load at UT (or wherever they are enrolling early).

    Good info.

The plan for G-Mac and UT Coaching Staff is for him to be on campus in January of 2025 as a student at the University of Tennessee.

They are awful. Need to be put out of business. 5 minutes behind in D2 and this tourney. Couldn’t even find the actual finals.

Just got back from the Ag Center and just clicked on NFHS to watch the replay and it will not play?

    Done! Thank you, @oceansize42

What are you guys talking about.
He’s been making these claims for days, I’m not spinning it into anything.  I'm 100% calling his bluff and telling him he lying and doesn’t have a clue about what he’s talking about.

So before you guys chime in…make sure you get the full context.

I think you are lumping me into the wrong crowd or taking my comment out of context.

I have posted three times, and I said I had respect for HCWC, coaches should be paid, and that you made a great investment for your son and his wrestling future. My comment about the funding/donations was intended to say that the program had not been at a high level until the most recent staff took over and got all the kids in the area back in the wrestling room which you and your family (like many others) are benefitting from. It’s great for wrestling in the State.

You said I should ask for money…

go back and re-read, and I stated we do not want money, he loves wrestling for the red and blue.

The reason I keep specifically asking about my son getting money, is 100% about my son…I can’t speak for anyone else(although I know the answer).  How has the funding directly impacted him…that building hasn’t made him better, but that room has.  That building didn’t attract us to Cleveland, the coaches and partners did. Good kids bring more good kids.

You guys seem to be under the impression money has made these kids what they are, and I’ll never agree to that.  I invite you to a practice, stick your head in the room and see how hard these kids work and the skill level these kids are at. I mean many of our MS age wrestlers are National caliber kids, All-Americans left and right, they are reaping the fruits of their labor, plain and simple.  And they are only at that level because of how good the room is and how outstanding our coaches are. I hope the funding is taking care of our coaches!  They deserve every penny.

    Sir. Respectfully.

If you and your son are there for “coaching and partners,” (which I agree are top notch) it is because of the funding/money that was raised (and matched by a donor) that pay the coaches who went out and brought in the kids which they now teach, coach and motivate at a high level.

Your family is receiving those benefits due to the funding that paid the Club Coaches salary (Only 2-3 Clubs in the state do that). It’s a great investment by HCWC and you as a father to your son.

Like I mentioned in my first post in this thread, hats off and respect to how the program has evolved and rolling.

    I have no idea!!!

    I’m from Knoxville.
My son hasn’t received a penny.
    My son was NOT recruited.
I pay for every event we go to!

    I pay for travel!

    I pay for gear!

    I pay team fees!

and every single parent I know does the same, no exceptions.

This blanket statement that Jones funds the program therefore you’re only good because of it is beyond ridiculous.

For clarification, because every club across the state is different. Where does your $250-500 for the club season go if you are paying for gear, travel and every event? Does that go to coaches?

The HCWC wrestlers we currently have in our room would be just as good if we practiced in the basketball gym, at the middle school, or in the parking lot.  I’m grateful we have a wrestling room specifically for our wrestlers, but that’s not unique to Cleveland.  I would say virtually every school in the state shares this fine luxury you seem to think only Cleveland has.

So can you explain where all this money(you claim our wrestlers get) is spent?  Please Show me your proof.  If we pay for our own fees, our own gear, our own tournaments, and our own travel, then what’s left?

Hats off and respect to all programs, coaches, parents and local businesses that help raise money to support Wrestling in the State of Tennessee!  The sport is booming, and will continue to get better.

Do Club Programs have to pay to use the Wrestling Facility or is that donated by the school/city?

Do coaches run clinics in the facility and keep proceeds from clinics/camps from attendees, which is income or donated back to the Club Program?

How much are the Club coaches paid?  There are probably 2-3 Clubs that pay their coaches in the State of Tennessee.  (That # will increase in the future, and some of the coaches are doing a phenomenal job and have earned that pay-check for their Programs)

    Cost for Wrestling:
    AAU Card/Membership
    Singlet/Shoes
Travel to Tournaments (Entry fee for fans)

Summit is 2-1 vs Brentwood. They’re still CLEARLY above Brentwood and Father Ryan.

Did Ryan and Summit wrestle in any Tournaments other than the Drennan Tournament this season?

In that Tourney Ryan finished 3rd (without Tran and Lemaota), Brentwood finished 5th and Summitt 7th (without Demorest and Posey).

Had Baylor still had their 138 and 144 they wouldn’t have gotten beat by anybody in the state. Mccallie vs FR will be tight but I think Ryan pulls it out.

I know it is all hypothetical and we all enjoy the discussion of message board predictions, which are always fun, but even with Baylor’s 138 and 144 out, they could still win it all.

If I remember correctly, Joyner was up 7-3 and then got pinned in the third period by Cross (awesome match!). Baylor wins the Dual at McCallie if he finishes the match and they would have been the #1 seed. (I know. He lost. Baylor lost. I get it. McCallie earned the spot by wrestling great!)

It will be fun to watch on Saturday and I am not ready to count out Baylor just yet.

Ryan beats Baylor imo. Adding Rutherford should help keep Baylor in check but I’d imagine they’ll bump Bond down to 113 to pick up a win down low. Ryan needs 215 again and it was super close last time. Gonna be a fun one to watch.

Bond weighed in at 117 vs McCallie on Thursday night.

It will be fun to watch!

I was there, it was that close. Summit didn't get the bonus points they needed at weights they needed them and Nolensville did.

They needed a major at heavyweight to win the dual and got it.

Region 6 with Brentwood, Nolensville, Ravenwood and Summitt down the stretch will continue to be fun to watch.

I don’t think Mccallie beats Cleveland. And I still think Mccallie wins outright with the two that’s off the team now.

Are they in the process of appealing the schools decision or are they already gone?

Father Ryan will certainly have a good shot to win but please don't act as if they haven't had their own issues over the years.  It was just a few years ago that several of their guys had to leave for live-in-rehab.  News flash:  high school kids do stupid things, and it's getting worse not better with younger generations.

When was the last time Father Ryan won a traditional state tournament? You know, the one that concludes the season.

Wow, @BobCorker.  "Few years ago," and "several of their guys,."  What year and weights?

I’m figuring it to be Hart and Askew and it sucks for it to happen to anyone, hate to sing young men make bad decisions.  If so would they be allowed to go back to their home states and wrestle for state titles there?

Over the years of Baylor taking out of state transfers, have they wrestled for Team Tennessee in the off-season?  I know some of the wrestlers were only there between 1-4 seasons depending on what gap needed to be filled on the roster, so there was not necessarily loyalty for the State of Tennessee in some situations, which makes sense.

Rex is dodging Knox for a reason. And knowing he would get beat this year and Cleveland will be stronger next year than this. Baylor is smart but Knox would wrestle Baylor anywhere. I know now for sure Rex WILL NOT want a dual with Cleveland after what I know now as of today. ;)

Will you soon be posting a screenshot of a text sent from Knox that says, “Rex, you still up?”
