  1. This has been an Official Question from the Official Department of Redundancy Department.
  2. Mat Control ran the Tournament. Results: http://www.matcontrol.org/wrestling0910 ... y_Inv.html
  3. Any information on results for the Yellow Jacket Tournament last weekend at Lookout Valley High School? Thanks!
  4. Too bad some teams will not show. This was a great 2 day tournament with good competetion. Mat Control ran a good tournament with the internet information, brackets and updates. Does anyone else see the decline in well run local tournaments including the internet information available? It seems they are becoming fewer and less populated as we go.
  5. Looking for a link for McGavock Tournament info or any thing available. I see Mat Control is not doing it this year. Thanks!

My name is Walt Chandler and I am Kyle Chandler??™s father. I would like to add my oratory and opinion to this thread. I would also like to see your names as responders to this thread. It is very easy to hide behind an assumed identity and make comments. This I will not do. After all, the 145-championship match with my son and Camron Edafe has been made the center of this thread by someone and I have the right to respond. I have not posted any comments concerning Kyle in the past and will not in the future. I will make the comment now that Kyle works and trains very hard for his sports. He has wrestled with MLK since the seventh grade and has had much success. Only by hard work and good coaching has he enjoyed this success. My interest is in MLK wrestling and I enjoy watching the team and the sport. I was not the original poster of this thread; in fact, when this thread was first posted at 7:05 pm, I was working with Paul Bass and the MLK team to clean up after the tournament. It was a long day for all who worked, helped, wrestled and officiated at the tournament. My day started at 6:30 am until home at 9:30 pm. The tournament was well run by Bass, MLK and Paul Hambrick, mat problems in the beginning not withstanding. I agree with the comments that the original post was not in the right perspective and the subject should not have been presented in the way it was presented. The championship match at 145 was an exciting match. Edafe won with the final of 3-2. I am disappointed that my son did not win as Kyle is also. However, he did not win. Could Chandler have won? Well sure, if he had done this or that. Could Edafe have lost? Sure if he had not done this or that. A well-wrestled match by both wrestlers from two good teams determined by the mat and not by an official. Two very good wrestlers in an exciting match with both going to STATE! East Lit has a very good Coaching Staff and they have produced very good wrestlers. I have not met the Coaches personally but have heard positive comments about them. It takes time, effort and dedication to build a team and it has been done very well. All of the wrestlers have had to earn their spot on the team and the mat. Nothing has been given to them or the team except opportunity and expectations. Congratulations to Coach Whittaker as Region 7 Coach of the Year. He has worked long and hard for this. MLK is very lucky to have Paul Bass as a Coach and mentor. I have known Paul for many years and he has done so much for all of the students at MLK and many other schools. He also has worked hard for a quality MLK wrestling team. MLK is sending four wrestlers to the State Tournament this year. Way to go Bass! I have seen Mr. Garrett officiate many matches. He seems to call a good match and be aware of what is happening on the mat. I am a parent; I am not a referee or a coach so I cannot and will not comment to the negative. If there were calls to be made I believe the calls would have been made during the match. Now is not the time to make any calls. Mr. Garrett??™s son does not wrestle with East Lit currently and so by TSSAA rule there was no reason he should not have called this match. Unfortunately, his association with East Lit as a parent has come into question by the original post. Perhaps TSSAA should review this type of relationship and situation during Tournaments like this and determine the best way to avoid having questions come up after the fact. I do not have the opinion that this match was determined by any missed call or officiating. CoachF, keep in mind that not all parents react negatively, I would believe that very few do. Your comments in your post are of the same spirit of the person that started this thread. He made assumptions and conclusions and published them in an inappropriate manner and it seems you have also. Your comments are blindly directed at me. You do not know my son or me. I would like to see you focus your opinions and judgments at the original poster instead of drawing false conclusions as to who is responsible for this thread. I will see some of you at the State Tournament in Chattanooga. For those who I will not see there, wait until next year, the opportunity is coming! Go Bam Bam!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  8. DI is the division of interest. Is the TSSAA wrestling handbook online by chance?
  9. How are the seeds determineed and placed in the brackets for the State Tournament? I would like to understand the method or madness. Also, are the seed listings available to review? See you all at Chattanooga! Thanks!

Thanks for your insight Nununu. Your words are well spoken and true. Sometimes the recognition factor clouds the focus for the wrestlers. And us spectators. We all know that the mat is where it counts when it counts. And it is coming up soon! Congrats to East Lit and MLK for there trip to A-AA State Duals! Well done and good representatives for Region 7. EL has an opportunity to head up the bracket and wrestle for number one. MLK's first trip to Clarksville. Way to go Coach Bass! Your comment on MLK's lack of heavies is true. That has cost them some matches in the past and is a roadblock to success here. I forcast three matches each, just in different directions on the bracket. By the way, your Regional picks look good, quite the insight...

nununu - Thanks for your comments as always. Well, as far as young Burnley goes, do not take any thing away from him. The comment is a forward looking statement. As a sophmore, he is wrestling very well. He is focused, strong and wrestles a great match each period at a time. I see the wheels turning and the fluid movement that shows he is into the match and the process. As was stated, John Burnley is definately a force to be acknowledged in this region. He has the balance of this year and two more for us to watch and for you to buy into. Regionals will be good to watch and enjoy to be sure. You commented "It is not always about getting recognition, those of us in the region know about MLK. We know that Richard Jones..., we know about Kyle Chandler, Nick Johnson, and Andrew Lowe." Well, what do you, or what should we or the other guys know about these wrestlers and MLK? Your input is appreciated and valuable as I have always respected your comments. Thanks for your insight. dadbams

First of all John Burnley from MLK is a top notch wrestler at 140 lbs. He has already proven himself in the region by beating East Literature and other power house schools like Antioch. John Burnley is definately a force to be acknowledged in this region. Richard Jones, MLK 135 lbs, is also a great wrestler. I wouldn't be surprised to see this young man place at the state tournament this February. Other notables from region 7 are Andrew Lowe and Kyle Chandler, both from MLK. Post Region 7 stuff in this thread. It is all in one...

  17. What about the big college picture? Any info on Iowa, Michigan, etc? How would one get contacts and information on the big D1 schools and others with strong programs with scholarships? Thanks for the posts with all of this information!!!
  18. I downloaded the BGA Tour 2008.asx file just now at 472 MB. I upgraded to the Windows Media Player 11 as required and the notice comes up: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Any suggestions for us? Thanks for doing this!
