  1. We have several slappers and the coaches won't slap because when they played ball it was drag bunt........Slapping is too advanced......Just too many people coaching that are football coaches or basketball coaches....when I was in school mANY years ago there was not a coaching class on softball in my major just football and basketball. HAs that changed? and high school ball is just not that competitive....in many areas. Travel ball is 6 to 8 months with off season practice.....But the power houses now....they have some coaching. Hopefully it will get better. Just watch a small college on the computer and they get one on and then move the runners.....but parents still think a fly ball is a great hit so who can win????? Coaches arent paid enough for their time....and many are just expected to have a team. My hats off to the folks out there trying and who care. THere are so many free clinics to go to....I saw a coach calling pitches that would lame AN ALABAMA pitcher if she had th throw that continuously.....and he is considered a good one. It will cost him a big game....... amen! When you have two strikes choke up and skoot up and bunt if not making contcat or to move a runner.....simple it would seem....
  2. The Jackson Sun just listed the girls at SBW tourney.....and not the ones who left early.......I Milan, Westview, Dyerdburg and Dyer COunty are full of talent but I have not seen them play. Haywood Trista Rivers and Leah Taylor and Chelsey Shaw, Middleton Kalylee Thaxton, and Adamsville pitcher Dont know her name
  3. ANd I think the entire Munford team hahaha...They are a team. They shine and play as a team.......They slap hit and bunt as a team.....WOW!
  4. yEAH THE all tournament team were just the last ones in it.....the shortstop in Ripley and I didnt know her name was the best I have ever seen....WOW just a few games but she is awesome. the Northside girl is a ball player too. WHen you lose and someone notices you that is something......not that Ripley and Northdise are losers but we all hear the all state girls all the time.....I was way impressed!
  5. ......Summer is an awesome player...First Team SBW tournament....What an honor....She can pitch. That child can do it all. She runs like a lepard. I would think that would be a great thing.......MANY starting pitchers at high school do not pitch much for their travel ball team or at least start.....they play another position. THE WHOLE POINT FOR THIS. Travel teams NEED many girls that can pitch. Summer plays center and second and for the other one she played short and pitched if needed. Just thought SUmmer should be mentioned as well. She works HARD.I dont doubt Anna will be great. She like Lauren and Summer just have a few years to get there....to greatness. IVY BROOKE AND ELLEN can enjoy greatness now! My daughter is forced to catch for her high school but she plays short for travel.....we just dont have a catcher. The best catcher catches and she is not the best. Just the demon of the game.....She also bats 4th high school but not travel. Just a different game. Our ace pitcher travels and is the 4th pitcher on her travel ball team. Just be glad you have power on the pitching arena...most don't. GO Fillies! Relax Trinity will do well.
  6. Thay is what I was saying except I think that Anna will be good but not as good as Ivy next year...and then Ellen graduates.......only in single elimination tournaments........otherwise it is anyone's game. That's all......Summer Cross can pitch as well and she can basically so it all......Still......You will miss Ivy. That's a good thing.....not a bad one. Good luck in Riverdale......I guess SBEC and Trinty only west tn teams....
  7. Yep go to riverdale softball it is posted ...... I wasnt be defensive......tournaments different but sure with one other girl....Lauren Rydale creamed everyone in middle school but she is still young....and senior girls are just big.....and I am a biig fan.........but she isnt IVY ELLEN OR BROOOKE OR TOBIE and I do think she will be before it is over with......young girls make freshman mistakes....even Trinity freshman.
  8. It is my opinion that none of these girls are the caliber of pitchers that Ivy Ellen Brooke and toby and Tera were and are in their Junior and Senior Year.....therfore.....pitching will be weaker. It is a discredit to say that freshman girls can pick up where five major signed pitchers left off.........unless you are Ivy or Ellen at that age. If it happened everyday we wouldn't miss our All- Americans like riverdale. Two pitchers of that caliber are better than one and the odds of them going to same school is not great. They won;t want to share time. Sisters are different. COvington will have sisters next year. They will be young but still. It will help things a great deal. Travel teams have at least 3 big pitchers......to play in tournmantst otherwise it doesnt matter. One will do. You get rest. That's all I said. Not about the season. Not about the pitcher.....about single elimination tournaments with one ace pitcher is hard to win. Period....Brooke had to pitch all day. She was worn out. There wasnt another one of her to put in.....the others are not as experienced. THis was tourney talk not game for game. Game for game is a different ballgame. Its just strategy...not about young pitchers. Seniors are just stronger and smarter......that's simple. So ALL I SAID WAS IT WAS NICE TO HAVE TWO SENIOR JUNIOR PITCHERS SIGNED ......that wont change next year for these teams probably. Ivy and ELlen were not the norm.........which is what makes them so special.

    Pitching

The rule book has pictures of this. There has to be both feet on or one behind but not one to the side off the rubber. The jcs pitcher did that at Sarah Beth Whitehead game and Northside. When called not by an ump but a spectator, she could not correct it. If there is a RULE it should be followed otherwise take it our of the book.
  11. Most high school teams don't have the pitching to win a single elimination tourney. The games are so fast. Trinity is definitely fortunate to have two sisters that pitch. The other schools have their ace and then it's trouble in single elimination tournaments. That's a plus Trinity better appreicate this year as next year they will be in the same boat as others....except they will have one superb pitcher. It is still hard playing back to back games.......Huntingdon will go far. I saw their number 9 batter hit a homerun! I don't believe I have ever seen that in our score books. I know Covington and Ripley missed their ace pitchers.
  12. overtime.....1-0 IMO I think there are many great pitchers in the state of TN. Toby Joy did an excellent job. She should fair well. This seems to be an A board. No doubt the renfros will be strong in district. I think that like all teams wiht great pitchers hurts them when they get to state. Their team isnt use to fielding. No doubt Huntingdon 's Thomas has fewer strike outs, but more experienced players fielding. Just my humble opinion. Everyone doesnt have to agree. I think Ellen is the strongest pitcher at Trinity. I wish them all well but wish Huntingdon success in the end. I would have loved to have seen ANna pitch for the middle school. It is a problem with smaller schools and deciding what to do. She will have her time soon.
  13. Must be more West Tn folks on here. Friednshio and Forest girls look great. I have not seen the others. The Forest and Friednship programs are tough and impress me. Their coaching and the players. Just don't know them by name.
  14. I disagree Ivy is signed and Ellen is committed dont u think they should easily be able to shut down a young 1A team (forrest is great not meaning any desrespect to them at all.) i just would think girls that are supposed to go to a top school should be able to shut them down its not like they are competing against teams that have most of their starters going to D1 schools.
