  5. USJ’s Fesmire signs softball scholarship at Union Katie Beth Fesmire JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/23/2010 - Katie Beth Fesmire, a senior at the University School of Jackson, has signed to play her college softball for the Union University Lady Bulldogs. Fesmire will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in nursing or some other medical field. “Playing college softball has always been a dream of mine”, says Fesmire. “I am so excited to have that opportunity take place at Union University.” Fesmire, a 5-foot-4 catcher, prepped at the University School of Jackson where she played softball, volleyball and was a varsity cheerleader. Fesmire played five seasons of softball for head coach Brian Dunn. She was a three-time all-district player, twice named all-district tournament, twice named first team Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee and was co-captain as a junior and senior. She posted a .372 average with 78 runs, 69 RBI, 18 doubles, eight triples and nine home runs during her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. Fesmire helped lead her summer team to the Dixie Youth World Series championship game three times, including winning the title in 2008 and finishing runner-up in 2002 and 2007. During the summer of 2009, she was named the best all-around catcher at the Auburn (Ala.) University softball camp. Union head coach Heather Hall says, "We are thrilled to have Katie Beth join our family here at Union. She is an exceptional student-athlete who will excel both on and off the field. She not only has excellent work ethic and drive, but a sincere passion for the sport of softball. We could not have asked for a better start to our 2011 recruiting class." Dunn says, “What a great day for Katie Beth and the Fesmire family. It has been an honor to coach Katie Beth these last five years at USJ. She has grown so much as a player through her hard work on and off the field. I know good things are in store for her at Union.” Off the field, Fesmire was named to the All-Northwest honor choir five times, all-state honor choir as a senior and best actress and supporting actress roles in student plays. She was also the chaplain for the Film and Key Clubs. Fesmire is the daughter of Ben and Sherry Fesmire of Jackson. Her older brother Benjie is a freshman member of Union’s baseball team, while her younger brother Jordan is a sixth grader at USJ. #UNION#

Ect.... Would that work for you.

Look, both of these teams can hit. If not they would not be in the state c-ship game. Then you add a ump, (as you said) who was making them throw right across the middle of the plate. Well they should hit the ball out of the park , everytime. Sounds to me like the hit that won the game was a blop, just over the infield. Not a bad hit for a pitch that you said was being put on a tee for the batter by the ump. Then, you ask a 15 year old what he thinks 10 min. after he just lost the state on a blop hit. Give me a break. Its been three days and your still whinning about the umps strike zone. Just think what you would have said, if you had lost, and a reporter would have stuck a mike in your face, Great win, and you guys have a great team. Just get a clue about teenagers. Thanks

So he has a 20 year old arm. But remember he is still 15 or 16 years old. Young people say the darnest things
  10. Thats fine, But make sure the public schools charge them 5 to 9 thousand a year to attend. make sure mom and dad give 2 to 3 hours a week at the fields working. and make sure they have a ride to and from school. then all will be the same. My kids goes to public school.
  11. I know where Lip. is and the respect they get. I also know about the lights and why they do not have them. This started a few post up, when Thesolution said South Side/Lexington should plan their graduation around the region baseball game. This rubbed me wrong and I spoke my mind. South Side would no more do that. Then Lip would skip bacculauate to put up Lights. lol Im just not going to take what they said lying down.
  12. Your right, Lip. helped our young men out. Thank you for letting them Graduate. This would have never come up untill someone thought it best to tell Lexington/South Side to plan graduation around the baseball team. I dont know how it is at Lip. but at South Side they are STUDENT/athletes not athletes/students. It will always be that way. Even if we dont win the region next year or the year after or the year after.................. get the point.
  13. I was not there to pull your tarp because it YOUR TARP. So let me get this right, Bacculauate is a big deal for Lipscomb. But Graduation should not be for South Side or Lexington. Lip handed the Hawks their hats, your right. Good job. but why you would make that stupid post is beyond me. You said it would hurt your pitcher. I just said maybe he would not have to pitch on THUR. Big powerhouse like lip. cant get lights man I didnt think the economy was that bad until now. Good luck in the state. As for you have some class like your baseball team.
  14. Note to Lipscomb, Please plan you Bacculauate Service on Sunday like everyone else. So you can have people there to pull the tarp when you need too. Unlike Lipscomb, Lexington and Jackson schedule the graduation around the 135 other students that dont play baseball or softball. We have a school system not a school. Just a thought, Get some lights and this will not be a problem. Just a note, Get some parents to miss Bacculauate and pull your tarp. Your coach said game would be played at 2pm on friday. Thunderstorm or not, BE READY. I hope you win all you can, because someday this will come back to get you. Sorry about your pitcher, After reading this maybe he won't have to throw.
  15. Thats what I heard also. But it was not Coach Growe. It was the DL AD who was standing out there with a lightning detector and found that lightning was 20 or so miles away.He then told everyone to leave the field. Did this twice. Why don't you guys have a tarp? Oh thats right you do, but not enough people to put it on from what I saw. Coach Growe most likely did say if we dont start by 2pm we have to go. Graduation was at 7pm Friday night. Theses kids had family and friends counting on them to be there, and Coach Growe being the class act that he is, was going to do everything in his power to have those kids back. DL coach is also a class act let these two coaches handle this. Here something you can do. Remember look at the radar, call all the people you will need to pull the tarp, have them be at the field, and PULL THE TARP BEFORE IT STARTS RAINING not after. lol Hope this game gets played. Two great schools, Two great coaches, ONE BIG GAME.
