FRA played a great game against a very good Ezell team. Eakes and Earps are both outstanding. Eakes is the real deal. But Smith and Wyatt for FRA were both hot. FRA's defense and trap, while Ezell still scored 50 points, wore Ezell down. The offenses for both teams performed. FRA had 8 three pointers, Ezell had 5. FRA is young, 3 seniors, 1 junior, 4 sophomores, 4 freshmen and an eigth grader. But they play very well as a TEAM. Good coaching from Chris Hart. Ezell will continue to be tough to beat. FRA faces another tough test on Tuesday playing Hume- Fogg. The District is shaping up to be a very competative one.

Dah.... Thats what I get for watching Florida beat Oklahoma and being on line at the same time. Thanks. I still think the defense wins both...but since I can't even get who is playing I might have that wrong too...

Tomorrow there are two games that will be good ones pitting excellent defense against very good offense. DL-HF and FRA-Ezell. If Maria Bagwell is back it should be an excellent game. DL defense is fierce but the balance of HF will help. I always beleive good defense will beat good offense so I will go with DL in this one. FRA- Ezell will be a good game to watch. Ezell has some excellent scorers while FRA plays an excellent man to man defense. Who might determine this one might be the three people in stripes. If that is equal I will again go with defense (FRA) in a mid 30's points scoring game.

The FRA-MLK game was ugly. But for FRA it was a win. FRA always plays tough man to man defense. It has been that way under Coach Hart for several years. So the MLK score is justified since FRA is only allowing 28.5 points per game. The surprise for everyone was only 28 points for FRA. The girls looked flat. FRA DID NOT shoot a free throw until 30 seconds left. The refs were not calling fouls either way. Free throws are a place where FRA generally gets good leads. FRA was fortunate to win. MLK has good speed and a lot of heart. Hope that helps.

From the Ezell- HF box score in the Tennessean either Maria Bagwell did not score or she did not play. Does any one know? She would be a difference.

The two big games tonight are CPA-DL and Hume Fogg- Ezell. Any predictions??? CPA should win over DL. They both have excellent defenses but CPA may have more scoring power inside. If DL cuts off Hannah at the baseline and fronts Mitchell they can stop them. Hume Fogg should win. Rumor has it that Maria Bagwell has been sidelined from practice for a week with an ankle sprain. If she is out it will be a whole different game. My guess is she will play...and make the difference. Either way both games should be very good.

FRA won three games in Memphis and won the SBEC Classic Tournament. The score were 48-25, 43-29 and 38-29 in the Championship game.

FRA is going to Memphis for a tournament next week. Are there any other teams in 9AA going to tournaments during break???

Two big games on Friday. Hume Fogg looks strong but will go against a very athletic East Lit. It should be a good match up. Edge goes to Hume Fogg but East Lit might have a fire under them after the loss to FRA. Each team has true stars that will be showing their stuff on Friday FRA and CPA play in a rival game. Whether it is Football, Soccer, Basketball or Volleyball these teams want to beat each other. Since it is at CPA they will have an edge. But FRA is disciplined and is playing well as a team. CPA needs a win to go into break at least 1-1 in conference. FRA would love to not let that happen. Bragging rights are at stake for both teams. And this season is the last time they will be in conference together since FRA is going to Division II next year. The Game is on. It is going to be a fun season for the kids and us adults..... may we always remember it is a game.

Hume Fogg really did it to CPA by the score. FRA played comeback basketball to win at East Lit. It was a good game, overtime. It appeared that FRAs zone press helped in the latter part of the game. East Lit is a very good team and will do very well in the district. FRA is young but could be a sleeper in the District.

Who knows what will happen in 9AA? It often appears in the past seasons that early season games go to the better defenses. So in each of these I would go with defense: CPA over HF, DL over EH, PC over MLK and the risky one...FRA over East Lit. But who knows?????

Good Morning. I am so glad the season has finally started. There is a lot of youth in the district this year so it could be a very surprising year for results. I have a question for the "old hands" that have been doing this for awhile. First, who are the Big posts in the district that will make a difference. I am familiar with Anna Mitchell at CPA but am not aware of any other "big" posts. Second, who will have the best defensive team? Have a great day.
