  1. If bigdawg3 is a bench coach for the Bulldogs it would be in his and his team's best interest to remove himself from these boards and not to get drug into these ditches. Lucas you can't win on here no matter what you say, so it is best as a coach not to say anything. You are a great kid, and the times we have met always respectful, and Coach White is lucky to have someone of your character on his bench. However, this is not the place for a coach. As bad as you may want to defend your team, players and coaching staff, STAY AWAY, your words will be used against you. Good Luck!!!! How did Tan like volley ball?? Don't anwser that, just wanted you to know that this is someone who wants to see you succeed. STAY AWAY!!!!!
  2. Rankings look good this week. Not sure if Hampton will get healthy this year, such a shame. If this Hampton team was at 100 percent they had and awful good shot at going down the road.
  3. Krich, truth be known, in 90% of the coaching dismissals at this level, doesn't it usually go back to playing time. Yes, I do realize that there were one or maybe two that did bonehead things, but for the most part its upset parents that decide the fate of a coach, especially in girls athletics. I do not look for Chambers to coach at this level again in our local area, if he is willing to relocate there are jobs out there. Most "girls" jobs are hired in house, this keeps the school from losing a position for a boys coach. Sad but true. Take the EHS job, all the talk about this coach or that coach, ultimatley Dugger was chosen because he is a good coach and more importantly he was "in-house" freeing up a place for a football coach, or a boy's basketball assistant. It's just a fact of life in Northeast TN where girls athletics are concerned. I mean Chambers himself was a "in house" hire just like Hicks, Bowling, and Parkey before him, as was the current coach. It's a brutal cycle, but girls basketball at Unaka will survive as it always has, and the next coach will be waiting for the next upset parent so that they can have thier chance.
  4. I was told that Unaka's defense looked really well, and a chip shot here or there could have meant defeat for the BlueDevils. This has to make Happy Valley take notice>
  5. Krich, how can you honestly say that Fisher took a less talented team and won, or that the lady Rangers are as talented as any of the 7? They may be the better of the bottom 3 but that would be a stretch. They have no scorer after Winters on a consistant basis. I dont know what color the glasses you look through are, but I would have them cleaned. I mean you have them dead last on this weeks poll then say that your number one is less talented with 5 others between the two of them. That makes no sense at all. Make up your mind.
  6. The Cyclones Fed the Post!!!!!!! The D was smothering!!!!!! Very well prepared!!!!!! As bad as I hate to agree with AZ, live by the three die by the three. Landers could be very inconsistant this year. Happy Valley may have their hands full tonight if what I hear was factual after the Unicoi and Unaka game lastnight.
  7. 1. Unicoi (Fisher is organizing a future powerhouse) 2. EHS (Still trying to find themselves, but has the talent to survive till they find it) 3. Cloudland (Not as good as past Highlander teams, but well prepared for all games) 4. Hampton (When completely healthy could easily move into 3rd) 5. Happy Valley (Heads and shoulders the top of the bottom 3) 6. Unaka (Beat longhorns head to head, but I understand krich's move to the bottom) 7. Johnson County (Getting better) Big game for Dugger's ladies tomorrow night. FEED THE POST!!!!!!!
  8. Careful "TheLastWord" you will be banished to another thread!
  9. You are exactly right krich, support those girls and stop being part of the problem. So I will exit your little forum, saying go Cyclones. Unbiased, obvioulsy is determined by u krich, and that was not a parting-shot, it was a basketball observation. Coach Wright has enough, with out the added pressures that are being put into place by people who say they are in it for the kids.
  10. 1. Elizabethton-Too much fire power, Dugger has them headed in the right direction. 2. Unicoi- Fisher alone keeps them in the top. 3. Cloudland- Senior leadership, but not as good or deep as past Highlander teams 4. Hampton- When Weddle returns this team may be the best in their conference. 5. HappyValley- Still needs to prove themselves to break into the top tier. 6 Unaka- Still shakey, Pat Summit would have trouble right now. X coach isnt helping the situation> 7. Johnson County- Needs to beat one of the others to gain any consideration. Definite seperation between the top 4 and the bottom 3.
  11. Oh yes I remember that, and he had Austin East down 24 to 23 with three offensive fouls in the 1st quarter. I'm old and have seen alot of ball and I always work my way back to watching him in Nashville that year. He was absolutly the best shooter I have ever seen.
  12. I think 86, I just remeber watching him in the state Tourney, wow is all you could say. You are right, other than that tourney he never played with the line, but that was the first highschool tourney to use it and he was the first highschool player from TN to record a 3.
  13. Cannon Whitby, Obion Co. was the first for the boy's, went on to play for Arkansas. Hit the three in the King of the Bluegrass Christmas tourney in KY. I think it was in 86. The line was not yet in use in TN., I would say that would make him the first on either side.
  14. I would be afraid to guess on the years, I would say mid 90's, I can remember Hughes at Cloudland, Troutman at Hampton, and Weems at NG. Talk about some wars, Larry didnt have the talent to play with those teams because they all had a stud and some real good players around them. And let's not forget at that same time Raider was at Happy Valley with some pretty darn good teams of his own, and Ricker and his teams of distruction at South Greene. Basketball in Northeast TN was tough. I am by no means taking anything away from Chambers's accomplishments, I was just stating that this is not Pat Summit that was let go. Did he do anything that anyother coach hasn't done, probably not, but he got caught. Time to move on, this is not the end of Lady Ranger basketball, he wasnt the first and the new coach wont be the last.
  15. I said weak class A, reading is fundamental. The region is just a replay of the district every season, two teams from the WVC are shoe in's for the sub-state. Class A competition in North East TN is weak. Look what Hampton did a few years ago after getting smashed in AA. They drop to class A and went to the State Tourney. I said Class A is weak in North East TN, not the WVC, and when Larry coached at Unaka, Hampton and Cloudland where in their primes, and North Greene had the Weems girl, Larry didnt have the talent to bring to the table with that bunch.
  16. I do not have a low opinion of Coach Chambers, he is a good coach and a good man, but you act as if Pat Summit had just been fired. In normal office talk today it was discussed that Larry Bowling never had a losing record at Unaka, and none of us remember this type of doom and gloom.
  17. No what is insultuous, is saying that given the same talent he would have could have. There have been some loaded Unaka teams in a weak class A that went no where. That falls under also-ran.
  18. How is he one of the top 5 coaches in upper East Tennessee?? He has made one State tourney apperance in all his years at Unaka, in a weak girls Class A. He wasnt an option over the coach at Science Hill, and he was way down the list at Elizabethton. He barely makes the top three in Carter County behind Cloudland's coach and the master Coach Tolley at Hampton. Then you have coach Campbell at Boone, Fisher at Unicoi the list goes on and on. He is a good coach and a good man, but let's not get carried away.
