  1. Thoughts and prayers for Adam's family from McEwen Warriors. Also for the other boys involved in the wreck. We played against them and Adam was such a great player.
  2. Our ladies will come to the court ready to play and ready to win! We have a strong bond among our girls which makes them a great team. I'll be there cheering them on tonight and Saturday (win or lose)....but I think it will be a win!! I haven't seen Forrest play, but hear they are really good. So I am ready for a great game tonight. Good luck Lady Warriors!!!! play with heart, play with mind, and play to win! I hope all the girls on both teams play a safe game.
  3. Amen mtownballer. I am glad you said what I was thinking. I was shocked by the game. And before any of the HC fans say "you're just mad because you lost" YES I am mad we lost, but I am more MAD that as adults the refs are NOT being role models to kids today. It was a sit on your sit kind of game, but it was also unfair to the kids (both sides) for the refs not to call some of the "slapping and pushing that was going on" . Our kids got malled, but we "bump" them and FOUL! oh my gosh. I just hope the same refs are not there Tuesday nite. Good luck Warriors!!
  4. Thanks. I understand what your were saying now. We depend on the parents to send pics to the newspaper here. Small town, small schools, newspaper once a week...you know. Last year was our first year of high school ball. I have one that plays on the middle school here too. I love baseball. I noticed one of the guys on here was talking about the mtsu games... i was a major fan back during my college days at middle, that was the during the time of Barry Vetter, George Zimmerman, tim goff, garl fugate, in the late 80's. I went to evey game at home and several away. I had friends that played, so I had to go support them. I was glad when my son's loved the game too. My son's both play first base, and a little pitching. My oldest is 6' 5 1/2 so he can basically step and hand the ball back to the pitcher. We all laugh at it. When he stretches for the ball it is so funny because of his reach. sorry, mom is a little proud. thanks again for the info. Good luck to all the teams
  5. I am not a professional photographer. I am just a parent, I take fairly decent pictures "thru the fence" thru the holes . What is the deal about not taking baseball and softball pictures. I have taken pictures from outside the "fence " from first and third base as well as behind the back stop. I know another lady that takes pictures all the time and the paper puts them in. Is this just a "bann" on the media photographers or is it all picture taking? I haven't heard anything about it yet, but then season hasn't started either. Just wondering.
  6. mcewen beat NCS both the boys and girls.
  7. Thank you. We have tried really hard to raise them right. You surprised him, and threw him a curve. He didn't know I had told you I would be there. He just laughed. He is getting ready for baseball. I know we play you all in baseball, well, we did last year. Does your son play baseball too? That is really his game. That and hunting. I will have to get the card I put it in my truck. I will email you later, thanks for taking the pics. I scrapbook, so I want all the pics I can get. I take pics at most of the games for others too. I also do scrapbooks for other people. They send me the pics and I put the books together. It is pretty cool. talk to you later. wp
  8. Sorry I misse you last nite. I just didn't feel good and I had to get ready to go to my grandmothers on Saturday. My son told me he met you, and so did my husband. he gave me your card. I just hated to miss it. Maybe we will met at another game sometime. Thanks for the picture offer, he didn't play last night. We have a very good young team. Sounds like it was a tough game all the way around. wp
  9. Easy Scrapman. save it for the game. lol You are letting them get to you, remember you told me to let it go. I hate to say I am going to miss the game tonight. I hate it, but I am not feeling well and I have to drive to East TN tomorrow morning to see my grandmother. My son is the tallest on the team. My husband will be there to cheer them on tonight. I hope everyone stays safe tonight. Last nite a girl from East Hickman got hurt. She did something to her elbow. So teams.....play hard, play safe, and mix it up. see ya scrapman wp
  10. If you were at the McEwen/Fairview game you would understand. I don't know if I have ever seen such a sloppy ref job. Yes, we lost, yes I am upset, but both sides were complaining about the refs. One of Fairview's girls knocked Taylor Long down then took her hand and mashed her face. The ref was standing right there....no call. They were calling fouls on the wrong girls. It is hard to get a foul when you aren't in the pile...this was on both sides. The boys game was about the same. This was our second meeting, the first was like a football game. Fairview is a very aggressive playing team...I am not putting them down...just an observation. Our girls will be back tonight, and tomorrow night. good luck to all the teams wp
  11. I do plan on being there, unless the Good Lord thinks I shouldn't be. I went to all the football games for our team too, and my son didn't even play this year. I enjoy watching the kids get fired up for their school. Brings back old, old, memories. Makes you wish you were young again. I'll be the loud mouth on the Warrior side, can't miss me. lol
  12. We will be traveling in our "hillbilly crew-a-boo" as one student called us the other day. We all try to leave the school together and arrive together to show our loyality. I will pass along the message bout the hamburgers. I know I will be trying one! We do have good concessions at McEWen.....part of our "southern" raisin' lol Without our Booster Club, we would be in trouble. We have great officers that make sure everything is done. I am just one of the many little warriors of the tribe. You won't be able to miss us.....we are the loud mouths! lol I have been disappointed in several games' refreeing this year. It is almost like let's hurry up and just get finished. It is one thing to have an elbow thrown during a rebound, but a full out knockdown then .....oh, let's just squish her face. Our girl handled it just fine, she got up looked at her and walked away. That took a big person to do that. Now, I am not saying she didn't "get even" later. lol It was a tough game. Fairview boys thought they were playing soccer...they kept kicking the ball, but of course....no whistle ever blown. well, I better get going. I'll be watcing for you at the game on Friday
  13. I think we play you all, White House Hertiage, on Friday at your house. Is that right? We played Fairview last night....I don't even want to go there. I think it was the worse game I have ever seen called. I was trully afriad we would have a free for all before it was over... this was the girls game too. One of Fairview's girls knocked down one of our girls and shoved her in the face.... the ref was standing right there! I don't blame the players, Fairview is a very aggressive team, but the refs I guess forgot how to blow the whistle. Don't get me wrong, yes, I am upset we lost, but my son told me that the Fairview side was just as upset over the way the game was being called. It was just unfair to the players, because if you let them get away with such behavior it isn't teaching them anything. well, have a great day. We play E. Hickman on Thursday. Good luck to your team this week.
  14. Being a Warrior fan......I will have to go with the McEwen. I agree, the last time we met WHH...it was a tight game. I hope Chelsea Hannah's ankle is better. That can be rough on a player. Good luck to both teams, and I hope everyone plays hard, and stays unhurt. We will be on our third game by Friday, but we did it last week too..so our girls are tough.
  15. I am new to the Mcewen area. I don't know him. I know where Schrock Rd. is I live not far from it. We have two mullinkiks on our team, but I don't really know them that well. Sorry. I didn't think you were "callin" me out. I just wanted to make sure no one misunderstood me, I would never put a kid down here or on the courts. I have been the kid on the court, so I understand the emotions in a game. I just love watching the kids play. It brings back "old" memories. Since you don't have anyone playing ball, we would love to have you visit our McEwen Warriors.
  16. Thanks scrapman. I really didn't think I had degraded anyone. My own child read my post and he couldn't figure out where that I was "being ugly" about any other kid. I am all for kids playing sports, it seems to keep them out of trouble in other areas. As for the raging homones and being upset at their own parents... I am glad I can be of help. I live with teenagers and I can handle it. Like I told MIDtn, if you go back and read my earlier posts, I Never put a kid down, and I never yell bad things at the kids on the court from the other teams. I do have to remind myself that I am an adult at the games. I am just like any other fan or parent, I want my kid's team to win, but it doesn't always happen. I guess I will have a new motto now-----OPU (Old people unite).... only I don't feel old....oh, well that is life. Someday Midtn and Grendal's kids will be old too and there were will be some kid out there that doesn't agree with them. That is what makes this country so great.....we can agree to disagree...we have that right. good luck to your team, scrapman, next week wp
  17. I know that McEwen plays Fairview at home. Should be a good game.
  18. Once again I am sorry if my post came out wrong. I didn't think that #13 was mean-spirited. I just meant he need to settle down with the slapping the floor, because some refs might call a T. That was all I really meant. I know he was upset with himself, not another player. I have been there, but my coach (back in the dino days) would have pulled my butt out to settle down for a few minutes and collect myself. When you are playing a game for a postion in the district it is emotional. Again, I am sorry if I offended anyone, that was NOT what I meant to do.
  19. For your information MidTnBasketball: I was NOT degrading the students. The backboard question was for when OUR player was shooting...Malcom Smith was not blocking a shot he just slapped it as he went up. I played ball...I know the board will shake! I was just asking about the rule. Some refs would have called a T; some wouldn't have. As for the comment about #13, I just know that once again some refs would take that and call a T. I have a son who plays and I for one would have gotten all over him if he had slapped the floor mad. I understand he was mad at himself, I have been there! As for refs "calls making or breaking a game" Yes, sometimes it can happen. We lost, but not for lack of trying to win. You need to learn some manners. It is a ball game, please! Yes, our kids were loud, but I think so were yours. I just commented on the kids that came to our side and did it to show off. I just think that things can get out of hand quickly, when kids do that type of thing. I am a fan, I am a parent, and I am also human. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. If you look back on my posts you will find that I want to see all the kids (both teams) play hard, play fair and yeah...... I would like for our team to win every game, but that doesn't always happen. Our boys came to play, and they played a good game. I enjoyed watching Malcom Smith play ball... he is awesome, I never said he wasn't. You have a good team; we have a good team. We all knew it would be an emotionally motivated game. Since I am an adult.. I wish your team good luck next week.
  20. McEwen plays jo Bryns at home. This is our second meeting so it should be interesting, both boys and girls.
  21. Yeah, we get another shot at CA later in the season. We play Mont. central tonight. Should be a good game?
  22. MeEwen won like you said.....a landslide. the score was 44-14 I think that is right. Our boys lost by 2 pts. at the buzzer. But that is a whole issue itself. During the girls' game one of our second string messed up her knee. We aren't sure what she did to it yet. We hope it is just a strain, but it may be something torn. She is suppose to get an MRI today. The sad part is that she is a unbelieveable softball player, and they may keep her out this season. We play Montgemery Central Thursday and Jo Bryns again on Friday. Good luck to all the teams across the state. Stay safe, Play hard, and play fair.
  23. I just wanted to say that our Warrior boys played a great game last nite. Yes we lost by 2 but there were several calls that went the wrong way...wait...on both sides. One was an out of bounds ball. The ref gave it to the Warriors and the CA fans went nuts and and they changed the call. that is not right! If a ref makes a call, that is the call...fans should not be able to convince them to change it. Also the refs called the girls game completely different than the boys. CA boys were all over our guys back....no foul. We finally figured out that you can maul, but not bump. As for the Smith twins, yeah, they are good, but when we were in their face they couldn't hit. #45 has the advantage of his height and arm span. It seemed like he could stand back 10 ft and slap at the ball. Yeah, this was a big game for both teams. Question: Can you slap the backboard when someone is making a shot? I don't mean by accident either. #45 hit it so hit the WHOLE goal just shuddered. also #13 needs some anger control managment...3 fouls in less than 30 seconds, slapping the floor,....please. If you are going to mix it up under the goal, you are going to foul or maybe be fouled. I also would suggest a few of your student fans stay on their own side of the gym during games and not come over and try to start something. I was sitting right there watching the whole thing. When you are in a emotional game, it is not a good idea to stir the pot. The reason I say this is because in today's society...good ole fashion rivalry can easily get out of hand. I will be the first to say that I yell. I am also loud, but I am not ugly about what I say. I do have remind myself that I am an adult, not a student. lol All and all the boys at Mcewen and CA both played hard to win. We play you all again, so we will be ready. Yes, you are right....Coach Phil Ross is one of the best coaches around. My son loves playing for him. We play Montgomery Central Thursday and then jo bryns at home on Friday. I am looking forward to that game. Again, good luck to all players thru-out the state. Play safe, play hard, and play fair. I just wanted to say that our Warrior boys played a great game last nite. 24. I think both teams played great games Friday nite. We were not expecting it to be as tight of game, but NCS came to the floor with their hearts ready to play and win. It was a very exciting game. We were on our feet alot of the game because it was so close. I think it was a draw on who played the best. It was pretty much an even battleground. We have a young team, so I can't imagine what we will be like in a few years. We have several freshman who will be amazing when they are seniors. We play Clarksville adc. tomorrow night there, so it will be interesting. Good luck to all the 10A teams this week. Everyone play fair and with heart.
