  1. I read most threads on here during the week of a big game..but I dont post that much...I must say that I enjoy reading post on here you guys are too funny at times... Now to the game...this one for my Devils...south pitt is always quick, fast, and very very good..I dont expect any less this year...I havent seen them play but a few clips on here....but good they are...the one thing that this Jo Byrns team has that other teams in the past has is GAME CONDITIONING....anyone that has played the game knows there is a huge difference in being in shape and in game shape..thats been Jo Byrns achillies heel for 5 or 6 years now...going back to the 08 title game against TC as a post earlier said Jo Byrns gave TC all they wanted and more for a lil over 3 qtrs....the score was 14-14 with 5 mins to go in the game...the last 5 mins TC dominated...Jo Byrns was physically fatigued and made a few costly mistakes that TC captilized on and the final was 31-14....Jo Byrns starters usually play a half for most of the regular season and when playoffs come around and they have to play four quarters they drained by the 4th...this year is different...the 3 or 4 games they had to play 4 quarters they looks just as strong if not stronger in the 4th than they do in the 1st...which makes me feel better about our chances cause SP is going to be ready to go all 4 qtrs and this game will be desided late.....Good Luck to Both teams...may God keep this a injury free and safe driving affair...GO DEVILS..
  2. Thanks dude......my boy is 5 so that helps out none...lol...hahaha
  3. Does anyone know if JB is selling tickets????If so when they going to have them?????
  4. Ok your right sometimes comparing scores gives you a little knowledge on what to expect...as for everything else you said..I agree as well....This all about this game fri and no other....both teams will have to play a almost perfect game...turnovers and penalities will be the difference...MAKE HISTORY DEVILS...BRING HOME THE GOLD...
  5. Ok you got me my name is Randall...but I dont play for this team...I graduated several years ago...I guess I should have been more clear on my last statement....I wasnt saying that Jo Byrns was going to put a beat down on South Pitt by no means...South Pitt and TC is the two most respected schools that I have had the privledge of playing against or seeing....in 1A ball...I was only saying that they played a weak regular season and they could have beat some of them opponents worse...cause I know some people on here like to compare scores...which I believe every game is different and comparing scores means absolutely nothing....
  6. Jo Byrns did play a week regular season schedule....The thing is the second string was in for a quarter and a half in most of the games...The final scores are shaded by most of them were close to halftime scores...Jo Byrns could have put close to triple digits on some of these teams...
  7. offensive encrochment is one of two things. One being someone lined up in the neutral zone. Second a player that started in motion turned and made a motion towards the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped. Once you go in motion you can turn and slide down the line or turn and line up as a reciever whatever as long as you stay parrellel to the line of scrimmage, but you can't make a motion forward toward the line of scrimmage without the ball being snapped. With that being sayed I haven't heard it called very often.
  8. That is a very good point. Private schools do have an advantage in sports over public schools. I myself was on the football teams that played the before mentioned. Looking at this program with what coach Adkins has done since the 2000 season the program has gone in the right direction about every year. Remember at one point in this program we couldnt beat the Cascade's, Collinwood's, Mckenzie's, etc. We couldn't beat the good public schools much less the privates. We now can hold our own with any team for at least 3 quarters. lol Looking at Jo Byrns now I don't think that it would be any different if we still played in that division. Remember we ran Davidson Academy off the field when we scrimmaged them and they ran the teams that used to be in our region off the field this season. I am just saying don't take anything away from this team and this program it has came a long way since 2000, but I am glad that we did have a change it.
  9. Congrats on a good win and a deserving state title for TC. You guys are great and played very well. I am proud of our Red Devils they came to the boro and gave you all a run for about 3 quarters, but liked I have sayed before we have proven that we can play with the TC's and the SP's of the state. It is one thing to play with them and another to win. JB left to much on the field and TC took advantage of missed opportunities like Champs do. I think JB has earned some respect from the East and now its time to figure out how to stop the mistakes so that we can beat a team from the East. Congrats agian to TC on a great season and a 7th state title.
  10. Congrats to TC you guys are a very good, conditioned, well coached and deserved state champ. I knew you all would be. I want to say that from all of us from Robertson County we are proud of Jo Byrns and playing a good game. We have proven that we can play toe to toe with the big boys, but what seperates good teams from great ones is mistakes. Jo Byrns left to much on the field tonight. Two turnovers in the redzones and two interceptions late. If we could have and should have scored on the opening drive and the one before the half this game is a little different, but not to take anything from TC their defense is a reason as well that we didnt score. They just missed two wide open recievers #83 was open on the 4th down play on a quick slant and on the throw right before the half that was intercepted #17 was open on the wheel route for a touchdown. Congrats to TC for a big win. I just believe that this Jo Byrns team could play with anyone in the state that is 1A.
  11. I will agree with you on that one...when you get to this stage of the season anything can happen....It should be a good game and I can't wait for it....I hope Jo Byrns goes in there and plays ball the way that they can....I have a lot of respect for the TC football program and when I played for Jo Byrns we scrimmaged the team that beat Clarksville Academy in the clinic bowl...they always have a great team every year and i consider them and Riverdale as the elite teams in the state....so if Jo Byrns can go into the game and even keep it close then they can honestly say that they stood toe to toe with one of the best...I wish safe travel and an injury free game on both sides...go get them Jo Byrns you make us all proud
  12. Just their own personal opinion I assume cause they got some bad calls, but that is just part of the game. I wasn't accusing TC of anything thats just the only thing I have ever heard about them thats all. So don't look to much in to that comment. I am cheering for Jo Byrns in the championship game , but I am taking your side on the accusing and he said/she said deals. To answer your questions though oldfootballplayer what I meant by that home cooking as far as the officials go. Is just missed calls or bad calls something to that standard. Had nothing to do with TC hiring or paying anyone. You know how it is a team beats your favorite team or you are playing a supperior team that beats you and you are on the short end of the stick on a few close calls. The first thing people talk about is the officials and who's homefield it was at. I don't think TC does anything out of the ordinary except win games.
  13. I havent ever heard of any cheating instances of TC that I know of. I have heard in the past (not this year) that they have had some home cooking as far as the officials go, but who can't say that from time to time. But I do have to agree if you don't have any real accusations then please don't post. Its all fun and games to get on here and voice your opinion and talk a little smack or what not, but straight up lieing just to form something to stir up in not exceptable not matter what team you are going for. Go Devils
  14. I don't know why everyone thinks that this will be a blowout. Jo Byrns doesn't have a bad defense. In fact they have pretty much ran all over everyteam they have faced. Mckenzie only scored 14 offensive points on their defense and that was in the fourth quarter. It was 25-7 with about 10 mins to go and that 7 came off of an interception return for a touchdown. Jo Byrns didnt even play their best offense against the rebels they turned the ball over on back to back possesions on two fumbles inside the redzone. Defensively I am not too worried about Jo Byrns handling their own against trousdale. Offensively we have moments of being like we have been for the past 4 or 5 seasons and at other times we dont look as good. I played for Jo Byrns from 97-00 we scrimmaged trousdale a few times and the time I remember the most was the year they played Clarksville Academy in the championship and won 46-3. We got the crap beat out of us in the scrimmage, but Jo Byrns now is not in the same league as when I played they are alot better on all sides of play. Clarksville Academy that year wasn't even the best team to come out of the west that year anyway they got a lot of lucky breaks and much needed help in the playoffs. I am looking forward to this game and I think it will be a better game than the experts say. If Trousdale comes in expecting to win by 40 they will get beat and if the game comes down to a field goal well Jo Byrns don't have a chance. lol. I will be there and cheering for my Red Devils, but win or lose I am just so proud that we have the chance to even play the great team as Trousdale. Trousdale by far is the best team this team has ever faced and if we can show up and play with these guys that in its self is a victory. Good Job on making it this far to both teams. Go Red Devils
  15. Way to go Jo Byrns...I don't hear any Cascade fans now...JK...Congrats on Cascade getting as far as they did....but it does seem like the guru got it wrong this year it will be Jo Byrns and Mckenzie since the beat the most athletic team in Tennessee 53-0....but word to the wise the next time you score with no time left and beat a good team by one point I wouldnt be so cocky that they don't have a chance in the next game you play them in deffinatley if it's the same team and the same season. Congrats to all teams that made it this far and WAY TO GO RED DEVILS!!!!
