  1. YELLING? GROW UP. MY POST ON PAGE ONE DOESN'T SUGGEST ANYTHING. IT "STATES" THAT HE MOVED THAN MOVED BACK LEGALLY. WITHOUT ANY SUGGESTION. TO YOUR FINANCIAL HARDSHIP ARGUMENT.. AS IT HAS ALREADY BEEN STATED, HE DIDN'T NEED A REASON TO GO FROM PRIVATE TO PUBLIC (AS STATED IN THE TSSAA BYLAWS). IF YOU WERE AS SENSITIVE TO HIS FAMILY SITUATION, AS YOU ARE TO ME TYPING IN "ALL CAPS", (WHICH IS A STYLE THAT APPEARANCE APPEALS TO ME; BUT I'LL CHANGE BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALISE IT HURT GROWN FOLKS "FEELINGS") WE WOULDN'T BE TALKING OR "YELLING" RIGHT NOW. SORRY. My fault......I did not understand that you were simply letting everyone know that his family's move broke no Federal or State laws and the need to clarify that on a High School Basketball Board, totally unrelated to eligibility? I happen to know that half of the people posting on this thread are GLAD he is not at St. George's. I simply do not think that the same luxury would be granted to other kids in worse situations.....hence the tension on the subject. I have no idea what the bylaws say. I would assume that there would be some provision allowing a kid to go from Private to Public with no penalty due to finanacial hardship...which is what I took CoachT to mean. Doesn't sound right just to be able to do that for no reason....which is what you suggest. Like I said....I do not know. This kid is a special talent...without a doubt.....but with D2 financial aide available these days to say that basketball has NOTHING to do with any of the events involved is a bit naive. JMO
  2. WHO SAID THEY "NEEDED" TO MOVE TO OLIVE BRANCH??? YOU GUYS ARE ASSUMING THAT.. NOW YOU WANT BIG BOBBY TO EXPLAIN IT? THIS IS AKIN TO WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT TIGER WOODS. "WHERE WAS TIGER GOING AT 2:15AM"? GROWN PEOPLE, DO GROWN STUFF, THAT GROWN UP'S NEED NOT EXPLAIN. MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK AT YOUR OWN QUESTIONS. THE FACT THAT THEY WENT TO OB SHOULD TELL YOU THAT MELROSE WASN'T IN PLAY AT FIRST. WHICH IT WASN'T.. AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN LEGALLY. IS IT POSSIBLE... "POSSIBLE" .. (FREE YOUR MIND)... THAT THE PARKS FAMILY HAD TO MOVE TO OB? AND IS IT POSSIBLE THAT BOBBY JR. WOULD RATHER BE AT RIDGEWAY THAN MELROSE? ONE GUY STATED EARLIER THAT BOBBY DOES "EVERYTHING" FOR BASKETBALL. WHICH IMPLIES YOU KNOW THE PARKS FAMILY. SO IF YOU KNOW THE PARKS FAMILY, DO YOU THINK IT IS POSSIBLE THAT BOBBY WOULD RATHER PLAY WITH A GREAT POST AT RIDGEWAY? RATHER THAN PLAY WITH A GUARD WHO SHOOTS 50 TIMES A GAME AT MELROSE. IF YOU "KNOW" THE PARKS, YOU SHOULD HAVE FIGURED OUT BY NOW THAT THIS MOVE HAD TO BE MADE. BOBBY JR. IS BASICALLY THE SIXTH MAN AT MELROSE. SIXTH MAN? MR. BASKETBALL 2009? TOP 150 PLAYER IN THE NATION? YOU GUYS HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. RESEARCH YOUR TOPIC FIRST.. OR MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE. OH YEAH, DID ANYBODY EVEN PULL UP THE ROSTER AT OLIVE BRANCH???? THAT TEAM MAYBE BETTER THAN MELROSE. I know enough to know that your post on page 1 of this thread suggested that his eligibility was based on his move out of state and back in.......then your next post put you smack dab in the middle of the financial hardship argument......then you started yelling at people in call CAPS and I quit reading. Pick a side
  3. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY RULED ON HIM. GOOD JOB COACH. Which was it.........if that is what they ruled then why the need to move out of state and then back in? Doesn't seem right to me. Free range for some while others .....
  4. Gonna have to respectfully disagree.......for some us, myself included, a little stint in Junior Pro was all it took to completely revamp a view on officiating. I've had my share of T's, ejections and tantrums both as a player and later as a Junior League coach. Was not until I was "talked" into calling a 10 year old game on a Saturday afternoon that I fully appreciated the job. I left scared for my life....and I'm a grown man. Changed my whole outlook. Ought to be on an episode of "Dirty Jobs".............I would rather hall hay in the middle of August! Hat's off to those who are willing.........because I'm never doing it again. JMO
  5. Not sure about 5 times, but several years ago....maybe 2003/4, it seemed like JCS played Middleton every other game?
  6. Agreed! Tried it on a lower level......found myself getting too caught up on actually watching and enjoying the game! Alot easier from the stands.
  7. Ironically....I don't think the lack of shooting is the kid's fault. They are just doing what they are told. You can tell by reaction sometimes that the only two scoring are probably the only two not doing what they are told. That offense is designed to get the little handoff to the basket or the back door layup on the cut. Honestly....it happens about once or twice a game...no more. They are going to run it until it does, or there's a turnover or until someone disregards the fear of getting pulled and throws up a shot. Then we'll drop back and play man defense against teams that are twice as quick. JMO
  8. I would not say that it is "boring" to watch.........The word "painful" comes to mind instead. Would be interesting to know, other than these two, how many double digit scoring nights have been put up by anyone else. I can only think of a couple. Got to get that first name in the box score! If I was the lone Senior and could shoot like he can, I would be putting up 20 shots a night! I would think I deserved that. Do this and watch everybody else's numbers go up. I could guard this offense with only two quality players knowing that I just needed to outscore these two. It can't be over soon enough!
  9. There always seems to be some point trying to be proven......I'm just missing it. In today's game.......a 10-15 point deficit at the beginning of the 4th is not too much to overcome! Especially if you have shooters......and letting them shoot! JMO
  10. Key words in that paragraph are "comes off the bench". WHY? What's the kid have to do? You lose valuable minutes at the beginning of the game because you are deteremined not to start the kid......then you pull him out at the end of the 3rd and sacrifice the first four minutes of the 4th? Meanwhile...without being ugly, there are several that do not come out EVER unless they are too tired to stand up.....not producing while in? Miller and Glover should never come out except for the occasional breather. Congrats to John Ross.....35 I think in under 3 quarters. If I remember correctly.....(1) three and the rest were inside and free throws. That was there ALL night and was obvious (if only to me) he found a nitch. Keep your head up, it will all come out in the wash. Not trying to bring up the whole coaching issue again, because I have made it clear about how much I respect TR as a coach and a man......but this whole situation puzzles me?
  11. I have also seen on more than one occasion (at levels below High School) where a team goes the wrong way on the opening tip and everything just keeps going with that being their basket and vice versa for the rest of the half. Not much you can't see at some of the younger levels.
  12. Once saw a youth game the coach of one of the teams grab his streaking point guard (headed towards the wrong basket for an easy layup) by the shirt as he passed in front of the bench. Realizing that at this age, made free throws were a miracle from God, he chose the technical instead of the high percentage layup. And he was right. Noone even argued the obvious backcourt as he got the offensive rebound and headed the other direction?
  13. Very well said. I would like to reemphasize the meaning of my previous post stating "time to try something different". This was simply my perception of the need for possibly a change in strategy to get through this year, not to staffing. A good example of what you mentioned above was after a game over the Holidays attended by several ex-players. The post game reunion between these guys and Tommy signifies the admiration and respect they have for him. Like I said, just like the Dallas Cowboys of the 80's.....you either love 'em or hate 'em.
  14. Not only was your response very well worded but very accurate as well. Coach Russell has always been the type that some people either think the world of or absolutely despise. There does not seem to be a middle ground. I personally think he teaches the kids a little more than just basketball. Look at atheletes in recent history that have recognized him as playing a big part in building not only their skills of the game, yet their character as well. Unfortunately...some kids of today do not accept that kind of tough love, therefore they do not like him and choose not to play. As for the administration....your comments are dead on. JMO
