  1. Check out why O.C. Brown is a finalist A picture is worth 1000 words.
  2. Just watched this video. That is the most awesome display of speed and power out of a high school player that I have ever seen. I can see why O.C. Brown is rated as 4 stars. On one play he runs a total of 60 yards, stride for stride w/the running back who eventually passes him at the goal line. I have been following your debate and not only would I vote for Brown as the best lineman in 3A but I would vote for him as the best lineman in the state. James Stone looks slow compared to Brown in his Rivals tape. I challenge anyone to watch the clip and tell me different.
  3. Agreed, For all I know I may have been the same way when I was 15 or 16. But I can't remember that far back. We seem to have ran them off though. Goodnight, enjoyed reading your posts.
  4. Can we trust you not to run off with the dough??
  5. Nothing against Scotts Hill either. Frankly, I have never heard of them and have no idea where they are. I have watched Manassas and Buckner may not play hard all the time but he will be a very good college player. He's used to playing AAU ball and 1A H.S. ball would be the equivelant of you going out and playing w/a bunch of 10 year olds. So he didn't play well, was lazy, got shut down, whatever. I wasn't there. BUT THEY STILL WON THE GAME.
  6. Guarantee?? $100, $1,000, $10,000 pick your poison. You likely don't have a $100 to your name so we need to have a 3rd party hold the cash.
  7. I'll tell you what I'll do. Some of you think Lake County will beat Manassas by 10 or more. Since I'm a nice guy I will take Manassas even and take all bets. Put your money where your mouth is.
  8. Cry all you want. Who won the game?
  9. You give me 10 and Manassas at home and I'll bet all you got (probably 3 or 400 bucks if you sold everything) vs. All I got (considerably more).
  10. Imafootballfreek (WC) is right. The more you talk/post the more foolish you look. The guy is rated 30th overall in the country. The ratings are made by people that I'm guessing know a tad more about evaluating talent than you guys. So he's overrated as you state and he should be #130. He would still be rated 5000 spots higher than anyone from Scott Hill.
  11. I believe that's right. Last time I saw him he had some letters or numbers cut into his short hair. It was painted blue.
  12. No problem. Do you know how Kendall Woodard did? He's about 6'2 210 and can elevate.
  13. Was this the guy, Did he look quick or just fat and out of shape?? February 28, 2009 Carlos Younger unauthorized website.com Staff Writer Breaking Down The 2010 Class: The Offensive Linemen Like 2009, when the state had several offensive line prospects who signed to play college ball at the D-1 level, 2010 will bring more of the same as there are a few top shelf OL prospects who are highly coveted nationally or regionally and several others who will play at college football's highest level as well. You have several 2010 prospects who exhibit good feet, balance and brute strength. James Stone 6-foot-5 300 lbs Maplewood The top offensive lineman prospect in the state of Tennessee. Stone has tremendous size and physical tools to make an impact on the next level immediately. Plays to the whistle and is a highly intelligent player. Would have liked to see more of him in passing situations, but he has the feet and agile to show promise as a pass blocker as well. Often pancakes defenders and shows tremendous strength. Already qualified academically, and isn't the type of kid who will bring negative publicity to your program. An all state performer. O.C. Brown 6-foot-3 315 lbs Manassas Has the most upside of any OL in the 2010 class instate and is one of the fastest rising prospects in the South. He has only begun to scratch the surface of his unlimited potential. He is still somewhat raw in some areas, but he show tremendous quickness and agility and shows a physical nasty side in the trenches. Able to pull on trap plays, Brown often leads runners down field as they pursue pay dirt. Needs to work on his technique and would have liked to see more of his pass blocking skills. An all state performer. Zac Tait 6-foot-3 320 lbs Knoxville Catholic This kid is simply a throwback. He plays with a physical presence and is just flat out nasty as a player. Sidelined last season with a major knee injury, which caused him to reclassify to the 2010 class, Zac was considered one of the top OL in the nation prior to injury. Showed the ability prior to injury to get out in front of RB's on screens ,etc. Still has offers from some big time schools and expect others to get involved once he proves he is back in the fall. Cameron Clemmons 6-foot-7 270 lbs Wilson Central Father played at the University of Tennessee. Has given up basketball in an attempt to get bigger and stronger. Shows tremendous agility and is probably the most athletic OL prospect in state in the 2010 class. Needs to add bulk at the next level. Has been a two year starter for his high school team. One of the smartest kids playing high school football in the state of Tennessee. Extends his arms well and keeps defenders away from his body on passing downs. Once his tape starts to circulate he should see much more interest. Jared Duke 6-foot-6 325 lbs Walker Valley His film recently surfaced on You Tube and is already creating interest from some teams. Probably the most unknown of the top OL prospects in the state. Is still raw and needs work on his technique, Duke shows tremendous strength, quick feet and the ability to make blocks even at the 2nd and 3rd level of the defense if necessary. Should raise a few eyebrows on the camp circuit which could lead to more interest. Others of Note DeAundra Simmons (6-foot-2 270 lbs) Memphis (TN) White Station High School Justin Daniel (6-foot-3 260 lbs) Collinwood (TN) High School Rodregus Scruggs (6-foot-6 280 lbs) Memphis (TN) Mitchell High School Wesley Sherill (6-foot-4 285 lbs) Brentwood (TN
  14. How many minutues, points, rebounds? Best Guess??
  15. Did big O.C. Brown get in the game for Manassas? He would be hard to miss 6'3 320ish. If so did he do any good??
  16. 1. Barry Brunetti QB MUS Clearly #1 His highlights on Rivals are incredible. 2. O.C. Brown C/G Manassas. Not the best player (yet) but best athelete for any 300 lb+ in the country (including d-lineman). Check out youtube. 3. James Stone T Maplewood Solid and already has many offer. At least the good fowlkes @ Rivals Volquest agree w/me on Brown and Stone. Read the bottom paragraph. February 9, 2009 Brent Hubbs VolQuest.com Editor Talk about it in The General's Quarters While quarterback is a huge need in the upcoming 2010 class for Tennessee, it's obviously not the only need. In fact, it may not be the biggest need for Lane Kiffin's offense. While finding and landing a quarterback in the coming months is going to draw most of the attention. The guys in the trenches, or lack of them at the moment, is drawing major worries. Four seniors including McClendon make offensive line recruiting a priority in 2010. If Darris Sawtelle makes it back from double shoulder surgery and if Preston Bailey is a part of the team, the Vols would have 13 scholarship lineman for this fall. But speculation continues about Bailey's future and Sawtelle's injury issues have many wondering if he will ever be a factor. If those two are not part of the equation and you throw in the fact that there will be four scholarship senior offensive linemen this season on the roster, it's conceivable that come next December, Kiffin could be working with just seven scholarship offensive linemen on his football team. For the class of 2009, linemen were a priority. At one point while assembling the class Tennessee had four offensive linemen committed and were thought to be the leader for two more elite prospects in Morgan Moses and Peter White. But the staff transition hit the offensive line position as hard as any. Valdosta, Ga. tackle Antonio Foster decommitted early and never truly listened to the new staff. Then, Aubrey Phillips decommitted after a month of waffling, finally choosing Florida State. Peter White stayed home to go to Maryland and Morgan Moses followed former Tennessee assistant coach Latrell Scott to Virginia. Kiffin admitted on signing day that he was tempted to take a chance or two on some offensive lineman, but decided against it. When you breakdown the numbers, the temptation for Kiffin was obvious. One wonders if this spring on the practice field, Kiffin doesn't have to try to audition any able body somewhere in the offensive trenches and off the practice field, Tennessee will have to focus just as much on the offensive line if not more than any other spot on the roster despite the headlines that the quarterback position will receive. For the Vols, that means instate recruiting for the class of 2010 is even more important as Maplewood High School (Nashville) lineman James Stone and Manassas High School (Memphis) lineman O.C. Brown are not just the top two offensive linemen in state, but they are also two of the top 3 or 4 players in state at any position.
  17. Don't know JJ but to those in the know BIG is not the point. BIG is a "dime a dozen." "Big and can move is special." TN probably has 600-800 H.S. players that weigh 300+. Only 2-3 of those can run anything close to a REAL 5 flat 40. Thanks for the nice words on O.C. and Manassas. We are going to try weight lifting this off season. Bigiron
  18. James King is a Sr. It's to bad we did not do as good of a PR job w/him as we did for OC. Most of the big schools are set by now on runningbacks. He's looking @ Arkansas State, Middle TN and a few others. The kid can flat play and he has a chance to be a star @ some of these mid-major schools. We should be very good offensively next year but we lost a lot of defensive starters. Good luck next year and keep in touch.
  19. Today OC Brown is on the front page of Unapproved Website. It all started on this little 1A message board. Thanks to those who commented and forwarded info. Particulary you McReb Dad. BigIron http://footballrecruiting.Unapproved Website/defau...2Ecom&LIN=1 Unapproved Website Barton Simmons Recruiting Analyst Is it ever too early to call somebody a sleeper? Class of 2010 offensive lineman O.C. Brown, from Memphis (Tenn.) Manassas, was an unknown a week ago. Playing at a small Class 1A public school, Brown wasn't on the radar of college coaches. He didn't have a profile on Unapproved Website. He hadn't attended any camps or combines in the offseason. Even Brown's own offensive line coach, Mike Ray, didn't realize just how special he was until after the season was complete. "We knew he was really good," Ray said. "As an offensive line coach, I probably didn't even realize how good until the end of the season because when you go over all of these plays, I just kind of glossed over what he did and all my attention was focused on the other guys that needed to do better. "After the season was over, I sat down and watched the game film and watched him on every play, and every play he was killing people." Ray is one of just four coaches ??“ and one of three who are essentially volunteer assistants ?€’ helping out at Manassas. With such limited resources, Brown hasn't had the exposure of some other prospects on the national level or even within the greater Memphis area. But one look at his highlights makes it clear he is a special talent. Brown's coming-out party happened two weeks ago when Ray posted a highlight film of Brown on YouTube. It didn't take long for word to spread about a 6-foot-3, 315-pound offensive lineman who runs like a tailback. O.C. Brown's potential got the attention of new Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin. "You can just say that two weeks ago he was on Arkansas State's map and Tennessee had sent him some mail," he said. "But now it's gone from 'Hopefully you can go somewhere' to 'You may actually get to pick where you go.' " A former college offensive lineman, Ray has experience and knowledge to draw from, and he has high praise for Brown. "I would just say that he's the most agile offensive lineman I've ever seen," Ray said. "We've got a left tackle that weighs 200 pounds, but O.C. runs just as well as him and carries 120 more pounds." Brown's talents are not just hype. After being named coach at Tennessee, Lane Kiffin's first recruiting stop was in Memphis. Tuesday night, Kiffin met with the top senior in the state, Marlon Brown, after watching him play basketball. Wednesday morning, Kiffin made his first high school visit as Tennessee's coach to talk to the Manassas coaching staff about O.C. Brown. Brown also was invited to attend last week's Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game in Stillwater, a trip he made with Ray. "I think it's great," Brown said of all the new attention. "I grew up wanting to play football in college." Other than one game at Arkansas State, the Oklahoma State game was Brown's first introduction to major college football. The national spotlight game was an eye-opening trip. "It was good. I'm just a big fan of Oklahoma State," he said. "It was a big game. I'd love to go to Oklahoma State. I've never been to a game as big as that, so it was great to go somewhere like that for the first time." While the Oklahoma State trip left an impression, Brown has been an LSU fan since he was 9, drawn to the Tigers' style of play and their uniforms. Brown also loved basketball growing up, and playing that sport could be a big reason for his athleticism on the football field. "It helped my feet a lot and my conditioning," he said. "I played after football season in middle school. I played basketball, and it made sure that I was much faster." The results are evident when watching film. Brown's speed and mobility are rare for an athlete who is more than 300 pounds. Even so, Brown has a lot of development left to go. He has never worked out consistently in the weight room. Though he has started on the offensive line since his freshman season, he hasn't had much individual instruction until recently. In January, Brown will find out just how far he has to go. He plans to attend the U.S. Army National Combine for rising seniors in San Antonio. Coming from a school that throws the ball five times per game, Brown will be asked to pass protect against some of the top defensive linemen in the 2010 class during one-on-ones. It is a daunting task, but one Brown is excited about. "I'm ready to go," he said. "I'm looking forward to all of it."
  20. Junior OC Brown has been invited to the US Army Jr Combine in San Antonio. How would you compare him to Austin Long, Alex Bullard, Will Jackson when they were Juniors. If you think someone else is better who is it? Bigiron
  21. This youtube clip was made and posted under the thread "If you like agressive Lineman" on Thursday night. Friday AM Rivals called and drove in from Nashville to interview OC Brown. They extended and he accepted a spot in the elite US Army All Star Game Junior Combine held on Jan 2nd in San Antonio. OC Brown has gone from a virtual unknown to a national top 250 in less than 24 hours. Whoever you are thanks again, BigIron
  22. Thanks for the kind words McReb Dad. Congrats on destroying Lake County unmercifull. It would be a something of a consilation prize to say we got beat by the eventual state champs. Go all the way, bigiron
