  1. I seem to recall a couple of years ago Houston Co. beating McEwen during regular season AND in the district Tournaments. HC also went on to beat Academy for the tournament championship.
  2. Heritage is gonna roll thru 10a. period. Good luck to all the teams.
  3. HC will have to play the game of their lives to beat CA. They are going to have to get the ball low, drive the ball, and shoot hot from the outside. Mostly they are going to have to play D. Someone is going to have to step up and shoot the ball. They are not taking enough shots. And I hope their coach lets them play ball. I agree he starts subbing too quick, and never lets the team settle and hit their stride. Good luck to both teams
  4. those 3 will certainly be factors. Throw Hammond in the mix and HC has the capabilities to surprise teams in 10A. Roper has developed into a strong post player, and with the outside shooting from Featherstone and Monroe they should be able to put points on the board. Their defense is what I am waiting to see.
  5. They have a pretty tall post player that has gotten better as the season progressed. I dont know one twin from the other, but one runs the ball and the other is on the wing.
  6. I went down to the HC - WHH game tonight, and for the first half it was a runaway for WHH, then HC came back with a roar and got within 4, it was a very good game and the final score doesn't reflect that, it was run up by the " fouling for the ball" that goes on. But what I wanted to post was I saw something I had never seen. The ref T'd a boy in the last few minutes, and I, like most of the people there, thought it was on a WHH boy for shoving a boy intentionally. It happened right in front of the ref and he immediately threw a T. Well, the ref then threw another T, and then the discussion started. Refs and coaches at the scoring table, then WHH shoots 2 T shots. Ok, I am thinking, I was wrong about who it was called on. I was waiting for the second set of T shots, because there were 2 called, and they never materailized. But when WHH comes to the sideline to take the ball out, there was another discussion going on at the scorers table, and the boy is standing there waiting, and a boy on the HC sidelines ( apparantly they knew each other ) asks him " who was that T on? " The WHH player turns, laughs, and says " It was on us, on Bedwell " The HC crowd went wild. They heard what he said. The ref standing there heard it too. But nothing was done about it. Just wanted to share what wonderful refs I have witnessed this season.
  7. Well, as I said in an earlier post, I went down to HC tonight to watch the game between them and Clarksville A. I got there right after half time of the girls game, and left in the 3rd quarter of the boys. NOT because Academy was winning, but because of the blantant and obvious calling by the referees. Now I have no dogs in this district, don't live in Houston County, and only wanted to see a good game of basketball. But, as a fan and former ref myself, I will have to say I was ashamed of the bad bad refing that went on. The change of calls... the terrible fouls committed against Houston Countys , (I thought for sure their point guard would have a concussion after one of the twins took his head off 2 times on layups ) with no call. HC was getting the shaft, I knew it, HC knew it, and if they are honest people, CA knew it too. I overheard one fan say " might as well put a saddle on our boys the way they are riding their backs" and that is God's truth. Is THIS why Clarksville A is winning all their games? Are they allowed to play every game like I saw them playing tonight? Do the refs stand back and let them run roughshod over every team, because they are SUPPOSSED to be the dominant team in the district? The refs in Houston County tonight, well, 2 of them, need to go back to school, or get some guts and call the game the way it's suppossed to be called. Because what I saw tonight is why referees have a bad name. I was disgusted. As to the point guard references on here, Cooksey is the better of the two, even their second string point guard could keep up with CA's. HC's big boy wasn't hitting tonight, but the whole team came out cold in the first quarter, CA was hitting, but the charging was unreal and uncalled, although HC got a couple called on them, they were jokes, bad bad calls on the ones I saw. One thing before I go, if you are going to dunk the ball, make the dunk, you just look foolish if you don't, in my opinion, a good coach wouldn't let his players attempt dunks, 2 points is 2 points, no matter how the ball goes in. At this age, all a dunk is good for is to get a boy hurt, as happened tonight when one of the twins hung on the goal with boys under him ( do I smell technical? ) and wound up busting his head in the floor. He jumps up, runs down the floor, where HC has fast broke to their end, and as HC's boy goes to put the shot up, one of the refs calls a refs timeout, because the boy has fallen, the one that has already run down the floor........ just to take 2 away from HC??? Sure looked that way to me. As I said, I was ashamed and disgusted by what I saw tonight. In an evenly called game, CA may still come out on top, but it would be closer, because most of CA's team would foul out by halftime. CA will win the district, and may go to state, but they won't be allowed to play like what I saw tonight in the 'Boro. Not unless they bring their own refs.
  8. Ummm... Woodard had 20 against HC last Friday......... the final score was 88 - 86. IF my subtraction is right, that leaves 60 points by the rest of the team. I was there, and I assure you, Woodard is NOT all ER has. But, If they put him under the goal, he will out rebound and outscore either of the Smith brothers. Also, ER scored ( I think) 95 points in a previous game. And yes, you guys got the snot beat out of you by Northeast in Clarksville. Comments like the ones you have made on this thread only makes people resent your team, which is a shame, they are good boys and ballplayers.
  9. I'll take CA by 15+ You must have something against HC, I don't know that I have ever saw a post that you said anything good about them.
  10. CA @ HC game will be closer than everyone thinks, if HC comes to play. They looked good against ER, and earlier this year in scrimmages against Dickson and Northwest. But if they play like they did at Stewart County, they will be beat. CA is looking to revenge last years loss, and have all the ability in the world..... HC has lots of ability too, if it's utilized. The Featherstone boy is out with a bad ankle, and Monroe is still playing on a bad ankle. Skelton has improved 100% since last year and Roper stepped up big against ER..... the Barnes boy is always gonna come to play ball, and Cooksey is one heck of a point guard. The new coach is making a difference in their defense too... think I might go watch this one.
  11. CA is for sure the front runner...Nashville Christians three point shooters if they are on and hitting will be hard to handle...Houston county has two of the biggest boys in the district and absolutly the best point guard in the district. If anyone can handle the twins it will be houston county...They have a new coach with a new attitude, and he comes from a AA state championship team he should be able to get the most out of Houston County...Their two post players should be as dominant as the twins..Looks like an interesting year in 10a...
  12. And Moore has one of the best pg's around. Would this of helped the boys? And you didnt hear it yeaterday, you man, are so full of dirt that now I know why no one pays any attention to you.
  13. Whats his record and how long has he been coaching? Head coach, not assistant. I dont care who the coach is, but I do think it went to the wrong guy.
  14. If you feel that way about "secret names" then why did you post on one? Also, if you are ashamed to be a Houston Countian then move. The "vicious" posts were not made by HC people. Read it again, oh, I forgot, it was a waste of your time. Positive in your remarks? Being ashamed of Hoston County people is positive?
  15. I was curious about gotgame after southernballers post and what was said about him or her being an agitator so i went looking. game has been in several different threads............... 10A playoffs, houston county all time players ( where he got told off by grendal), manassas, 1A coach of the year, district 11, lewis county, waverly, stewart county, and he knows all about them. started arguments in all of them. i did find this little quote of his; "Based on this years results, Sycamore would be a tough test, as well as waverly..Cheatham would be a good test as well...My guess is their non-schedule would have natural rival Houston Co. (couldnt see them giving up that gate...and win)" after that kind remark about houston county i dont really see the need for him to post on this thread. A real houston county backer huh?
  16. Buddy i can assure you you dont know moore and his family as well as most of these people on here, and not as well as basketball. trotter has to apply before they can hire him. all we hear from you is him. why dont you get in touch with him and ask him if he is going to apply. or just give us his number if hes as good as you say he is i want to talk to him myself
  17. i have to say i agree with basketball after reading all this. if you dont want to help the kids stay out of it
  18. Sad to hear Coach Bagget is leaving along with Beal. I dont think Coach Young wants to leave the girls team. They can hire in the system, McCollough at their middle school is a good coach or what about Scott Moore? He has coached most of those boys in middle school already, and is a very good coach.
  19. Sycamore pulled it out by 3, and even though I am a Sycamore fan, I have to say this, the reffing was not up to par. Girls, look out, Cheatham will get you at home with better refs unless you work work work.
  20. On my way home from our game tonight I was going thru radio stations, picking up bits and pieces from other games. ( I like to keep up on whats going on ) This is what I heard from the Houston Co. WHH game. " Its hard to beat 8 people on the floor. 5 Players and 3 referees". Now, I wasn't surprised, Its usually that way in that gym anyways, but I figure they shut Dillard down. When is Ho Co gonna realize they have 5 players on the floor? Any opinions? other than mine? BTW, my girls won /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. I was at the WHH/HC too, and neither team is my team, but this is what I saw;I dont know what their star player had, dont even know which one you are talking about. I saw ALOT of fouls that went uncalled, your boys like to push off, hold shirts, etc.... and I also saw 3 very young refs, who had to stop and ask each other what was going on, changing calls on the others sayso. HC is a better team that WH, you have a couple of shooters, thats all I saw out of them. As for being tied for first, ummm have you played CA yet? They will wipe the floor with yall. I have to agree with basketball, HC is a better team than WHH, though time will tell now that the Spurgeon boy is out.
