If you can get to Huntlands bench, they may struggle. They seem to find a way to get it done though!

Agree, Huntland has all inexperienced freshmen on the bench.  They have got some good minutes out them here lately though.

Looks like the tournament is set with Fayetteville and Cornersville in play in game with winner facing Huntland. MC  and Eagleville face each other in 2-3 matchup. All teams are capable of winning on a given night.

agree, should be a great tournament.

  3. What takes SP so long to hire a coach? You have 2 guys already there that won a state championship last year.  Looks like you would have learned a lesson with the last hire. Bigger is not always better.  Let the guys who love and care about SP football do the job.

    1A BlueCross Bowl

South Pittsburg (10-2) vs McKenzie (14-0)

    (Fri. Dec 3rd. 3 PM)

5 Players To Watch From Each Team

South Pittsburg: RB De’Andre Kelly, QB Richard Hunter, DL Gio Davis, WR Reginald Hunter, RB Jayden Mount

Mckenzie: RB Marquez Taylor, QB Jackson Cassidy, DL Gage Moon, RB Rashad McCreary, OL Daniel Latimer

Other Notes: South Pittsburg seemed to be the favorite to win the BlueCross Bowl in 1A last year, but after a heartbreaking upset loss to Fayettevill in 2020, the Pirates will be looking for redemption in this one. This might be the best running back matchup of the weekend with Marquez Taylor of McKenzie and De’Andre Kelly of South Pittsburg. Both are Mr. Football finalists.

    Staff Predictions

Mansfield: McKenzie 21, South Pittsburg 20

DeNote: McKenzie 35, South Pittsburg 31

Leedham: South Pittsburg 35, McKenzie 30

Haines: McKenzie 21, South Pittsburg 14

Secrest: South Pittsburg 30, McKenzie 21

Wallman: McKenzie 31, South Pittsburg 24

Henson: McKenzie 28, South Pittsburg 14

Crabtree: McKenzie 35, South Pittsburg 28

#57 is South Pitts best defensive lineman.  #75 does not compare to him. Watched them play all last year. If 57 was 2 or 3 inches taller he would be a major college prospect.

To me it's Cookeville. Fayetteville has top talent but not the depth. Cookeville dresses 100 plus, plays 30 kids in and out. I say top fvie toughest on schedule, in order, is  Cookeville, Fayetteville, Watertown, Macon, Trousdale

You will be surprised by Fayettevilles depth.  They pretty much two platoon and didnt lose much to graduation.

  6. Danley threw a gem and hit a questionable home run but Huntland could not muster enough offense. Round 7 with Eagleville in the morning for another shot at Summertown

By the way the home run is TSSAA fault for playing on fields with a portable fence and not on a real softball field.

  7. Might want to get used to seeing Huntland and Eagleville here at the state tournament.  Both are playing a lot of youngsters and their number one pitchers are young.  Hope they both do well but the experience will pay off in the future.

Huntland with an unbelievable thrashing in championship game. Game six for Regional championship next week.

I think the lefty from Eagleville may be overpitched and has a tired arm.  But who knows she will have several days of rest before the next game.

Not sure any single A school in the NATION could match that non region schedule!

Dont know of any single A school who would want to match that schedule.  There is a reason they have classifications.  I see SP going 9-1 this year.  Oakland is the only team on that schedule better than they are.  Talked with a guy from North Jackson the other day and he said they would not be able to compete with SP.
