  1. Nooga Don't let the Fly bother you. You had a fair and pointed observation. West TN wrestling was ecstatic to have you travel from the East to this tournament (and all other out of town teams that traveled). "WE" hope you will return in the future and "We" look forward to traveling to your backyard. Fly had a Clinton-Obamaisk response to your question....don't answer, but attack the person who dared question. I just hope ya'll stopped in at the Commissary and filled up on BBQ and Ribs, before you headed out.
  2. Your eyes did not deceive you. Several of the EBE wrestlers were present on the floor by the worker's table apparently assisting their coach in filming individual matches. I assume it was a service NCAA or host was providing as they were decked out in a lovely baby blue polo shirt and Khaki outfit. Nice gig as long as you don't Alf the video.
  3. It looks like a great venue. I suppose there are several obstacles before you see a change. First, Freedom Hall organizers would have to approach TSSAA with their proposal. I know in football playoffs, TSSAA takes all of the gate....how would this impact the fiscal viability of the event for the local organizers. Clarksville overcomes this by using their own facilities. Second, the travel distance for all participants should always be a consideration, but not the only deciding factor. The Memphis teams travel to find competition...so do Nashville teams...so do Chatt teams (oh my gosh, in chartered buses - how dare they!). I don't begrudge any of them for wanting to minimize the travel factor. The more centralized the event, the better for Jed, Elly May, Granny, Mr. Drysdale and Miss Hathaway to come cheer!. Failure would be defined as a large venue with empty seats. I only wish it could be in a facility that could re-join the D1 & D2 dual events. Yes, Clarksville was overly crowded for the event....but it was an EVENT. All of the TN wrestling community was present and quality wrestling on stage by D1 & D2 teams. TSSAA has tried to rotate other events regionally with limited success. Sometimes when you have a good thing going, it is hard to rock the boat. I know it is alot easier to talk about hosting an event than actually do it! I just hope someone at TSSAA will look at the 2010 calendar now and book McKenzie for the right dates in advance!! One thing for certain, don't mess with the State Indiv at McKenzie. Great town for visitors and great event organizers. I'm planning to be there again this year in Jethrine's corner. She got a good shot at Heavyweight this year /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  4. Fantastic attitude. If you knock off the #1 seed, you become the #1 seed /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> It sounds like the 119 bracket may have lots of good early matches. As for # 3 seed Morris (Blackman), he will play with Mr. Obermyer first, then entertain # 2 Stewart. (pls note, Jethro don't have no dog in this hunt) At the end of day, I wouldn't be surprised if Ray carries this off. His finals loss (12-11) to Sluder (Greenback D1#2 ranked) at Purple Irish Invite was a doosie. Ray got off to a strong start, but Sluder finished strong for the W. In reviewing the video, Ray was close to getting a pin twice in the first period...but ya gotta wrestle 3 periods!
  5. A look ahead to Saturday afternoon - This tournament has makings for some great final and semi-final match-ups. 103 - #1 seed -Mullin (ND) v #5 seed - Ward (McC) in semis; with finals match-up with #2 seed - Heath (Blk) 112 - #3 seed - Mr. Blake Thomas (BHS) v #2 seed - J Boone (ND) in semis (is this a rematch from Soddy) with finals match-up w/ # 1 seed - Gardner (SD) - Great action in these matches. 119 - #1 seed Kendall Ray (McC) in finals vs Semi-final rematch of Soddy Tour w/ #2 seed - Dustin Stewart (SD)v Overmyer (BHS) 125 - #1 seed Mr. Hooker (currently Ranked D2 #2) v #3 seed T Boone (ND)(Currently ranked D1#1) 130 - #2 seed Taylor Witt SD) (currently ranked D1#1) v #1 seed - Kevin Dentino (Brookfield East) (I'm unfamiliar with him) 140- #1 seed Mr. TJ Duncan (Currently Ranked D2#1) v #4 Taylor Peck (HHS) in semis; I don't know the #2 seed - Grady (Clarksville) or #3 Seed - Thomas (Union Co). Whomever gets Duncan will have their hands full. 189 - #1 seed - Croy v #2 Seed - Kennedy 215 - #1 seed - Patton v ??? YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE ABOVE OR OTHER POSSIBLE MATCH UP. These matches alone will be worth the price of admission. BTW - Union Co coach must have brought some serious data for good seed placement of his wrestlers.. I haven't seen this team in 2 years, so I will be interested in how the brackets work out. My above comments don't include them simply because I'm unfamiliar with their boys. The added competition is welcome.
  6. Copied from HHS web page 2008 TEAMS ARLINGTON - BARTLETT - BRIARCREST - BRIGHTON BROTHER MARTIN - CBHS - COLLIERVILLE CORDOVA - CRUSADERS - ELM - ENSWORTH - GERMANTOWN GHS-HUNTSVILLE - GRISSOM - HARDING - HIXSON - HOUSTON HOUSTON - KINGSBURY - MBA - MUS - ST. BENEDICT ST. GEORGE'S - WHITE STATION Br. Martin has been extremely strong at this tournment every year, so logically, they are the team to beat. Additional Mid TN teams such as MBA, Ensworth, Hixson will add some great wrestling to the mix. Not familiar with "Elm" or "Crusaders"?
