  1. I cant believe some of the comments on here. Goodpasture wont loose 2 of 3 game... Shoot it was "they wont loose a game" befor they met the ladies from Unicoi. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Give Unicoi the respect they deserve. They beat a dam good Goodpasture team. stink it up and act like adults, admit it when you are proven wrong. From what i saw all week the 2 teams from the East gave Goodpasture all they wanted. It just as easy could have been an all E TN winners bracket final. As for Unicoi acting like they had just won the AA state championship.... who knows that may have been the first step. Shoot i was screaming like a little girl myself & im 52 years old pluse my team was all ready back in Knoxville. Go get-um Unicoi...If they wont give you the respect you deserve TAKE it!!!
  2. Good game between two great teams. I think they brought their A game, may have been an A- but holding Goodpasture to just one hit was outstanding. A few too many errors and runners stranded on base. Not to mention the ump behind the plate was blind in one eye and couldnt see out of the other. Good luck Lady Eagles!!!
  3. Diamond DW Its nice to see someone stick up for the east TN teams & with your students success in 2005 it shows that you knew a little about the game. If you are who I am thinking you are I know you personally. However I question what you know about the local teams now days. Two things in the above post make me say this. a major quality win over Knoxville power West High School 9-8! Since when is West High a Knoxville power? Thy are 9-12 & finished 6th in there district this year, 10-15 in 2008 & 14-16 in 2007, never won there district & never made a state appearance as far as I could research. Other than the 11-0 loos to Sweetwater (of which they gained respectability), How in the world do you gain respect in a 11-0 loss? Just want a little clarification. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

For anyone that aint "been there and dun that" Unicoi County is one tough place to come into & pull off a win. There fan support is surpassed my none in the area that i know of. It truly is something to see all them 4x4 trucks lining the outfield fence. Kind of reminds me of the dirt track races daddy use to take me too. Sorry to say but Stone only has 1 player that might be able to hit Kara if she is on, like she usually is. Gibbs advanced tonight, it wasnt hardly a run rule like usual but close to it.... Gibbs 12 Granger 3
  5. Gibbs 12 - Grainger 3 Not really that close but you got 1/2 of it right...... Tradition moves on! Good luck Lady Eagles... Represent East Tennessee well! Also dont think either of the Mo-town teams will see the "Buro"..... Knox Central will advance & Maryville will move on even without ther star freshman. Should be 2 interesting games.
  6. In the St. Benedict v/s Gibbs game it was a 6'+ blond that could bring it and had a NASTY change up. By far one of the best pitchers I have seen this season.
  7. District Standings Loudon 3-0 3-2 Stone Memorial 3-1 5-3 Kingston 1-0 4-3 Knoxville Catholic 1-3 1-3 Anderson Co. 0-1 2-4 Scott County 0-1 0-1 CAK 0-2 0-2 1-0 in District with a 4-3 over all is not bad but if you go by the district standing thay are in 3rd right now. I was unaware Kingston had beaten Stone 1-0. After further review looks like it could be a 3 horse race in District 4. But Kingston needs a few more district games befor I change my mind. If the rain holds out I should get a chance to see them play this weekend and I will let you know if they chage my mind.
  8. For lack of anything else to do let think this out....... In Distric 1 who is going to knock Unicoi or Elizabethton out of the 1 2??? I havent seen anyone in dristic that could do it so far. Distric 2 is a 3 horse race so far between Grainger, Pigeon Forge & Union County but neither of them have what it takes to upset either of the Distric 1 teams as of now. Distric 3 is a runaway like always with Gibbs holding down the #1 spot & Carter, Fulton & Alcoa fighiing for #2. Distric 4 has Stone Memorial & Loudon leading the way but I dont think they can hang with Gibbs. So.... It more than likely will be Unicoi & Elizabethton v/s Gibbs & Stone or Loudon fighting for the 2 spots in the Buro. As long as Unicoi & Gibbs hold up there end and nothing crazy happens, I see both tese teams making the trip back to the Buro again in 09. I think a more interesting question would be do either of them have what it takes to equal or better there 08 run threw the Buro? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  9. I didnt break out my gun but I didnt see any 60+ pitches out of Northeast over the weekend. But it was chilly all weekend. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  10. We saw yours running backwards & she wants to try it... I told her she couldnt until she perfects the "behind the back" drop curve that rises we are working on. She also considered the teaching job at Princeton but was afraid it would take too much time & cut into her furure political carrer as the next president. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. I love how these poasts get turned into a bragging contest. If all of what is on here is true then 75% of the teams shouldnt even show up at the qualifiers. ASA should just hand the berths out to the Falcons.... no one can catch them with 6 players in sub 3's. Worth should get one just because a few parents think they are the strongest team in the state & "really" do have 2 girls throwing in the 60's... That just leaves 2 berths for the other team to fight over. Funny how no one has spoke a word about DEFENCE, SMALLBALL, HITTING YOUR SPOTS WIH A 65mph PITCH or other aspects of the game that really decides who wins a game. Can thse flamthrowers hit there spots regulary or do thay just throw 70mph bb's intot he parkinglot? Can the rest of the team field a 60+ ball comming back at them at over 100mph....what if its 40' high & flys 400'? Can all 6 of them spedsters even make contact with a ball? if they can what about the rest of the team? Or are they planning on winning all there games just scoring 3 runs once threw the line up? Bottom line is.... Speed or pitching alone will not earn any of these team a berth. Last time i checked this is a TEAM sport & takes 9-12 quality players, solid coaching & a little luck to be successful. It should be interesting to see who is pulling there foot out of there mouth in Aug... FYI: my 10yo will be trying out for the Falcons & Worth both next season. She throws 10 pitches all over 70mph & has a home to 1st time of 1.3... O ya she also hit 150 HR in T-ball last season. She has decided to take this season off to concentrate on learning Trigonomerty before she enrolls at Harvard. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. Softball time must be around the corner if Mr NoitAll has reared his head. I can only hope 2009 is as memorable as 2008 & with you starting this early I can tell you have been cooped up for too long. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> I can believe you left out the K-town teams. On that note I will have to all my 2cents. Farragut had a great run in 08 but unfortunaly lack of pitching could be there downfall in 09. We will see how far 3 power hitters & speed will take them this year. My ol allmamater Gibbs should make another run threw the "Boro" this year. Loosing a Senior pitcher will make it a little tougher but after the impact the 08 Freshmen class made & a tallented Freshmen pitcher comming in this year things are shaping up nicely for the Eagles. Powell will have there hands full with the likes of Central & Karns but its hard to keep the Panthers out of the "big show" 2 years in a row. Just my 2cents /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  13. There is a lot of good information on here so far. It is refreshing to so many people trying to help out a young lady. I would like to add a few things from an ex-player now parent of 4 athletes point of view. Back in the day /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> when I played things were different. Fewer players, less exposure, lack on knowledgeable coaches or for what ever the reason TN & the Knoxville area was miles behind the rest of the country & the opportunities for play at the next level wasn't there. I was fortunate enough to play with one of the best High School pitcher to come out of Knoxville & our players got a lot of looks because of that. Things have changed tremendously. High School wont get you far any more. You need a well known, reputable travel ball program with the right goals for that. My oldest now in her senior year at a top end D2 school had to play with a team out of Nashville to get seen. My second oldest (the true all around athlete of the bunch) had to play with a team out of North Georgia / Chattanooga to be seen. I am happy to say that my High School Junior has been able to play with a Knoxville team the entire time & is on the right path for the next level if that is what she wants. The Knoxville area is slowly learning & if the 2-3 coaches that have the knowledge & experience would just swallow there macho pride & get over there egos the Knoxville area could have that true Gold team (or one real close to it) It starts at the lower levels. You cant just wake up one morning & decide your going to compete as a Gold team when you have been playing B ball the past 3 years. Kara, You dont have to go to Nashville or Chattanooga to be seen. There is teams in the Knoxville area that can help get you to that next level. There are a few coaches that know what it takes & will help guide you down the correct path. My advice to you & your parents would be to talk with the coaches of some of the the teams named on here. Ask the hard questions. Who beat who or wins and losses doesnt mean anything, you need a to be on a team that can complement your talents. I would stay away from teams that just have one or two teams in there organization, most of them are lacking coaches with the experience or knowledge to get you to the next level. The better programs attract the best coaches at the higher levels & thats what you need to help you threw this journey. IMO, with you being a SO (2011 Grad) you should be striving to play on a team that has a chance of making it to the 16u ASA Nationals. Exposure tournaments & National Qualifiers should be all thats on there schedule. One last thing, dont count on your coaches to do all the work for you. You need to start self promoting. Fill out the questioners, email the coaches of the collages of your choice & ALWAYS reply back to any emails you receive. Register for the Clearinghouse ASAP & keep your grades up. Doesent matter if your the next Jenni Finch, if your grades are below par you wont make it to the next level. Collage ball should just be a stepping stone for the best education possible. Best of luck on this journey & God Bless!
