  1. It sure sounded like you were saying they have the same attitude about basketball and football. I said, that is not true. Don't have to look very far to see that. But, and it's not like I'm trying to stick up for Milan, isn't it a Gibson Co. fan that said they lost because they got cheated? Maybe you have some bad blood towards the purple 'Dawgs.
  2. Comparing Milan football to basketball makes no sense, but that's something totally different. Remember that Milan boys went 2-25 just three years ago, and this is their first winning season since '03-'04. I've made several posts that were skeptical of Gibson Co. basketball this year. But the Pioneers did show a few bright spots (beating Obion Central at Troy back in December, beating Peabody twice, winning at Dyersburg last week, and their effort through three quarters against Westview both times and Milan two out of three games). I think Coach Hart did a good job, and things are improving for Gibson Co. boys. They lose a few talented players, including Masagna and Reeves. But even though the district gets tougher (with Covington, Ripley and Haywood) next year, the Pioneers will be ready to compete. Best of luck to them.
  3. First off, this poster just made everyone from Gibson Co. look uneducated. Secondly, you made one good point. The game was Gibson Co.'s until the fourth quarter. But it wasn't the referees that won the game. The Pioneers had chances to win. They didn't. (By the way, Milan hit 25-of-34 free throws.)
  4. Going with my earlier picks: Gibson Co. over Milan by 27 Obion Central over Westview by 4
  5. Milan beat Dyersburg, 55-48. Our semifinal bracket is set for Thursday. Gibson Co. vs. Milan - 6pm Obion Central vs. Westview - 7:30pm
  6. Correct, at 6:30. Tonight's other games: (5) South Fulton at (4) Peabody (7) Dresden at (2) Lake Co. (6) Greenfield at (3) Union City In District 13A, (4) Huntingdon beat (5) Bruceton 62-30 last night. Their two other first round games (Big Sandy vs. Carroll Academy, Clarksburg vs. McKenzie) are tomorrow beginning at 5pm. Huntingdon plays (1) West Carroll on Friday night.
  7. Last night: (5) Lexington 64, (4) Chester Co. 61 Tonight: (3) McNairy vs. (6) Camden, 8pm Friday: (1) Bolivar vs. Lexington, 6:30pm (2) South Side vs. McNairy/Camden winner, 8pm Monday: Consolation at 6:30pm, Championship at 8pm
  8. Congrats to Chassidy and her teammates! She is very deserving of this nomination. The other two young ladies will be playing in the Sun Belt conference next year (Lashay at Western Kentucky and Lauren at Middle Tennessee), and Chassidy will still be putting up 30 ppg in 13AA. But for now, way to go for her and the Lady Rebels!
  9. Humboldt beats Peabody, 68-58. It was tied at 55 with about 3:30 left in the game. But Humboldt finishes on a 13-3 run. Leading scorers: HHS - Cilisha Harper 17, Natasha Davis 16, Courtney Norman 13, Patra Hubbard 12 PHS - Lorna Hudson 21, Brianna Harper 12, Rachelle Bolden 10, Laquita Luten 10 Humboldt improves to 17-9 and will play Lake Co. on Thursday night at 7:30 in Trenton. Peabody's season comes to an end at 10-18.
  10. Covington is definitely capable of doing that. I felt like I had to rank North Side ahead of the Chargers, just because they won both regular season meetings. But the 14AA winner is in great shape to make it to the regional championship game.
  11. Thanks very much. It's fun. Going to be interesting to see who wins those big games tonight in 14A. Just listed who they played this past week. But even though North Side got the #2 seed in 14AA, that's a very strong case for the Lady Indians.

  14. We're gearing up for the district tournaments this week. Here are my picks. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions. 1) Bolivar (20-3) - beat Middleton and Liberty, lost to Covington 2) Liberty (23-5) - beat South Side and Hardin Co., lost to Bolivar 3) Dyer Co. (28-1) - beat Westview and Brighton 4) Humboldt (26-0) - beat Milan and Bradford 5) North Side (16-3) - beat McNairy and USJ 6) Covington (20-6) - beat Bolivar, USJ and Haywood 7) JCM (15-5) - beat Liberty, Chester Co. and South Side 8) Lake Co. Honorable mention: A - Middleton (12-10), Union City (17-10), Riverside (18-4) AA - Milan (18-8), Haywood (7-16), South Side (8-17) AAA - Hardin Co. (14-8) Best of luck to all teams in the postseason.
  15. It could definitely happen. We'll see if it actually would. Either way, Gibson Co. will most likely have to play Westview or Obion Central in the regional semifinals. Amber Rechis or Chassidy Fussell will be tough in a loser-go-home game. This thread is fun for predictions, but it doesn't do much good until this time next week when we know the definite matchups.
  16. Early picks: Gibson Co. over Covington Westview over North Side Haywood over Milan/Dyersburg Obion Central over Fayette-Ware Westview over Gibson Co. Obion Central over Haywood Westview over Obion Central This bracket takes a lot of chances. First off, I'm not exactly sure about the 14AA standings right now, but I did look at the scores that are on here (Haywood and Covington both beat North Side in their last meeting). Secondly, it says that Obion Central will beat Westview in the 13AA semifinals, making the Lady Rebels runner-up and Westview third place. Obviously, only two of 13AA's top three (at the most) can make it to the sectionals.
  17. Early picks: Dyer Co. over Fayette-Ware Covington over Milan North Side over Obion Central Haywood over Westview Dyer Co. over Covington North Side over Haywood Dyer Co. over North Side The Region 7AA winner goes to state, but the runner-up loses to BTW in the sectionals.
  18. Remember that 13AA is changing with the reclassification next year. Covington, Haywood and Ripley join Crockett Co., Dyersburg, Gibson Co., Milan, Obion Central and Westview. (Dyer Co. moves up to 13-AAA). Gibson Co. and Westview are my favorite gyms in the current district, and both have done an outstanding job in hosting tournaments over the years. Enjoyed the district tournament at Dyersburg a few years ago, too. So, I wouldn't have a problem with it either.
  19. They should be announced within a couple of weeks. There are three outstanding seniors in the state (Upperman's Lashay Davis, Marshall Co.'s Lauren March and McMinn Central's Kylie Lambert). But if West Tennessee happens to get a player nominated, I think it should be Chassidy.
  20. It's going to be a fun, exciting tournament. My picks: Obion Central over Dyer Co. by 23 Westview over Crockett Co. by 24 Milan over Dyersburg by 2 Gibson Co. over Milan by 27 Obion Central over Westview by 4 Gibson Co. over Obion Central by 6 Westview over Milan by 8 But as VOR says on another thread, it's high school hoops! Anything can happen.
  21. Thanks for posting the schedule, Coach. I don't really expect any upsets in the play-in or quarterfinal rounds of this tournament. The best games there look to be Gleason/Halls and Peabody/South Fulton. In the semifinals, Union City/Lake Co. should be fun.
  22. Legend, the school you support has now been mentioned nine times. Four by you, and five times between three other posters. If you want to talk about how your team beat City University by ten last night, start a new thread. If you want to talk about the 14A tournament, region 7A tournament, or the substate games - stick around. February 26 through March 5 at Huntingdon HS (first round will be at higher seed)
  23. The bracket has been finalized. http://tennessee.coacht.com/boards/index.p...howtopic=190204
  24. Not sure if they will be using the same format, but here is last year's bracket. Opening round games: #10 at #7, #9 at #8 Quarterfinals: winner of 7/10 at #1, #5 at #4 Quarterfinals: winner of 8/9 at #2, #6 at #3 Semifinals: winner of 1/7/10 vs. winner of 4/5 Semifinals: winner of 2/8/9 vs. winner of 3/6
  25. Tonight's scores: Gibson Co. 86, Dyersburg 43 Westview 76, Dyer Co. 41 Obion Central 71, Crockett Co. 62 Thursday's games: Crockett Co. at Westview Obion Central at Milan Brighton at Dyer Co. Standings as of tonight: 1) Gibson Co. (12-0, 26-0) tie 2) Westview (8-3, 24-3) tie 2) Obion Central (8-3, 19-5) 4) Milan (5-6, 15-8) 5) Dyersburg (5-7, 14-11) 6) Crockett Co. (1-10, 7-13) 7) Dyer Co. (1-11, 7-16) So does this mean we'll probably have a coin toss to determine 2nd/3rd and 6th/7th? (4th/5th too, but that will just be for home team on the scoreboard between Milan and Dyersburg).
