  1. Ok well since we've started predicting for next year, why doesn't someone step up and give their top four (in no particular order) key players for next year in each weight... PRTiii
  2. Talking to some friends I hear Lewis is planning on being at 30 this year. I have my prediction for the 125 state champ but Im just gonna keep my mouth shut. But, if Lewis stays at 30 that will set up a three way collision course between Lewis, Lopez, and Woods. Will be fun to watch those three this year. PRTiii
  3. Yes it did happen, good call I knew I forgot one. Speaking of bcb, I wouldn't call little bcb a state champion just yet, hes got the family curse to break first (oooh sorry bear cat, it was low but I thought it was funny). Its almost time for bcb's annual post of what the abbreviations mean, and his predictions! PRTiii
  4. Lots of transfers this past offseason. TJ Satterfield at William Blount, Houston Clemons to Baylor, Blake Oakes (Cleveland 125 from 09) to Bradley. Thats really all I can think of at the time. Bradley will be strong again, as usual. I think Cleveland will be down this year, but keeping the Lopez brothers will be a benefit to them. Ryan, well what else do I need to say..Father Ryan Irish. Fin. Science Hill, well I think they will be tough but will be number 5 or so in the D1 rankings as they are down this year too. Brothers will have a tough year as well as they lost their big 3 too. PRTiii
  5. I wouldn't be so quick to say hes already won it. If my prediction is correct it will be Kennedy and Tucker Bolton from BC in the finals, and that will not be a cake walk for anybody. My sources out of Murfreesboro tell me that Mike is putting in less than enough effort to walk through the rest of the state this year and Bolton is doing exactly the opposite. Im not saying Mike cant win Im just saying he is NOT an automatic state champ for this year... PRTiii
  6. Its still the off season. Wait til the season starts or is about to start and you questions will be answered on here. Your new to this forum, believe me when I say, about the time preseason tournaments start up this forum gets nasty.
  7. PRTiii

    UTC Camp

I know there is a dual tournament with the camp. What all teams will be there and is there anybody in Chatt that can give us updates? PRTiii
  8. After Franklin and Ravenwood both beat them last year... Franklin has Woods and Shrader..Ravenwood has Freeman who was at 112 (beat Maxwell twice) and Churchill at 25 (who beat Pitts)....Blackman has Kennedy and Fuerbacher...Im not saying Independence isnt strong, Im just saying I doubt theyll finish fourth when they didnt even qualify last year and the teams that beat them are only stronger next year..
  9. I'm wondering how Independence is number 4. They lost Heithcock this year. With Cox and Newberg as their only major weapons I dont see how they finish number 4. Just me though PRTiii
  10. You know this board is slackin when the only team we talk about is Rossview...
  11. Blake told me yesterday hes not going.
  12. Some matches I would have love to have seen if anybody has the matches that would be cool. 145- Newberg over Doster? Would never have predicted that 152- Duncan over Aguilar- Bet it was nonstop action. of course Croy over Kennedy
  13. Who all is planning on attending in each division and weight? The tourney is three weeks away and here is who we have registered so far.... Freshman-- none.. Sophomore-- McCoy Newberg-152 (Freshman National runner up, 3rd in state this year) Cody Davis-171 (6th in state as a freshman, runner up in state this year) Junior-- Edward Holland-145 TJ Duncan-152 (Four time Tennessee State Champion) Senior-- Trevor Herron-135 (TN state Champion) Cameron Croy-215 (Three time TN state Champ, Fargo AA, Harvard Signee) Surely we have more people going than just these. They update who is registered everyday, so Ill try to look every other day or so. We need to get our kids signed up for this tourney yall!! PRTiii
  14. So you're suggesting D-1 loses for the first time at 171, and I'm not sure their was a loss at 152 (Aguilar) all season. gotta ask ya, if Wesley wrestles Proctor 10 matches - what's the end result? You're also suggesting Croy and Allen can edge out a decision only- that's it? I know what Blake Thomas has done head to head, much better than MD's vs. D-2's. You still say D-2 by 11? Don't agree with some of In Hoc's, but I'd have to go with d-2 at 171. The Wesley kid is rarely out of position and I don't see Proctor being able to take him down. Common Opponent Wesley m.d. Tambellini 9-1 at Ryan Invitational Proctor d. Tambellini 3-1 at State Indiv. Different styles are gonna match up with different people, you cant base Proctor vs Wesley entirely based on Tambellini. Not only that the Ryan Invitational isnt as big as the state tournament. Maybe Proctor was a little more cautious and not looking for a pin as opposed to just looking to win....
  15. Ok, D1 vs D2 103- Brunner vs Akers--Akers dec--d1-0 d2-3 112- Thomas vs Ward--Thomas maj dec--d1-4 d2-3 119- Watson vs Hames--Watson dec- d1-4 d2-6 125- Lewis vs Manley--Manley dec- d1-4 d2-9 130- Lopez vs Bauke--Bauke maj- d1-4 d2-13 135- Herron vs Johnson-- Herron dec- d1-7 d2-13 140- Doster vs Chege-- Doster maj- d1-7 d2-17 145- Cox vs Johnson- Cox dec- d1-10 d2-17 152- Aguilar vs Duncan- Duncan dec- d1-10 d2-20 160- Jones vs Todd- Todd dec- d1-10 d2-23 171- Proctor vs Wesley- Proctor dec- d1-13 d2-23 189- Kennedy vs Ferguson- Kennedy maj- d1-17 d2-23 215- Croy vs Helton- Croy maj- d1-21 d2-23 Hwt- Allen vs Mackey- Allen dec- d1-24 d2-23 So by my calculations, D1 takes it. D2 gets a comanding lead but D1 battles back in the upper weights to win it.... PRTiii
  16. If I remember correctly he does have two good training partners in Murfreesboro at this time. One being Hamm. The other being a former state champ, national runner up, and hes even gotten bigger than Mike now. I saw them warming up together before Mikes state finals match last year. This person being Luke Borneman, tell me thats not a good workout partner to have. PRTiii
  17. I know Im still kind of a noob to coacht, but I've been around Tennessee Wrestling for a long while now and so I figure I would do my year end awards. So without further ado...here goes.... Coach T noob of the Year... 3rd. Vinivedivici--hope this doesnt last long as your immaturity will not be missed when you leave 2nd. Daytime6 and Nitetime6--pretty much the same as above, won't miss you when your gone 1st. Well Im gonna give it to me Finished second in the pickem so ill take it! lol Coach T'er of the Year... 3rd. Hrdcrwrestler--Classy guy...hope he stays around for a while 2nd. Rigger101--hadn't seen you in a while, good to have you back 1st. BCB--Saw you at state duals and you gave me some advice about coacht, which I did impliment btw Upset of the Year... 3rd. Caleb Little (Indy) over Brad Compton (Franklin) in the Region 6 Finals via Spladle--Compton placed 6th at the state tournament for the second year in a row, Little did not place. Only put this up because of the Franklin people getting infuriated on coacht the following day. Both nice kids, saw them talking before as Compton was warming up for a match. 2nd. Jacob Freeman (Ravenwood) over Nic Maxwell (Karns)--happened in the Quarter finals and then again in the conso finals of the state tournament. More of Freeman to come later. 1st. Miguel Robles (Kenwood) over Matt Cruise (Science Hill) via pin and Richard Manning (Ooltewah)--While some would say he had a horrible draw, he thought otherwise. Took out two of the top three 160lbers in the state in the first two rounds. Went on to place 4th. Newcomer of the Year.... 3rd. McCoy Newberg (10th, Independence)--Went from JV last year to Freshman National runner up and 3rd in the state tournament. Didnt get the best draw in the world as the semi finals match up with him and Aguilar came down to one point. Should have been the finals. 2nd. Jacob Freeman (9th, Ravenwood)--Staying under the rader up until the state tournament, everybody had Maxwell and Thomas in the 112 finals. Freeman put a stop to that and then beat him again for third and fourth. 1st. Turbo Smith (9th, Soddy Daisy)--While everybody knew who he was, beating a tough Josue Brown from Hunters Lane in the Semis of the state tourney and go on to take a silver medal at the state tournament in a tough weight is definatily an accomplishment worth noting. Match of the Year 3rd. Kaleb Baker (CBHS) dec Greg Sheppard (Dickson Co) 125lb Father Ryan Finals--Down six with thirty seconds to go Baker takes Sheppard down Three times and cuts him. The last takedown coming with five seconds left to beat Sheppard by one. 2nd. Joe Procter (Cookeville) dec Cody Davis (Pigeon Forge)--In OT Davis almost scores the takedown to Defeat the Defending state Champion. A closer match than I would have predicted. 1st. Turbo Smith (Soddy) dec Josue Brown (Hunters Lane)--Evenly matched all the way up until the Ride or Die when a coaching issue cost Brown the match and a rematch of the Region 6 finals. Freshman of the Year 3rd. Jacob Freeman (Ravenwood, 112lbs)--upset Nic Maxwell in the semis and the Conso Finals. 2nd. Turbo Smith (Soddy Daisy,140lb)-- Runner up in the 140lb weight at state. 1st. Brandon Brunner (Tullahoma, 103lbs)--State Champion and a heck of a kid. Sophomore of the Year 3rd. Cody Davis (Pigeon Forge, 160lbs)--Monster, runner up in the 160 pound weight class. 2nd. Campbell Lewis (Soddy Daisy, 125lbs)--Two time State Champion now, chasing the first division 1 four timer that i know of. 1st. Zach Watson (Baylor, 119lbs)--Three time state Champion. Elbow injury early in the year didnt matter, came back to take his third title. Junior of the Year 3rd. Mike Kennedy (Blackman, 189lbs)--One his first state title in dominating fashion of Salada of Cookeville. Sophomore national champion and 5th place at the Super 32 tournament. Awesome year. 2nd. Ethan Hames (Bradley, 119lbs)--One his second state title over Jack Boone of Notre Dame. Won best match at the state tourney. 1st. TJ Duncan (McCallie, 152lbs)--Won his fourth state title this year and will be looking to be Tennessee's first five time state champion next year. Senior of the year 3rd. Joe Proctor (Cookeville, 171lbs)--Two time state champion from Cookeville. 2nd. Daniel Bauke (CBHS, 130lbs)--Three time state champion out of Memphis and a Air Force signee. 1st. Cameron Croy (Brentwood, 215lbs)--Three time state champion out of Brentwood and a Harvard signee. Well there you have it. I hope this can move me out of Noob status PRTiii
  18. I guess Croy, Zach Watson, or Blake Thomas never got that message..When will they learn that all its gonna take is wrestling alone to get to college? No brains needed.. PRTiii
  19. Ladies and Gentleman (I use that term loosely). The results are in! Sorry it took so long but I had to take time off my busy schedule to do something I thought that I would never have to do again after college, math. Next time I need to think this through before I sign up to do it...Ok so heres my awards for the year.. In 9th place....Toughytoughman with 69 points (you didnt even have a prediction for 140, although you got 152 right all the way through...impressive) In 8th Place....StairRaider with 98 points (Slipping?) In 7th Place....Matman with 113 points (this certainly explains alot haha) In 6th place ....CoachBray with 114 points (literally one-upped Hamm) 5th Place was a tie..... Congrats all you get is a thumbs up tho ( ) because I can't offer you any real prize as that could be considered recruiting by the TSSAA...... See ya next year... PRTiii
  20. There are numerous problems with the state tournament. A couple off the top of my head that have not been able to have been changed in the past is the pull-through, and the blind draws. Both of which are now crap. The new venue allows so much more to happen then could in Chattanooga, you would be surprised how much just two extra mats help. The pull-through was only instated because of time issues and depth of the brackets. Tell me why I left the ag center today at 1:30 with wrestling not scheduling to start til 6, and we can't get rid of this pull-through crap? There is no need to continue the pull-through because the new venue is better...Bigger floor space=more mats=less time. Simple. Kids that get upset in the first couple rounds are then relying on the kids that beat them to continue to upset just to keep them in. Just ask two of the top 160's in the state how that feels...Manning and Cruise. Neither of which will have the chance to place this year because they both got upset by a Kenwood wrestler who got pinned by Ethan Henry in just over a minute. And then on top of that making them weigh in the next day? After getting beat the day before and your gonna tell them to continue to cut weight, even though they lost, just because there is a CHANCE that that kid could win. I saw a kid come in almost 10 pounds overweight today because he knew he was out and he wasnt going to continue to cut weight. Which brings me to my next point. Seeds. The 130, 152, and 160 semi finals should have been the state finals. Im from region six so ill use this as an example. 152, Newberg takes the region. Shrader gets third in the region. Shrader majored Lilly at the Ryan tourney so today was a definate shock to us when he got pinned but for a region third place to have a route to the state finals and the hands down top two in the state have to face in the semis is unreal. If we want to grow any as a state in wrestling. Any. We cannot invent our own way of running the state tourney. Run it like any other tournament. Double Elim. No blind draws. Seed them with the same criteria as you would for regionals. Ill see you guys tomorrow night! PRTiii

  23. Wrong, hes fine, saw him today. Doesnt matter, even a sick Croy takes 215. Stop nit picking other peoples predictions and do your own.
  24. Isbell has a fight to get to Lewis though, I saw Little in the region 6 tournament and he is tough. You can't look past any wrestlers especially in this weight. Hands down one of the most stacked weights in the state right now.
