  1. I think this is the most lopsided year in a long time in a comparison of state champs here are my predictions: 106-D-1 113-D-2 120-D-2 126-D-2 132-D-2 138-D-2 145-D-2 152-D-1 160-D-2 170-D-2 182-D-1 195-D-2 220-Spli HWt-D-1 Seems like there is some parity
  2. Don't all novice wrestlers, especially those in their first two years, climb the proverbial hill of disappointment culminated by frustration and lackluster results? That is just wrestling, I don't know too many individuals who walked out onto the matt on day 1 and were coronated state champions As for your general point about teams, there are a slew of relatively new Williamson and Rutherford county schools able to start and build successful programs (Ravenwood, Independence, Summit, Blackman, etc). Admittedly these programs had great support from their districts, coaches, and parents but it simpply isn't all about money and resources. If that was the case why hasn't Ensworth high school wrestling become a juggernaut?
  3. So quantity has a quality all of its own now? More crappy wrestling which reciprocates more bodies is supposed to be the goal; not improving the proficiency nor quality of wrestling? Who cares how many programs there are; in my opinion some should throw in the towel, a minus 14 lineup is a joke (inadequate coaching and other support delegate these programs as insolvent enterprises).
  4. Great point, I understand TN is a rural state thus the hypothesis that creating more champions will inadvertently foster more interest, but subjectively I believe that objective hasn't been met. Contrapositvely it has watered down the sport, but just think what a single tourney would facilitate for the true believers? Also from personal experience I was a two time D-2 HWT state champ at the same time Cody Sliger from Ooletowah accomplished the same feat; although I can't say I would have one and even been a state champ under my proposed format, the competitor in me says I sure as heck would have wanted the opportunity
  5. Obviously I am newer than you Me st becausi was a 2nd grader at the time of the split you ignorant piece of work
  6. First and foremost I'd like to congratulate all of the wrestlers who competed this past weekend at the state tournament especially those who were able to experience the transfiguration of hard work; blood, sweat, and tears amount to tangible success by being crowned a tssaa state champ! As a product and supporter of D-2 wrestling (Purple Irish) I am ecstatic that they have produced 14 state champions in a 2 year interval. After rummaging through and diagnosing the brackets from this past weekend I became inundated with a dilemma how many of these state champions are actually the best wrestler at their weight in the state? We can't ascertain that question with fact but can only theorze with hypothetical, but is it unreasonable to believe that a single individual tourney is possible in TN? If the most populous state CA is capable of that why aren't we? Here is my solution. The facilitation of merging the 3 existing tourneys into 1 that is comprised of a 32 man bracket is challenging but nonetheless feasible venture. There are two seemingly simply options merge AA, AAA, and D-2 at the individual regional and state levels, allowing qualifiers to enter the tourney from the same source (though each classification would still retain separate team scores). If that is unacceptable, allow each classification to participate in their own region and allow the placers to advance to the tourney.
  7. I am proud of the Irish, what a strong start! Obviously Baylor is still well adept at working the exterior of the mat, yet the lions feasted! Boys and girls the Irish are going to pull a George costanza the y are double dipping the chip
  8. What a loser, that's the point who cares about DEC its about tssaa tourney time ie now and that is what Pat simp and the purple Irish faithful are about. Maybe the makeral snappers out west ought to figure out it is about rings not mid season exploits
  9. Yeah amigo you best should say cianara and get off this the t. Although a purple makeral snapper eater (of theNashville variety and having duked ot out with bear himself on these boards you should prob avoid posting bears can maim and kill
  10. 106-Eli King (FR) 113-Oliver (CBHS) 120 126 132-Ben Johnson (Baylor) 138- 145-Patrick Marchetti (FR) 152-Kelly Felix (FRANK) 160-Brandon Wright (HOUS) 170-Justin Knox (FAR) 182-Tyler Roberson(SD) 195Cameron Croy(BRENT) 220-Nick Reviez(FAR) HWT- Incomplete but hopefullyprovoking
  11. If the Controlling Board of the TSSAA votes for a split on July 16, are all TSSAA off season regulations and travel restrictions out the window? Honestly a split would benefit D-II wrestling, TSSAA has over regulated the heck out of secondary sports discombobulating and hindering programs (via scheduling and offseeason rules) as well as the ambitious wrestler committed to a strenuous off season itinerary. Thoughts?
  12. Wrsitbar I can't agree w/ you more w you anymore; I was initially excited when looking at this topic (I got wind of the results Sunday and was disappointed by the fervor generated for what I thought was an unprecedented result), now after reading the last 3 pages I wish I could get the past 5 min of my life back. After reading through some of the Ohio boards, local chatter up there indicates they think Father Ryan got out of town getting away with murder, read such cliches as, "Moeller and Xaver arent at full strength (football), tournament down, and truth or just excuses of disgruntled populace? WrestlingGod, look if you can't ingest the basic logic at play or that it is even stupid to introduce a hypotheical alternative for converational sake or amusement i don't know what to tell you buddy
  13. I can't mask my surprise, most teams would proudly take 2nd at this tournament but the Cleveland teams of late would undoubtedly have won this tourney in dominant fashion. Losing to a WC team in a trad. format this early ultimately doesn't mean much now, but it will in Feb. as WC tries to keep the 'ship in middle tn. But how accurate of a barometer is this showing, does it indicate a steep fall at an accelerated rate? Can anyone specify any reason(s) for this showing is it an outlier or have the powers begun shift in Bradley Cty?
  14. Ryan will muscle out a double digit victory against Wilson Central, but will be dispatching with the wildcats via a make-shift lineup. The current lineup is by no means the final end product that Coach Simp will unleash in February at the state tournament; it will however be a disciplined, battle-hardened group. Bonus points are at play here. Either way good barometer as to where the xollective teams and individuals are at this early juncture in the season. Btw excuse the ignorance; but anyone out there at the Ryan C-ville match, why did Clarksville give up so many forfeits (why make the trip, and not give JV guys quality matches from the outside looking in Coach Badon missed a good opportunity to provide his guys w/ mat time)?
